Thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times! you solved a big problem I had with a document that has weird table and figure names like: Table 3.2.S.2-2: Summary of XYZ (it is a chapter of a much larger document that I had to translate, so tables and figures don't start from scratch) and the numbering system of the typical captions was adding a number (table 1, etc) that was impossible to erase because of the sequence that it has to follow. With your system I was able to keep the original name of the tables and figures.
My deadline for thesis submission is today and this thing was eating my head up. You just saved my life, thank you!!!!
