I played ark since the beta, I love it mostly unofficial servers and stuf playing with a few friends and grinding for about a month and then leaving then joking back in 6 moths

Great game imo. It's almost like pokemon meets far cry but with dinos rather than pokemon. You can go from being a caveman to having a full basically Ironman suit and can tame anything from a dodo to massive apex predators that you feel invincible while riding.
When I played Ark, I had fantastic visions of creating a sea ferring tribe, interacting with the direwolf tribe of the far north, of fending off envenomed waves of the swamp peoples.
Needless to say I was crushingly disappointed with almost server-wide monopoly style tribes that didn't speak English whatsoever.
I oddly enjoyed testing my own solo play way back when.
My favorite mounts were the big frog and scorpion (oh God I love scorpions). I would act small, not really making myself visually distinct. Small mounts, small crafting centers. Not worth it as a primary target. I'd raid places for eggs using stuff like grappling hooks. Create a small bomb cache to use on unsuspecting structures, and basically drop myself in an iron box at the end of the day.
Eventually I'd join up with people I liked and helped them out with clandestine things like spying on people, laying traps, and torpor sniping.
I absolutely loved that role.
I started an alt account after being herrased by the alpha tribe. Killed a bunch of their stuff back in EA when Brontos took 8 hrs to tame.

For anyone that has never played ark before… don’t, don’t put time into this game. Most of us have put to much time in to quit, you guys are still young go do great things that isn’t sitting around for multiple hours to tame a giga
Or they can just boost the settings and enjoy the game without wasting their life away. I feel like ark is literally just unplayable on default settings, no one wants to sit in one spot for 10 hours trying to tame a Dino thats just going to be killed in the next 10 minutes anyway.

The title is misleading. It should say how to play ark for beginners…nothing about this video pertains to playing ark in 2022.
A majority of people that play ark don’t play official if you don’t play official it’s a great game. Don’t play official and you’ll love the game it’s that simple.
Now if you do play official. Wildcard give absolutely ZERO fucks about balancing. They add a bunch of stupid tech shit then make maps that make it damn near free. Then along with those maps you get dinos that are OP as shit (look at the Shadowmane and noglins). There was a huge meshing problem a while ago and it went like a year without being fixed thousands of people were wiped without being able to fight back because they were under the map.
Play dedicated with your friends or play solo that’s all I can tell you I’m done spending 10 hours a day playing so my base doesn’t get wiped

I heard the Official has a lot of problems. I never played on one, my friend and I made an unofficial server and we just played on that and it was amazing. Loved it tbh. It was just us two and we added some mods and I loved the game.
I feel like it should have been mentioned that official is way more laggy and has way more cheaters than unofficial.
I just struggled till i tamed my first Rex, life was easier after that...
After 4 days (3-4hrs average per day).
debating whether i should play again. played on a streamers server, got alpha tribe status, raided their base several times, then they admincommanded our base and we left. ah good times
Considering getting ark, after watching this nice simple clear video definitely giving the basic ark game a go, won't spend too much on dlcs if Ark 2 is released soon I'll just wait for that. I guess I'm going to get lost in the rest of these videos now!
ive played so many games but nothing comes close to Ark its a game u can spend so many hours on and u dont feel like u use alot off hours on it i would say its worth it to atleast try it its a very different and fun game

Other than quality of life improvement like framerate and lag, I'd really like to be able to change the map layout there was 1 spot on the island that I loved building that they removed and I'd love to able to return to that island layout
The OG island was so awesome.
Honestly, I miss the game but it fell off with me real quick with the whole "constantly online and people can gank you while you're at work" mentality. That and the whole taking 24 hours to tame certain dinos made things a hellscape for people with dayjobs.
... basically if you're NEET with a super powered computer this is your game.

Im playing on a decently boosted server on the new norse map fjordjur its really fun
hey dobby, you just need to get in tune with when certain servers wipe. There are a few servers that wipe every 4-6 weeks and have very healthy population for awhile then it steadily declines. Keep checking battlemetrics every day or 2 and one will eventually wipe that interests you.
The main populated unofficial servers are MTS/Salty ark/bloody ark ranging from 3x to 10x
Thanks dude, as "Hex" said, try to keep an eye on ones wiping soon, they'll be very popular for a while once they've freshly wiped. I personally enjoy BAMSark a lot when it wipes at the moment, the admin do a great job of keeping the lag down and banning cheaters!
i cant seem to find a decent pvp server these days without there being insane kits and super pay2win. do you have any suggestions?
A lot of these are partially pay2win nowadays as the guys who host these need to make money in order to keep the servers going. Id say BAMSark is nailing it best at the moment in terms of cracking down on cheaters and keeping their servers with as little lag as possible!
Playing on x10 and infinite weight? Taking the boring stuff out? No , weight management, time management when you tame, their not boring, breeding rexes on x10 would be boring, you get 20 rexes in a day. Breeding and taming is slowly seeing your time investement bearing fruit is not boring.
I agree 100%. Adding shit like infinite weight and 10x XP and bs doesn't seem fun at all. Like the whole point of the game is to be challenging af and take some time. So that you actually have to try and be smart, yk? Making it SO easy like that defeats the purpose for me tbh, and it seems like it'll way more boring because you'll have everything in such a short amount of time.
i absolutely understand your point and agrees with it as long as you have IRL time. I always loved hard and time consuming games, then i got childrens...Since then, i was never able to really get into a game like that and to be able to fully exploit it. For me, setting x10 allowed me to discover the content of games that i would never have enjoyed otherwise. Enjoy the time you can spend on such challenges ^^ !
@@Adelph011 I downloaded this shit on a whim after watching the last Jurassic World. 'm playing with my 11yo girl. She loves this shit. I'm usually the one fighting, while she builds and breeds. It's nice.
There is no guarantee ARK 2 will be any good. If you enjoy the first one, keep playing.
Well at the moment its a 3rd person only game with dark souls type combat system. Not for me.

@@Kit-yv7ob Yeah. I have no idea how Ark will be if the combat system is only 3rd person and similar to Dark Souls. Like think about it, in the Souls game, the combat makes sense, but in a game like Ark? That doesn't seem like it'll work at all, or be fun. Like maybe they have something up their sleeves, but it honestly doesn't seem like it'll work well. Ark just isn't that type of game to have a combat style like a Souls games. At least in my opinion.

I got it and it’s really fun! Especially if ur a Dino lover. It’s really unrealistic but it doesn’t matter! It’s a game! I haven’t met any bad bugs yet. It’s annoying when u die and can’t get ur stuff back but that’s what makes the game challenging!

The new free Fjordur Map has the FjordHawk..it brings your kit back to your spawn point when you die :)
(just make sure to level up its carry weight!)

Even with all the bugs,cheaters,lack of wildcard support ive yet to find a game that gives me the same feeling...Rust is the next closest for me,but with no tames and lack of more world content it doesnt come very close..If Ark 2 isnt better i will be right back to Ark 1..This darksoul combat system and no 1st person im not very optimistic about Ark 2..Good Video 👍
Id argue that rust has more world content than some of the ark maps, but rust is also more of a multiplayer, make up your own journey kind of game. Ark definitely leans towards the single player, story driven, go here and do this content. The multiplayer pvp scene just isn't as big as the pve scene in ark, for good reason.
Also dark souls combat sounds better than whatever the combat system is now. Pvp is a mess. It needed to be reworked entirely, there was no saving it. It's just not enjoyable for the majority of players, which is why the majority of players are not playing.
@@cagxplays9602 They tried that combat and skill system with atlas btw, this is not new. Also rust has very little actual content, the content is simply quite refined and fun to do over and over.
@@hex2220 idk about you but atlas is not a good argument for anything. That game was absolutely horseshit and shouldn't even be referred to in the gaming community. Everything about it was bad, not just the combat. That's an example of how not to make a video game, so yes we shouldn't make ark 2 an atlas clone, good observation.
@@hex2220 i agree with you with rust. Its not really meant to have all these big cool things to do and a crazy storyline, it would take away from the core mechanics too much. Also I noticed you said rust is refined which a lot of ark players tend to ignore. Rust just plays so much better than ark, if ark were more refined, maybe some more of the base mechanics and content could be enjoyed more as is without all the extras.
The people saying the game is good is lying just in case your wondering about buying it its very addicting and a creative game that i still play but its a god awful game if you try n play it competitively. If you dont play competitive ull find ur self restarting every day. On top of that the pvp is trash if you live in a cave ull get meshed(an unlegit method via going under the map to by pass ur defences) outside of being raided during a fight with an enemy player u can get antimeshed(die from nothing) or get stuck in their dino via the games terrible mechanics. Dieing from one of these bugs on offical means hours of work gone if you had an actual kit put together. This is just the start of it, gets much worse if you play pc with the insane amount of dupers, aimbotters, and godmode cheaters and the lack of wild card support means they wont get banned for it either.
The game is good but it's been around too long so all base spots are on YT and some of the player base simply sucks. I played official pvp and was offline raided during mid day on tue/wed literally everytime my tribe rebuilt. They weren't looking to pvp, stood nothing to gain from it, had superior numbers and dinos, and I had to work. They had literally no reason to be raiding us other than being toxic and they chose too. Since then I've played single player, which is a funny title because you can invite your friends to join you, and had fun. The game isn't nearly as broken as it's player base imo.
@@ftbllguy2515 i think ik the rzn u think its not as broken as it rlly is and that rzn is cuz u play a single player server were u dont hv to experience half these bugs but even single player is rlly buggy u cant defend the game that u get stuck in a raptor if it attacks u. Literally the most common dino on most maps😂😂

@@Punks1010 When I started the first time was 2016, and then there were a ton of bugs. I played on official pvp for about a year recently before we got full wiped enough that my tribe decided as a whole to quit, so I definitely experienced my fair share of bugs/official pvp. By the time I was done with pvp I very rarely died to any wild dinos/bugs and kept what we called a pocket giga with at least 1300 melee on me at all times. I've been playing single player for only about a month because I knew fjordur was coming out. You can argue Survival of the fittest I guess is what I didn't like about the official pvp (which I figured was what you meant by competitive) you could argue, but we weren't challenging these 70+ person tribes that could take over a server. I don't get how they have fun doing it, but I also don't blame the game for it. They were the only thing that cost me hours of time though. I never lost much to a bug or glitch.
@@ftbllguy2515 man ur 1 of the only lucky players in this whole game to have never lost a kit to a bluescreen, antimesh, or being stuck in a wild or tamed dino but also ya i dont get the 70 person tribes im on smalls at the second and it helps a little but everyone else still has their share of allis which is annoying
Does it even matter what year you are playing? The game still looks and feels like it did years ago. It should have never been taken out of beta in the first place. The real question is 'should I play ark in 2022 and expect a full release game?' The answer is no. If the question is 'can I play ark in 2022 and still have fun?' Sure, just don't expect the best experience.
