Had a Yamaha YAS-62. A perfect horn for intermediate player. It’s very “safe”. Always in tune in all registers, the sound in very good, but…it lacks character, like all yamahas. Even with mouthpiece like dukoff metal its sound is very round. Perfect for a second alto in a bigband how doesn’t need to stand out. Then i swapped my Yamaha for a Canonball Gerald Albrigh signature alto in third year of college. That was the best swap ever! Bright, powerfull, flexible, incredibly big sound. Also had to swap the mouthpiece, because it could cope with the horn. I fitted it with a Beechler Belitte Metal 7. Now this combination is perfect. Edgy, bright and very powerful. And i play it for about 10 years. Just out of curriosity i would like to swap my Beehler for a Guardala fatboy 7 metal, because it should be a fuller sound.
@@olegk2479 the best one. But Expensive ☹ I have 62 and a love it. My yas 62 has yamaha custom neck silver plated and it make a huge difference for how my 62 sounds. And that I believe everyone who owns 62 must try custom necks and chose one that it's most appropriate for them. Instead of buying more expensive Yamaha models if you have 62 already then look for custom necks because it make 62 a totally different instrument
@@petroanhel125 thank You for You advice. But Yanagisawa and Cannonball have comparable price (about $3k). I want to buy Yanagisawa awo2 alto sax, I was consider to buy Yamaha 82 custom but I don’t get the difference between them, so I choose what I like more) I’ve never tried Cannonball saxophone, so this information is new for me. My current saxophone is Yamaha 275, I’m an amateur musician.
Wow, 03:15, you really getting down on that Sax. Reminded me of my Disco years. I wish that I could get one of those, but my tenant agreement won't allow it.
Alexandra, You have a very beautiful and smooth sound on that tenor!! I've been playing Alto, Bari, Tenor and Soprano sax since 1970!! And played a Yamaha Professional 61 since 74 with a metal Brilhart mouthpiece and Plasticover reeds for the last 25 years, until I lost my saxes in hurricane Harvey in 2017!!! But I will be replacing all of my saxes before the end of the year so that I can be joining my wife on her tour that's going to be coming to 3 different places in England next year!!! Oh, and her name happens to be SHANIA TWAIN!!!
Hi Kevan, thanks for your kind comment and great to hear that you've been playing the saxophone for so many years already. Have fun and keep on rocking! :)
@@ThomannMusic Yes, I played when I was 9 years old for about 5 years and during that time was good enough to be a paid union member at gigs. 40 years later I picked up the tenor saxophone 2 days ago and have fallen back in love with it.
I bought a Selmer Axos Tenor and I love it 😉 A very special saxophone and with just a lovely character. But the S80 isn't suitable for me so I stick with my Jody HR*. There is not one thing I miss with that saxophone. By the way did anyone know the name of the song Alexandra played with the YTS-280?
P. Mauriat mainly produces professional saxophones - what matters most is the feel, when playing the saxophone. How good it works for you is something only you can find out.
Do you have the downloadable sheet music with the track you played with the Thomson alto sax? It really sounded great and soothing. Great video. Thanks!
With Alexandra every sax sounds gorgeous 🤩🤩
è proprio vero!
Alexandra is refreshing as a reviewer. Everything she played would sound great in a performance she was playing! Thank you so much!
Exactly Alexandra make any sax to sound cool.
Well done Alex.
Just bought the latest version Eastman 652 Tenor a few months ago. Couldn't be happier.
