  • In case anyone's unclear, this is all in good fun. Every creator I've featured here is someone I admire, and honestly, I'm a little jealous of those crazy miter stations! And while those may be out of reach for some of us, they were a great inspiration in the planning of this one.

    As a person who consumes a lot of wood working content; It's nice to see someone promoting "What can I do in the couple of hours I have on a Saturday afternoon, that will let me do more the next Saturday afternoon". Sometimes the best solution is productivity forward, not quality forward. "but you should take pride in every aspect!" you say. I do, but I take pride in the end product, and my end product isn't a miter saw station, today anyway.

    • @worstworkshop
      @worstworkshop  11 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks so much! In the end, it's a bench to support your boards. It could be a sawhorse, if your floor is flat enough. This was way more fun though. I really enjoyed seeing what I could do with it other than use it with my miter saw.

    I built the most amazing station for my miter sat / router / chop saw. / sideways table saw / planer / and sander. 12 ft on each side that fold down to make lockable cabinets for my shop vacuum and spray paints. It is So over engineered with the center section changes for the desired power tool. but since its outside under my car port I can never just leave the tool on it. The big spool that fell off a power company’s trailer has become my go to. I just slapped a fresh sheet of plywood on the top and a pice of dry erase surface over that. Its not what I had originally planned but it gets used more than the purpose built table because that always has something that I have picked up along the way and haven’t found a place to store it yet. A wooden bed frame or a nice drawer I might repurpose. that over built workbench has become a catch all For other projects. the big ol spool is my mostly used work bench because it is clear from clutter because all the other stuff ends up on the real work bench. Great video I am enjoying your channel so far. Good editing I appreciate it. The audio levels at the start are a little off but the video as a whole is well done.

      The whole system is new, so I guess I'll see over time. All I can say is that I've never seen one move yet. And when you knock in a holdfast, it's SOLID. If you can swing it, the forged ones are much better than these cast ones I have. Someday I'll upgrade and use these elsewhere.

    Thank you for the videos. Great to include your girls. While I enjoy the humor (keep it coming), I also recognize the kernels of truth and basic utility in your videos. In this video, I like the idea of attaching the thick board underneath the table top in order to allow your "hold fasts" to function properly. I would have tried to make the entire table top extra thick. Your way works, is cheaper and gets me to working on projects faster.
