One of my great-great-greats was shot by a Yankee bullet in this campaign, near Lost Mountain, just west of Kennesaw Mountain. He was wounded, lost a leg, but lived another 40 years after the war until his death in 1905. I love Civil War History. It needs to be told, the good, the bad and the ugly history needs to be told, not watered down. It was brutal.
It seems the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain was a needless waste of men and materiel considered Sherman simply flanked (again!) and sidestepped Johnston as a batter would an inside fastball. "War is Hell!" -W. T. Sherman
Who on earth put these photos in? They look like people from the Franco-Prussian War with their wild uniforms. Some of them, anyway. But I appreciate the narration and fairness to both sides, though the Confederate casualties were overstated.
I agree with 'wild uniforms'. I saw an alleged Civil War upload a few weeks ago where it looked like some Union officers stole their hats from WWI-era Russian revolutionaries.

Atlanta needs Sherman right now
The southern army was commanded by Joseph Johnston. Hood was one of his subordinates.
Right! Hood replaced Johnston at Peachtree Creek. Hood was TOO courageous. Not NEARLY the strategist that Johnston or Sherman was.

Drinking game- Take a shot for every legitimate picture.
Hood was an idiot. Had Davis not replaced Johnston, the battle for Atlanta would have been a lot different.
It would be nice to have maps showing the landmarks that you talk about.
at 4:18 is one of those officers sitting side saddle.
I guess if they used authentic pics of the people they'd have to pay royalties to the descendants
The Rebs piled Yankees up like cord wood
They did at Cheatham Hill. General Thomas told Sherman one more attack like that and I will have no men left.
Sherman was a tyrant
