God i wish there was an origin movie of Akasha. i could watch her all day. Like damn aaliyah killed it. 😍 i just hated the ending like she shouldnt have died that easy in the movie.
In the book Akasha does die. But not in the manner that they show in the movie. Her death in the book is anticlimactic since Anne Rice kept building it up to be this intense great hate between Akasha and The Twins (witches) that stretched over 5,000 years and the end result was something akin to a schoolyard shoving match. In the book Queen of the Damned we do get Akasha’s backstory and early life as a mortal and learn the origins of the vampires. It was a rich and lush storytelling that was later ruined by the new trilogy that Anne Rice put out these last couple years.
I don't think ANYONE could have played this role better than her. I'm obsessed with watching her dance in this video. She's mesmerizing, her moves were so fluid & she was untouchable, as far as singing, dancing & acting. She put EVERY female singer at,before & after her to shame. No doubt in my mind, if she hadn't passed away, Aaliyah would've conquered the world. I believe the illuminati killed her. They had to take her out, she was doing things no other woman had done before her & no one has done after her either. No woman has been able to duplicate what she did while she was here. IMO she puts Beyoncé to shame. I wish we could give Beyoncé back in exchange for Aaliyah.

That's essentially what the book was about. But the movie cut all that out... This movie is technically 2 book crammed into one confusing movie. They cut entire characters out. Like Louis and Claudia's ghost. Definitely the best book out of the series though.

When this movie when it first came out I was only 8 so I didn't understand it. But now that I'm older, this is one of my favorite vampire movies. Because of Aaliyah's breathtaking performance of playing a fierce, super sexy flawless vampire queen I would like to thank her efforts of bringing Akasha to life. And for that I've named one of my characters after her character in this glorious film. Though this was your last film you're memory will never be forgotten. Thank you Aaliyah. May you rest in peace
