  • ARTICLE OF THE WEEK!!
This week's article is titled "The effect of exercise on cancer-related fatigue in cancer survivors: a systematic review and meta-analysis".
This study looked at exercise interventions versus non exercise interventions as a means to effect self reported cancer-related fatigue (CRF) in cancer survivors. 788 subjects undertook either aerobic, resistance, combination or were placed in the control group and instructed to continue with their usual activities. The research specifically looked into adherence and intensity of the exercise protocols.
The results of the meta analysis showed that aerobic exercise alone had the most positive impact on cancer-related fatigue, however improvements were still seen in the other exercise groups. The lower intensity aerobic exercise was more effective than high intensity in CRF scores, and the greater the adherence by participants also saw benefit.
