The trick is to hold the outside handles. Left hand does the D-pad, L button and analogue stick. Right hand does the Z button, as well as the A, B, C^v and R buttons. Source: This is genuinely how I hold that controller, and have done since I was a kid.
OriginalPiMan I don't think I've played a single N64 game that required both the joystick and the Dpad at the same time. There's no sense in stretching your thumb over.
mrshmuga9 There was a small number of games that had a function for the d-pad and/or the L button when movement was done with the stick, including both Zelda games. But that's not _really_ why I held it that way. I held it that way because it was more comfortable for me; I found holding the middle prong left my hand squished by the left prong.
Wow, that was some real musical talent to break down the Mario Bros. 2 music into 4 parts so easily. Then again, the LRRsm'n have a habit of humming that tune so they are well-practiced.
I think Kathleen should decorate a paper plate to serve as the "Ultimately Useless Award" and hand it out to winners of the week or keep it for herself when there is the inevitable tie.
I intensely remember that they are ears due to a scene in the first film where in Shrek extracts the ear wax from his ears and makes candles with them.
So, this really is like distilling the best parts of feed dump down into a tincture and mixing in a dash of 1980's Public Television Panache. In the BEST POSSIBLE WAY. The Panalysts is solidly in my top 3 LRR projects. Excellent work, guys! Keep it up!
As seen by this episode and the 2nd episode, I think this show is definitely the best when the panalysts are allowed to provide their own answers. It's not to say that I dislike Kathleen's options, but just the sheer absurdity of dogs being named Boutros Boutros, or all birthdays being celebrated with Mars Bringer of war is something wonderful that's difficult to achieve in a more limited format.
The second topic demonstrates why this is a brilliant show. Such a preposterously stupid choice with a clear right answer, yet it spawned a thoroughly entertaining and funny discussion. Also the music performance was pleasant to listen to. I expect to find each one on iTunes soon.
These continue to be hillarious and excellent! I love the imagery of a group of kids all singing Mars which culminates in the Ice Cream Birthday Cake being brought out, Mars Bringer of Cake indeed! However Super Mario 2 music is just such a natural win it was the right choice.
Whenever I find myself rewatching old Panalysts episodes, I inevitably come back to this one, specifically for Alex and Cameron's rendition of Mars, Bringer of War. That's a special moment
Also, third arm, all the way. If you've ever had to carry a bunch of stuff (or even just one thing that you need 2 hands for) and run into a closed door, you know EXACTLY why.
Now initially the song that came to mind first to me was Bittersweet Symphony, but I must say as someone with a birthday coming up I look forward to hearing the SMB2 Theme as I receive cake.
Kathleen, your editing skills are amazing. I just wanted to be another person to say that s ok me time, some where. Every time I watch a LRR video that you've edited, I just love the edit work. This is not to say that others aren't good at editing, but you just always have a really great eye and ear for what you do, and that I appreciate that.
I combined the concept of sitting awkwardly while performing 4:33 with listening to Crazy Train and made myself laugh so I am sharing this with you all here. Sitting awkwardly while listening to Ozzy's classic guitar solo is an amazing visual, and coincidentally the song lasts about four minutes and thirty three seconds, so honestly both traditions could coincide within that universe.
I really enjoy this show. Also, it occurs to me that the audio could make a fine podcast, which is something I’m sure has been considered in the LRR office.
nah, you would have a 2 handed sword and a rapier or knife at most. Though, that sounds super useful if the third arm doesn't get in the way too much. especially in grappling.
Jesse Gaskill Is there going to be weird retroactive things where they start referencing future shows to prove past points? If so, that would actually be quite impressive.
I think they spontaneously did it once during an early Desert Bus...it was a quiet moment between 'things' and someone just started humming it, and EVERYONE quickly joined in and it was PERFECT.
For the record, I'm almost certain that the reason some people think Shrek's ears were positioned like antennae, is because that's how they appear on the logo.
Neither Ian, Alex nor Beej realized that a third arm would let you hide a gun under your coat, giving you the edge you need to defeat the current holder of the Number One Headband. Conversely, are the fire nipples fueled by your calories or are they a pair of Cyclopes-like portals to the fire universe? Either way, you have the most rad diet possible or the ability to add energy to universe.
HI, LRR People, I guess this is the new replacement for /feed Dump. I still miss Feed Dump, but this is more your improv wheel house. I do wish you always substituted "bus" of actual profanity, so I could always share all your stuff with family, and all my friends. Still, good to see this, and it was fun. And I will pas s on both the fire nipples and the third arm. Much more comedy than "Fight or invisibility?" :)
I would actually go Ian's route and make a power plant from fire nipples. They go off when too cold OR too hot, so the heat they generate will keep them going. As long as I keep putting water in the pot, I'll make infinite energy, sell it back to the power grid, and never work again. Oh, I could make a cold loop on the exhaust that condensates the steam back into the chamber!
The obvious first pick for new birthday song is Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary by Master Shake and Zach Wilde. DEEP WITHIN THE WOMB OF TIME THE CREATURE THUS BE BORN!
I actively have wanted a third arm for years an extra arm to hold my phone while I do other stuff or to carry extra groceries in and I mean if I got into a fight oh my god just WINDMILL SLAM third arm
Are we ever going to get bad news? Also, if I had a third arm for my Shaman Pistolier in Shadowrun, I could taze them, shoot them, and then RELOAD! This is so much better than the adrenal collector!
lawragatajar I think the ruling was that the people who claimed to have the copyright actually don't, but some unknown person(s) might still unknowingly have it?
I'm disappointed with Beej not seeing that, with three arms, one is finally able to fully utilize a N64 controller
oh wow now thats an advantage
The trick is to hold the outside handles. Left hand does the D-pad, L button and analogue stick. Right hand does the Z button, as well as the A, B, C^v and R buttons.
Source: This is genuinely how I hold that controller, and have done since I was a kid.

Was literally just thinking this lol.
Wow, that was some real musical talent to break down the Mario Bros. 2 music into 4 parts so easily. Then again, the LRRsm'n have a habit of humming that tune so they are well-practiced.
Cam's said that he wants that tune to play at his funeral.
They only broke it into 2 parts and the bass part is improvised with the percussion part kind of mixed in.
Even more impressive
But they're band kids
I'm still jealous
This show is getting progressively better as it continues. And it had a strong start.
Props to Cam and Alex for being able to sing Mars. Singing in 5/4 is craaaazy difficult.
Aidan Rutter try 9/8
That’s why you count
i think you're letting the number scare you. if you know the riff, trying to keep time doesn't matter so much.
Only way I could do it was with a third arm.
Aidan Carpio 9/8 in a group of 4 beats or a group of 3?
I think Kathleen should decorate a paper plate to serve as the "Ultimately Useless Award" and hand it out to winners of the week or keep it for herself when there is the inevitable tie.
I intensely remember that they are ears due to a scene in the first film where in Shrek extracts the ear wax from his ears and makes candles with them.
When everyone started humming the Super Mario Bros. 2 Overworld theme, I died happy.
So, this really is like distilling the best parts of feed dump down into a tincture and mixing in a dash of 1980's Public Television Panache.
In the BEST POSSIBLE WAY.
The Panalysts is solidly in my top 3 LRR projects. Excellent work, guys! Keep it up!
Cam’s pen twirling is insane
As seen by this episode and the 2nd episode, I think this show is definitely the best when the panalysts are allowed to provide their own answers. Of course the Mario music fits for birthdays! Mario keeps coming out of pipes all the time!
The second topic demonstrates why this is a brilliant show. Such a preposterously stupid choice with a clear right answer, yet it spawned a thoroughly entertaining and funny discussion.

3 armed dab *head explodes*
cyclopsboi but which side of the dab do you use it on?
3rd hand holds your hat like an old-fashioned bow; Combo Dab AND bow
Whenever I find myself rewatching old Panalysts episodes, I inevitably come back to this one, specifically for Alex and Cameron's rendition of Mars, Bringer of War. That's a special moment
I’d want the three arms just so I could have two hands on a keyboard and one on the mouse.
So windmill slam prior to their answer, final countdown: it sounds epic for kids, it's properly morbid and drunk people can sign it.
Or we will rock you for similar reasons but also because it goes through a age range in the song
as much as i love helping make a crapshoot every year at PAX next PAX south i want a live Panalysts please
Oh yes please!
por que no los dos?
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite LRR video series.
Also, third arm, all the way. If you've ever had to carry a bunch of stuff (or even just one thing that you need 2 hands for) and run into a closed door, you know EXACTLY why.
These just keep getting better.
I am astounded how much I am enjoying this series. Keep it up, LRR! :D
Hang on, doesn't the Fire Nipples being activated by heat cause a feedback loop so you're constantly just spewing fire from your torso?
Another fantastic episode! really love where you're all going with this new show!
Ian: "It works for all flesh-related celebrations." :)
Now initially the song that came to mind first to me was Bittersweet Symphony, but I must say as someone with a birthday coming up I look forward to hearing the SMB2 Theme as I receive cake.
I’m such a fan of the intro and outro, the music is so good
Kathleen, your editing skills are amazing. I just wanted to be another person to say that s ok me time, some where. Every time I watch a LRR video that you've edited, I just love the edit work. This is not to say that others aren't good at editing, but you just always have a really great eye and ear for what you do, and that I appreciate that.
Wow. 2nd half of this ep was amazing. Y'all really got into it.
I combined the concept of sitting awkwardly while performing 4:33 with listening to Crazy Train and made myself laugh so I am sharing this with you all here. Taking the third arm, I'm gonna become the greatest black metal drummer ever
2 handed sword... Shield... Boom.
*Eyes widen*
Or or or...
Sword and 2 shields.
nah, you would have a 2 handed sword and a rapier or knife at most. Though, that sounds super useful if the third arm doesn't get in the way too much. especially in grappling.
These are so funny.
Keep up the great work.
Beej doing the rhythm to Crazy Train made my whole week.
Man, I love this series.
Kathleen: "Choose a new birthday song"
Me: "Windmill slam Pulse Demon"
"So, you guys wanna become a Go Nagai comic, is what you're saying."
Alex, you're talking to Team Matters of Import. Are you really that surprised?
It was an apt critique :D. That's one bit I'm loving about this: the culture interests we'll stumble into depending on the teams >D!
Cam mentioned Shadowrun. You get a like.
the best substitute for "happy birthday" has to be "Birthday Dethday" from Dethklok, hands down the best song for birthdays since 2007
Is there going to be a meta to these shows. Will they start referencing older shows to prove future points?
Jesse Gaskill Is there going to be weird retroactive things where they start referencing future shows to prove past points?
If so, that would actually be quite impressive.
With three arms, you could easily chalenge someone with the phrase: "I could beat you with one one hand tide behind my back."
My wife decided to start blasting Happy Birthday by Altered Images from the next room in response to the first question.
As much as I love Serge, the combo is Alex and Cam is amazing. Dun dun dun dun DUNDUNDUN.
Alt subtitle: The Musical Episode
This was team Talking Simulator vs. Team Matters of Import
Out of all the panel quiz shows y'all could have referenced, l was not expecting Never Mind the Buzzcocks.
love this show!
Team Brawny CLEARLY had switched sides to 3 arms by the end
Come on, Alex, Rizin would absolutely sign you and your third arm to an MMA contract! They love freak show fights.
Wow these episodes are getting more intense
When will we get a full LRR accapella version of the SMB2 overworld theme.
I think they spontaneously did it once during an early Desert Bus...it was a quiet moment between 'things' and someone just started humming it, and EVERYONE quickly joined in and it was PERFECT.
Is there maybe a chance you have a link? :o
@@empath69 link please
This should totally be an oxford-style debate
For the record, I'm almost certain that the reason some people think Shrek's ears were positioned like antennae, is because that's how they appear on the logo.
Holy shit this is approaching Qwerpline levels of hilarious!
With 3 hands soldering would become 100% eazzzzzy mode
Ayyyy, shout out to Shadowrun!
Either way, you have the most rad diet possible or the ability to add energy to universe.
with that third arm get some fidget spinners and do the thundercloud formation!
Imagine how much more slowly my arthritis would progress if I had an extra hand to spread the work around to.
HI, LRR People,

I can't believe it took me this long to notice but are you guys using a wyrmwood DM screen for kathleen's host space?
They forget the amount of brainpower it will cost to control a extra limb.
Fuck, now I wanna listen to The Planets again.
I still think this particular episode was just an excuse to get a bunch of people humming the Mario Bros 2 theme in one shot :P
Is there a loophole in which "twinkle twinkle little", which has the same tune as the birthday day song, is re-written to be the birthday song?
Nobody mentioned Birthday by The Beatles?
You can use a keyboard and mouse at the same time!!!! The gaming opportunities are endless!
The conclusion felt a little weird, didn't team Brawny spend most of the round agreeing about the third arm after the initial arguments?
Cool video!
Okay. LRR has to do an acapella song show now.
I'm curious about how bras will work with that extra arm.
i love this advertiser glitch in full screen. It says TNT uploaded this video.
The real answer to the Birthday song question is "The Happy Happy Birthday Song" by Arrogant Worms.
oh nice i thought maybe this was on hiatus for road quest filming.
Most of our recorded content (and a surprising amount of our streams) will see no hiatus. Panalysts continues!
The obvious first pick for new birthday song is Spirit Journey Formation Anniversary by Master Shake and Zach Wilde. DEEP WITHIN THE WOMB OF TIME THE CREATURE THUS BE BORN!
Third arm will be back pain nightmare.
Isn’t there a scene from Shrek where he pulls earwax from those horns and uses them as candles?
Wrong answer for happy birthday song replacement.
"I'm Older" by They might be Giants, is the only correct answer.
Nothing gets me pumped for cake and ice cream quite like being harshly reminded of the inexorable passage of time.
The Arrogant Worms - The Happy Happy Birthday Song is the correct answer to the first question.
I grew up with the Beatles' birthday song
I think 1:57 is my new ringtone
I'm just here for the kickass theme music
This is only a question that the LRR people can answer: did this video get demonitized because of the song?
three arms means full control of a double neck guitar
i didn't understand how that song ian sang connected in any way to crazy train before realizing that he was singing the fucking guitar part
I actively have wanted a third arm for years an extra arm to hold my phone while I do other stuff or to carry extra groceries in and I mean if I got into a fight oh my god just WINDMILL SLAM third arm
I think they should have stuck with 4:33
Ok I love this show but why the past midnight uploads?!
loadingreadyrun Did this video end up getting demonetized?
What in god’s name is a yarp?
3 hands means you can finally correctly use an N64 controller
These episodes are too short D:
What about a choice of having a smaller arm and hand with three fingers and one fire nipple? This would seem to be a mash up of epic proportions
When today is your birthday and you see this
# 3rdArmSquad
Are we ever going to get bad news?
Also, if I had a third arm for my Shaman Pistolier in Shadowrun, I could taze them, shoot them, and then RELOAD! This is so much better than the adrenal collector!
Why the hate for "Happy Birthday"? It's a perfectly good song that does its job quite well.
I thought it was found recently that it actually wasn't in copyright, and that we were all duped.
Fun fact: Not any more! It's finally in the public domain. www.cbsnews.com/news/happy-birthday-song-officially-recognized-in-public-domain/
lawragatajar I think the ruling was that the people who claimed to have the copyright actually don't, but some unknown person(s) might still unknowingly have it?
It used to be copyrighted, but a recent court case put an end to that.
Large unflushable wads. Kathleen is our queen. She is our lord and savior!
