I use the platinum bond to attach the Apres Tips for my daughter who could no longer use other gels, they made her fingers itch. This does great and no lifting. It does soak off, but it takes some time longer than other soft gels. I usually get 90% of the product off before reapplication of the Gel X
So would the Platinum Bond Duo be appropriate for a natural nail overlay? I usually use IBX Boost for this but just purchased a whole bunch of Kokiost products to try and am not sure if this is the right product for me. My natural nails are kind of weak but I like the strength that gel gives them. Thank you!
Great video Paola! That explains a lot! I have long but soft nails that bend and the times I've tried platinum duo bond it separates from my tips. For my clients however, I use Bio' Evo bases. They have 3 for the different types of nails like you explained for these. I wish you'd do some comparison between Bio & Japanese brands 😉 TFS!

Thanks so much for these introductory videos I had never used Japanese gel before. I'd describe myself as an intermediate-level at-home nail enthusiast. I only do my own/covid. I have been playing with the Bond duo in my dual forms for about a week. I'm pretty sure that dual forms are not the prescribed application method .. I keep them pretty short.. so it works well. If you use have only used cheap hard builder gel with dual forms, like me, you will notice immediately how much less pressure you need to shape and file with the Bond Dou Builder.. It was so nice to not have cuts all over myself. I can easily get it off my cuticles with a fine arbor band or large ball bit, with 0 chunks out of the gel at the cuticle lines, you know those divots you make while filing hard builder gel? Also that cool efile sweeping motion you see pros online do across the nail diagonally..I can finally do that with this stuff! My only problem was the Bond Dou was consistently cracking in half when I would try cutting them down to the desired length. I mean like every time. First I switched from my guillotine clippers to my nippers to clip them down.. still a few small cracks on the very edge.. My Best solution was mixing a small jar 2 to1 ratios of Bod Dou to Kokoist Ultra wipe top coat. Mixing it up and used a nice thick coat as the very first layer of my Dual form. I know terrifying this stuff is pricey..The result was a lovely playable, pinch freezable bendy base nail, I could trim down with no cracks. Then I used the pure Bond Dou over the top to build the apex and add strength. I really wish I had used Japanease gel when I was learning from the beginning I would have saved my hands and nails so much abuse. Sometimes if you are doing everything right and you still end up bleeding and unhappy..it's your product.
Would it be ok to use leafgel base gel under platinum bond duo for extra security if I didn’t want that added thickness with megastick base gel? :)) love this video though! super informative

Hi! Does this need to be pretty thick on square nails? I feel that every time I apply to square, I scrub the free edge, do a layer and cure, then a slip layer, build a slight apex, and cure. & I’ve experienced chipping on the edges. Any tips? Thanks in advance ❤️❤️
Yes, but we need a little bit more deep thinking. It is important to keep their strength and texture in mind. Mega is more soft gel like, so kind of bendy. Even if the client was a first timer, if natural where very long, thin or damaged, MYBE Mega Stick Base would not be enough. I would use it as a base coat and then overlay with Duo Bond.
I purchased Mega stick base, a few colours and glassy top coat. I currently have hard gel /trinity all in one on my nails. So can I just use the colour, or do I need to apply the kokoist base coat on top of my hard gel. I put hard gel because I currently use regular polish/change polish weekly or more often. thanks. Same! It doesn't contain HEMA, which is what I ended up being allergic to. Now I just use Platinum bond duo.

Nope. On its own, and you can apply a bit thicker than you normally would a base coat.

Don’t know the number. In my case, booked solid... a 25 ml gel base pot,1 month. 25ml builder 2 months.
