    Excellent advice to keep the wing forward. This is the first video I’ve seen that provides the emphasis on keeping it forward because, as you said, the wing produces huge amounts of drag if it falls back. Well done, thank you for sharing!

      Thank you! I am glad you like it... its always the details that make a big difference and yet are forgotten when teaching a new move. This is the most important in this move!

    Excellent advise to keep the wing forward. I am still doing some toeside tack but many time this effect has happened with me and I haven´t had this perception. Thanks a lot

    Excellent advice for tacking. But, at the risk of being pedantic, I want to point out that riding 'switch' is not the same thing as riding 'toe side'. In particular:
    'Toe side' is riding with your toes pointing into the wind (and your body twisted almost 180°). 'Heel side' is riding with your back to the wind. Heel side is the most typical and most comfortable stance.
    'Regular' is riding with your left foot forward. 'Goofy' is riding with your right foot forward. This is true regardless of whether you are riding toe side or heel side. Whereas most people are naturally 'regular', some are naturally 'goofy'.
    So there are 4 different stances:
    (1) Heel side, regular.
    (2) Toe side, regular.
    (3) Heel side, goofy.
    (4) Toe side, goofy.
    'Switch' is defined as riding the opposite of your natural stance, ie: riding goofy if you are naturally regular, or regular if you are naturally goofy. You can't tell if someone is riding switch just by watching them (unless you already now if they are naturally regular, or naturally goofy).
    BTW, riding switch AND toe side is by far the most awkward and uncomfortable option.

      The switch = toeside terminology has been inherited from windsurfing. It is confusing now that winging has bought windsurfers and kiters together.

    • @robadair
      @robadair Год назад +1

      Exactly right. The windsurfers got it wrong

      Surely it makes more sense to use the phrase switch for riding toe side ,as you said noone except the rider or their good friends know if they are in switch or not using the phrase in the way you suggest

    Thanks! Great explanation! I didn't know how key the it was to keep the front handle in front of you. I'll try this! 👍 .. any advice on where to hold fhe front handle? Middle? Front of handle?

      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind  Год назад +1

      Hey! Glad I could help.
      As for your question it really depends on you wing and you. It doesnt make much of a difference.
      For example I hold it with a little gap from the front but just before the middle.

      @@kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind hi thanks! I have a nova V2 and V3. I hold it in front of the middle. Yesterday I managed a tack with little touch and go on the exit bit the entry, transition were really good. I also tried more to 'feel' the board with my feet. Trying to put more pressure on my toes, going in toeside to keep the carve... Anyway ..more important things.. I hope you guys are safe and well in Rhodos.

    It's hard to go fast when riding toe side, any tips for remedying this ?

    • @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind
      @kyriakosgiakoumaroswingandwind  4 месяца назад

      Sorry for the late reply! RUclips doesnt seem to want to notify me 😂
      This is very normal that you are slower in toe side and really the only thing I would say really works is to spend more time and get used to it. The more comfortable you get the faster you will be but most likely never as fast as normal stance. (There is a reason they waste time changing stance in races)
