The way I see it, from what I understand its not about her putting the money back, it's the fact she took smth that not suposoed to be touched, use it, without telling behind his back. You can hear him saying "when did I say no", I feel if she asked, with his consent, at least there'll be somewhere to go. Like yea its money that shouldn't be touched, but if they had a proper discussion before hand like hey. I know this shouldn't be touched but i have this idea etc etc, it's about him being informed and in on the decision. To me that's what I feel it is. Her using smth that shouldn't be touched, without him knowing and behind is back all together in one fluster cluck situation. Even if it is a massive nono thing, communication needs to take place, he can't be hesistent about it since its money meant for the son, but at the very least she is honest and upfront with what she had in mind.
