- Paramahansa Yogananda (January 5, 1893 - March 7, 1952) was an Indian monk, yogi and guru who introduced millions to the teachings of meditation and Kriya Yoga through his organization Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) / Yogoda Satsanga Society (YSS) of India, and who lived his last 32 years in America.
A chief disciple of the Bengali yoga guru Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri, he was sent by his lineage to spread the teachings of yoga to the West, to prove the unity between Eastern and Western religions and to preach a balance between Western material growth and Indian spirituality. His long-standing influence in the American yoga movement, and especially the yoga culture of Los Angeles, led him to be considered by yoga experts as the "Father of Yoga in the West." Yogananda was the first major Indian teacher to settle in America.

Wisdom of the Heart and Our Inner Truth Penetrates Illusion
Before I even listen to the recording my heart is overjoyed.
My first glimpse of a world beyond this physical one came from reading the Autobiography of a Yogi. I have since heard the audiobook many times.
Currently, I am reading the Second Coming of Christ by Yogananda.
This channel is amazing; without over exaggerating if I was given the choice to have one possession it would just be the recordings in this channel.
Whenever I speak with someone about living in the present moment and about spiritual teachings I always show them this channel and tell them that their liberation can be found by just listening.
Yes me too, Yogananada, along with Krishnamurti, was one of my first exposures to this world of yoga and meditation (outside of Christianity) that I encountered as a young person. I don't think I could have understood all that much of what they were saying but my heart resonated so strongly and deeply with Yogananda's story of his awakening experience and all that was contained in that incredible autobiography. What a remarkable Being - and a pioneer in introducing yoga to the West and bringing us all together beyond religious boundaries and identities. So lovely to know he was one of your first teachers too Roderick. Enjoy his blissful wisdom. 💚 Oh, and those EYES! 😻
