I grew up in Pittsburgh so Kennywood is a huge part of my childhood. The Skyrocket and the Phantom's Revenge are my favorite rides and really bring back some great memories. It's really awesome to hear other people talk about Kennywood.
Kennywood is one of the oldest amusement parks in the country so I don’t see why coaster enthusiasts wouldn’t know about the place. I however do cheese out whenever I hear or see Kennywood pop up outside the Pittsburgh area XD
I think the thicker spine just helps reduce the stress on the supports. Full Throttle itself isn't a very long ride and most of it is fairly low to the ground, so it doesn't really need a lot of supports for a coaster as tall as it is. Intimidator 305 would be a better point of reference, with it's double spine.
Just so u know I'm about to get my first PC setup and planet coaster will defiantly be the first thing I'm getting and I've been binge watching your planet coaster series so thank u so much for helping me understand the game earlier thank u ! 👏👏👏
Halfway through the ride, the track type switches. That’s why he said we can’t create that style of ride because you can’t change track type in the game
I like how you always give the background of the real-life rides that each coaster type is based on. As someone living in Ohio, I've been to both Cedar Point and Kings Island fairly often, but I don't often have the chance to get out of state and experience other parks and coaster types. On a side note, I was wondering if you had ever thought of uploading any of your career parks that you had finished to the workshop, it would be really interesting to see how you finished out any of the partially built rides in those (specifically the one in Pirate Cove)
The trim brakes on the tophat are killing me and the airtime. :P Great video silv. Torque is probably one of my favorite coaster types in the game. Shame we can't scale the tophat loop, though (or make our own).
I really like your videos, but as a physics student, I should say it's metres per second squared. Metres per second is just velocity, not acceleration, but as always: amazing video!
A slightly more intuitive way to think about it when designing coasters, since you get familiar with Gs in other places, lateral, negative, etc.. would be that 9 m/s^2 is just a little under 1G (1G = 9.8 m/s^2), so the max acceleration for that coaster is a bit less than the acceleration you'd feel if you were dropped into freefall. Not that insignificant, really,
Wooooooah did you just name-drop Kennywood?? I live close by and LOVE that park! I didn't think people outside the area really knew about it because it's a much smaller scale park.
I went to kennywood many times and i rode the sky rocket. The ride has a 3-5 sec air time. Just for your infomation. Also i would recommend going to kennywood because i much enjoy it! Also nice video!
Because they’re gamers... true coaster enthusiasts will seek out newer coasters / parks they haven’t been to. Kennywood isn’t as big in scale as Cedar Point and others but boy are we a little bit spoiled :P
I love Full Throttle, since I live right next to Magic Montain I ride it all the time and can tell you exactly how it happens, BTW you missed the Iron Man when coming out of the tunnel in the hill which you also missed
Can you give us a ranking of the "real" coaster-types, that you would want to see in game? I am personally waiting for the Mack-Hypers (Blue Fire, Helix, Flash) since I think you cant really approximate them with the torque because of the train design.
inverted loopings are pretty much my most favourite part of a coaster lol. I don't really like normal loopings to much.. plus theres so much more happening in an inverted looping >.
i would love to c you make a let's play aswell! and try to make a realistic theme park! not just 1 ride and then your on to the next project! (dont take it the wrong way! your singel projects are awesome!)
Hey, come to think of it... we can't make reverse-hill climbing coasters (forgot the name), where you're drawn backwards then fly through the station, do a bit of looping and turning, then fall backwards back through the route until you reach the station again... can you? :/
Hi Silvarret first things first I want to thank you for your effort with the PC College it helps a lot. Then I wanted to ask if you mabe could make a College Video about Infinity coasters? They are one of my favorite coasters and I think it would be great to make a tutorial because you can doe more or less everything with those (Smiler for example). I love to doe them in No Limits 2 but in PC I always have problems, that the People dont like the compact coasters with many inversions and to get them smooth (heartline is missing).
I was trying to build a recreation of Mr.Freeze reverse blast using the multi-directional launch, but when the train went back over the track it would launch backwards again instead of going forward
Just want to point out there are only 5 operating sky rockets 2 in the world. With another 3 in the works. I don't think it it at the level of the boomerang coasters yet with there being a ton of them.
Back during the Alpha and Beta, you could actually make a reversing coaster. I actually made Evel Knievel on the Alpha workshop. Unfortunately, though, the devs decided that shuttle coasters didn't exist, and patched the ability to make them out. I'm honestly starting to lose faith in Frontier.
Yo Silv, you mentioned Full Throttle being the only coaster resembling the Torque, but isn't Hollywood Rip Ride RockIt from Universal also this type of coaster?
Indeed you are correct. =) My thought process here is more along the lines of, Frontier trying to hit that middle ground, so that the coaster resembles as many coasters and their signature features, if there could be any truth to that?
I think it's actually a language barrier thing - I've learned pretty much all coaster elements in English over the years, but 'looping' is the accepted term in Dutch, and the one term that for me has stuck rather than 'loop'. I'm a fan of TPW btw, and he's actually also replied to my stuff in the past if I remember correctly!
TheLoneArgonian Gaming torque is based off of the premier rides track used in full throttle while maverick uses intamin track because it is of course made by intamin. So while they are very similar as launched coasters featuring inversions, they are also somewhat different.
Yeah it a company named premier who built the Mr freeze and full throttle you can tell by the track profile and train design but not everyone is as nerdy as us when it comes to roller coasters also I think premier at times also owns parks as well so they seem to be a big player in the amusement industry
Thanks for the video, Silv! :) I once messed with the tophat/loop element and found out that you can actually place it "backwards" so that the train will first climb over the top hat and then go through the looping afterwards. You can accomplish this by putting the loop anywhere in your layout and deleting the track leading into the loop. Now you can rebuild the connection to the loop but connect it with the tophat-track this time. With a little bit of trial and error, the result should be overall satisfying. It's also worth mentioning that the track section leading down from the top hat is a lot steeper than the track section leading up to it. To better understand what I mean I'll give a screenshot of a very raw layout. The train in the image is currently moving up a launch section into the top hat (moving to the right of the image): i.imgur.com/J7X0CDn.jpg However, from a realistic standpoint, the launch is probably too steep. ;)
Jaime Brown I work at an amusement park that has a skyrocket ride and the lap bar has a couple spots where it makes contact with you. One is on your lap the second rests on your lower legs. And we make sure to push it down hard. The restraint holds you in really well and gives you some air time as well

A few Coaster College suggestions:

~Log Flume
~Mine Coaster
~Floorless Coaster
Keep up the good work Silv! You're great.👌🏻
WilliMel Log and Mine would be an interesting topic

Yep, the thicker spine is either for less supports or for sections with higher g-forces.
Also, the crazy hangtime in Full Throttle loop is what makes it interesting!
That POV was oddly satisfying because of the smoothness
Your smoothing skills are amazing
Would there be a way to make an Expedition Everest sort of coaster? (As in, you stop, go back, but on a different path)
Daniel Beechworth Sort of.
No, not yet sadly.
thats what i was thinking
Nope. Because of the fact that Planet Coaster does not allow track switching (currently, take note Frontier) you can’t do that.
Frontier, please add:
- Switch tracks (linear sliding [e.g. Incredicoaster's track switches], rotating [e.g. Vekoma inverted coasters and custom loopers], and quick-flip [B&M flying coaster dual-loading station switches]) and Transfer tracks
- Multi-pass LSM launch on Torque
- Dual-Loading Stations
And PLEASE fix smoothing
You make my sad, boring day... SO FUN AND HAPPY!
I think the thicker spine just helps reduce the stress on the supports. Full Throttle itself isn't a very long ride and most of it is fairly low to the ground, so it doesn't really need a lot of supports for a coaster as tall as it is.

No those are for the intense g forces it pulls
Finally a launched coaster tutorial ;D

Coaster Studios be like: Why did they add trim brakes?!
ong
Anyone else look forward to hearing that melody at the beginning of these vids? Cause I live for it lol nice tutorial btw as usual!
The original track of Torque is the track form Kennywood's Sky Rocket. It is my hometown park.
Halfway through the ride, the track type switches. That’s why he said we can’t create that style of ride because you can’t change track type in the game
This might be an over-the-top layout but I would definitely ride it!
The top of the top hat on Sky Rocket sends you in airtime/stall moment it is great.
Did NOT know that you could set the speed. I spent all day today trying to make this bad boy work the way I wanted it.
I wait for these videos all week!
Thanks dude. The series really teaches me a lot! When I get the game, I will definitely watch this more!
Edit: Thanks for the heart!
I would definetely ride a crazy coaster the way you made it!!!
Lars Hartsema then go to six flags magic mountain in southern California
Then I would have to travel from The Netherlands to California. But it is a bucket list item
I like how you always give the background of the real-life rides that each coaster type is based on. As someone living in Ohio, I've been to both Cedar Point and Kings Island fairly often, but I don't often have the chance to get out of state and experience other parks and coaster types.

The thick spine is also used for areas where there are high g-forces present. Reduces strain on track and maintenance costs.
nice and clean tutorial!
Thanks Silv, helped me a lot. 🙂
Do typhoon / eurofighter / barghest tutorial next time
While you are editing and probably reuploading: I am pretty sure there is actually a cutback available for this coaster, probably under rolls.
I really like your videos, but as a physics student, I should say it's metres per second squared. Metres per second is just velocity, not acceleration, but as always: amazing video!
Good point! As a non-physics student, I'm completely illiterate when it comes to that stuff, especially in English, I'll keep it in mind from now on.
A slightly more intuitive way to think about it when designing coasters, since you get familiar with Gs in other places, lateral, negative, etc.. would be that 9 m/s^2 is just a little under 1G (1G = 9.8 m/s^2), so the max acceleration for that coaster is a bit less than the acceleration you'd feel if you were dropped into freefall. im hella into that non-inverted loop!
Almost at 100k! So closeee

9 minutes in, you re-did a few takes and didn't edit it out :P
Thank you! That feeling when I knew I had skipped over something but I couldn't put my finger on what it was :/
I changed it now. Will take some time for the change to be rendered, though.
Silvarret Awesome job. It was kinda funny, I was like... Why does he keep re-saying stuff, then it clicked :P Awesome video man, keep em coming.
He is dutch dummy.

Hey, come to think of it... we can't make reverse-hill climbing coasters (forgot the name), where you're drawn backwards then fly through the station, do a bit of looping and turning, then fall backwards back through the route until you reach the station again... can you? :/
A boomerang
Hi Silvarret first things first I want to thank you for your effort with the PC College it helps a lot.

Great video once again still waiting for the next koali beach video can't wait ! 👏😂
Silver: it’s only based on full throttle
Me: SKY ROCKET
cutback is now an option in the inversions menu for a lot of coasters
I believe the purpose of the thicker spine is so you can re create the top-hat element
Actually it is based off multiple coasters, but is mainly based off roller coaster manufacturer premier rides, who also built Full Throttle.
Great video, keep making these :D
They should remake this coaster in a way you can also recreate the skyrocket 2 coaster, because it is popular among themeparks!
What is the Maverick from Ceder Point?
Good stuff silv
I was trying to build a recreation of Mr.Freeze reverse blast using the multi-directional launch, but when the train went back over the track it would launch backwards again instead of going forward
Full Throttle also has a reverse launch but it's a midrun thing.
I would love to ride a real coaster from this type😍
Isn't Torque also based on Revenge of The Mummy at the Universal parks?
Have you watched Coaster Studio's Full Throttle Parody?
I think I did a while ago. Pretty sure I watched almost all of them :p
Silv! Ya know the really annoying kid who was talking about Flash at Lew World??? ThAT WAS MEEEEEEE
Silvarret then you made the second half
Can you put this on Steam Workshop please?
Yes please!
Will do later tonight!
Thank you, and could you do it with all of your PCC Coasters (including future ones) please?
You forgot to cut some things out, but great vid man :) (~9:00)
I love Full Thoughter its fun
Maybe you can do also the design in the Planet Coaster College
Just want to point out there are only 5 operating sky rockets 2 in the world. With another 3 in the works. I don't think it it at the level of the boomerang coasters yet with there being a ton of them.
OMG SO EARLY
Can vouch that Sky Rocket gets a bit of airtime. It's actually my favorite steel coaster at Kennywood.
Idk man the Steel Curtain is a beast

Unfortunately, though, the devs decided that shuttle coasters didn't exist, and patched the ability to make them out. I'm honestly starting to lose faith in Frontier.
the thick spine is to compensate for the stress put on the track by the train
Yo Silv, you mentioned Full Throttle being the only coaster resembling the Torque, but isn't Hollywood Rip Ride RockIt from Universal also this type of coaster?
That's an X-Car Coaster by Maurer Sohne - definitely a somewhat similar design, though.
Indeed you are correct. =) My thought process here is more along the lines of, Frontier trying to hit that middle ground, so that the coaster resembles as many coasters and their signature features, if there could be any truth to that?
theyre adding launches from the station in the next update!
Rip this comment
heej silv the new coaster in phantasialand Germany is one of these too right?
The b&m hyper/giga coastertracks are also thick sothat they need not so much supports
Sky rocket at kennywood has a pre launch section
love the videos! if u know ur computer specs can u tell me? i love how PC runs on ur PC
Why do you say looping rather than loop or the technical term vertical loop. For theme park vlogs I recommend theme park worldwide.
I think it's actually a language barrier thing - I've learned pretty much all coaster elements in English over the years, but 'looping' is the accepted term in Dutch, and the one term that for me has stuck rather than 'loop'. I'm a fan of TPW btw, and he's actually also replied to my stuff in the past if I remember correctly!
what about "Desert Race" from the "Heidepark Soltau", Germany?
Living Flower desert race is made by intamin, not premier like this coaster. So that's something for another video
The biggest loop in the world is on the Thunderbolt at ConeyIsland
They need a "back through station" ride option in this game. Then you could really make coasters like Tempesto at BG Williamsburg or vekoma boomerangs
The FreeMasons
Just pick the boomerang coaster.
Lol
They have the V2 model too.
Cool video, I am recreating Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. It's a spinning coaster though. ;)
What's actually your favourite coaster Silv ?
(From the ones you've ridden)
Adri Kerkhofs he said that in a video of koali beach, his favorite coaster is "De Vliegende Hollander" (The Flying Dutchman) in The Efteling
Whoops, missed that !
It's a really good one indeed.
lucky you I'm mid April they are makeing a vertical and non vertical coaster That goes in the station and out
5:27 if I remember correctly it costs less and has structural integrity with less supports
The "Tourqe" model is the Intamin Blitz like Maverick is. So there's more to base this on in real life than you think.
TheLoneArgonian Gaming torque is based off of the premier rides track used in full throttle while maverick uses intamin track because it is of course made by intamin. So while they are very similar as launched coasters featuring inversions, they are also somewhat different.
Well Frontier did put Philadelphia Toboggan Company trains on GCI track...
Both the track and trains of Torque are straight from Premier's Skyrocket model, actually!
Oh.
Okay.

Why are the cars with lap restraints if it can't invert? Can't wait til this death machine ejects riders out of their seats upside down.

whats the difference between full throttle and other launch coasters? six flags has more than one launch

good news you can play this on console now! It’s free on Xbox game pass
Does anyone know, if the forwards and backwards launch track piece, acts as a block brake also?
I would guess that a ride element that INTENTIONALLY sends a train backwards doesn't count as a block section for purposes of running multiple trains.
