    Very well presented. Another potential source of research information is older annual reports of power companies, as they will give a rough idea of where the lines ran. Also, some utility commissions make their older records available for public perusal after so many years, and some of the files will include detail maps of where the lines were to be built. Another thing I just remembered is going to take a picture of a pole about an hour north of my place that has multiple generations of J-D suspensions (including some chocolate brown units). When I was trying to find good angles for pictures, I glimpsed something in the tall grass and pulled part of a small 1910s / early 1920s multipart out of the ground.

    I just found a horned elliot broken in half in the woods. I thought it was an old sconce. Brought it home, started researching and now I'm hooked! I never knew people collected these things. I can't wait to go look for more!

      That’s a great early find! Go back and look for more. There was probably an old telegraph line there somewhere. They are fun to go hunt for. I’ve been doing it since I was a kid. It never gets old to go look for more 😁👍 Keep watching for more insulator videos in the future

    Wow thats an impressive collection!!
    I love that huge 3 part pin! When they have the flaired flanges it just looks so cool!
    Ive got a decent size collection now, I want to build mock-ups of historic poles at some point.
    I absolutely love going and tracking down old lines! Even better for me is finding poles standing! I absolutely love seeing the poles and insulators in their original spot. If only more of them where still in use!
    At work we actually want to recreate old power lines, it's got a lot of mining history and so we want to make it look more like an older mining town!
    It was really cool hearing about all the insulators! Im definitely subbing lol

      Thanks! I’ve always liked looking for old bottles, insulators and old poles since I was a kid. I’ve put up a few different poles in my yards over the years. I’ve got one I need to put up now. I always save old crossarms for displays. It’s fun! Thanks for watching! I’ll make more insulator collecting videos in the future 👍😁

      To any and all . I passed up a dark red and a rootbeer glass insulator last year at a thrift store. They had macramae rope to hang for air plants . So I thought there were 1970s copies.no marks . Do you think they were copies thanks

    I also do minor collecting. I found one where the top says PATD SEP 19th 1899.. but no manufacturer. Its a small insulator dome top but the bottom 2/3 looks like a skirt with verticle lines. I cant seem to find its models anywhere. Size about same as hemiggrey #6. Just curious if it sounds familiar?

      @@jacksonking4766 to us collectors it’s called a CD-121 pleated skirt insulator. What color is it? They come in aqua, blue and green shades. They were mostly used on telephone lines and were made in the early 1900 time period

      @HighVoltageAdventures  Год назад

      Well I have broke some trying to get them off of the poles when I was younger and one time when I was about 11 years old I dropped one I was cleaning in my grandma’s porcelain sink and busted a hole in the sink. I felt really bad about that 😩

    • @Renville80

      When I was younger, I decided to pack away most of my extra insulators before leaving for college. At one point, I had just wrapped an aqua Hemingray-42 and a CD 145 crown-embossed Brookfield. Next thing I knew, they had rolled off the edge of the bed, landing on the floor and hitting each other. Which came out unscathed? The 42 of course! The poor CREB lost its entire skirt.
