The Legend of Dragoon, to this day, is the BEST JRPG I have ever played. This game deserves more love. It's fans deserve a remake or remaster. Please Sony, do the right thing.

Recently downloaded this on PS5 and beat it. My favorite RPG since I was a kid. Felt good to level everyone up, unlock all additions, beat every side quest. I hope they make a LoD2.
I read another interview a while back that talked about the sequel, and it seemed to have more insider perspective. They claimed they were all rather shocked there was so much demand for a sequel despite the game not selling quite up to sony standards, and despite only being planned as a 1-off event. That said, when they heard the demand they got into the pre-production phases and started working some ideas out, but as time went on they realized they just didn't have any ideas they believed in, so they dropped the project. Gotta say, as a big LOD fan that story sat pretty well with me. Though I would love a sequel I don't mind it being a 1-off game, especially if the alternative is them making a game they don't really have the best ideas for.
They should completely remake this game from top to bottom. Keep everything in the original in the new one and up date it for today's standards regarding gameplay.. Then announce a sequel. It will pull in fans and help the sell of the next game.

Can't remember how many times i ran this game, same with chrono cross, ff series and legend of legaia. Yup, these were my childhood. As suggested by some earlier posts, a Prequel will definitely a Hit.. DRAGON CAMPAIGN TIMELINE!!!
I just want an HD edition with voice acting added in. Not an FF7R style rebuild. And I don't think there's really any room for a sequel in this story. It's story already covered so much and was a solidly complete narrative.

This is probably the most long awaited sequel of all time. Compared by views it knocked every other series out of the park in the lost game series we have. Personally, I need this series revived.
Aside from a remake that keeps the same atmosphere and filling it plot holes and expanding upon other story details, I think going backwards with The Legend of Dragoon would be best. A game or so centered around the events of the Dragon Campaign and the Dragoons who fought in it would be interesting (Rose, Zieg Feld, Damia, Shirley, Kanzas, Syuveil, and Belzac). Hell, we could find there may have be a few Dragoons *before* the ones that partook in the final battle of Kadessa; the Wingly Capital. Like, maybe someone else harnessed the Spirits from the Jade Dragon and Red-Eyed Dragon before Syuveil and Zieg became their hosts later on? Not only that but there is over 11,000 years of lore to play with within The Legend of Dragoon. Only Rose, Zieg, and (presumably) Shirley's Spirit still had their respective Dragoons up until the main events of the game's story. So what happen to the other 4 Spirits during that vast time and caused them to get to their current locations or owners during that time? There easily could have been other Dragoons unrecorded by history that fate required for something (at the Crystal Palace, Haschel and/or Albert read that no others have been known since the Dragon Campaign ended. And even Albert I think says something along the lines about how what is written is not necessarily the truth). Also it is implied Kongol's elder brother Indora may have been a Dragoon as well at some point in the past, as he'll give you the Golden Dragon Spirit if the player does not already have it by the endgame. Though for what purpose he had it is unknown. Other than that little fact, the Blue Sea, Jade, Golden, and Violet Dragon Spirits remain unaccounted for during those 11,000 years. Other than the fact that "Emperor Diaz" somehow came across the Blue Sea, Jade, and Violet spirits within the last 18 years of so prior to the game's events and gave them to Emperor Doel, Lenus, and Greham for his own sinister ambitions...
Good suggestions. During the dragon campaign, these heros killed their respected dargons making them into dragoons with the use of their spirits. A plot line surrounding these battles as humans fought the winglies for control and power would be unreal. Im shocked they havent explored a re make or prequal

I actually had this game when it first came out for PS1 and I got it by accident but loved it as equally as I do Final Fantasy 7. I got LOD by accident when I told my mom I wanted the FF7 RPG game for PS1 and she said she would buy it for me after work one day. Well my mom raised me and my 10 siblings as a single mom so sometimes things would slip her mind. She forgot the name of the game I wanted and when she talked with a coworker who she was giving a ride home to about the type of game they heard RPG and multiple discs and all that I had told her and they went with her to the store and showed her LOD saying that's what I was talking about because at that time LOD was the only RPG for PS1 the store had because FF7 was sold out. So when my mom got home I was so excited until she showed me the LOD game and I was so disappointed and mad at the time saying I didn't want it that she had to take it back and trade it for FF7 the next day. Well later that day my older brother who first showed me FF1 and got me into RPGs in the first place came to me and said he talked about LOD with some of his gamer friends and they said id like it because its alot like FF but its got a few special things of its own that make it unique but just as enjoyable so i should try it. Let's just say that from the moment I started playing it that night with my brother I didn't stop playing it everyday whenever I had a chance as long as my brother was there too that is because he was instantly as hooked as I was too. I played LOD right until the very end with my brother and some friends enjoying every fight cutscene and up and down of the game right there by my side. I ended up not getting FF7 until I finished playing LOD and then I finally tried out FF7 but LOD captured My love jist like FF amd will always b an equal with FF7

I believe that doing a game of the dragon campaign would not be great because we know the outcome. I think they can do a game where the main villain is Soa itself. If he greatest Virage embryo to destroy the world they can make a set of new dragoons to combat this God. Maybe have a descendant of one of the dragoon play as a guide with their own dragoon like Rose's character to a main protagonist. But maybe instead of doing a set character, let us change to build a completely unique team.
Just because we know how certain things happen doesn't mean we should explore the post and expand it. Your comment would mean the PreSequels is pointless because we know Vader was a Jedi that turned to the Dark side. We know that Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr will be ome enemies, no reason to explore how they met, became friends with X-Men First Class. Even if we know the ending outcome we do not know how that outcome was gained therefore we would want to know how we get to the point of war, get humans learning they can fuse with the souls of Dragons to compete with the apex race, Winglies.
I would give my kidney to someone who has the power and money to fund a dedicated remake or sequel to Legend of Dragoon. I would willingly sacrifice literal health points to make it happen

the legend of dragoon was an alright game. if we get a remake or remaster they need to either make it an action rpg since its attack timing is already built for it to use your techniques and it would in turn give the dragoon forms more opportunity to shine and be more useful or drastically increase the speed of the battles since is was unbearable slow and annoying after a short while.
It's much better than just alright let's be honest. An action rpg could be a good approach as you mentioned. The game was in fact rereleased, there's a ps4 and ps5 version that was released this year. PS4 is up-scaled to 1080p PS5 is up-scaled to 1440p It even has 47 The Legend of Dragoon trophies, but the fps is still the same and it's not what we the fans wanted for such a classic. So much is missing.
It doesn't matter if its a sequel, preqeul, remake or remaster. People demands it to be revived no matter what, it was just overshadowed in the time of it's release. Aside from the horrible voice acting, everything 10/10. Still hoping for UE4 remake without any changes, i want to experience the battle sequence that separated the game from it's competition, yeah that unique battle system that nobody thought of in it's time.

the longer im waiting for final fantasy 7 rebirth the more i ask myself why this game got abondend back than. it litterly had the best Story /immersion build up of all rpgs ive ever played. the only thing they should have changed was the walkways wich sometimes realy felt unnessacairy long and the fact that the old game was on 15 fps or something wich caused problems with attack move detection on specific weapons wich could lead to situations where the outcome of a fight got dictated by rng over skill. puzzles and mechanics been outdated back than aswell but the speed of scenerie change combined with the qualitystory glued it together. up to today it only has ff5 and ff7 as competitors for best rpg of all times wich both been games with minor mistakes aswell (ff5 giga fun to play but relative poor story and ff7 had a great story but didnt play with the player, little to no humor included plus the fun and innovative mechanics a lotta times felt like they been a game in a game rather than part of the game (gold saucer, chocobos , fort condor)
They put in back on the PlayStation store with trophies and some tweaks, but we need a real remake or sequel. But like you said, maybe in the PlayStation Showcase Event, we could get a surprise.

I downloaded it on my ps5, too, just to show support for the title. Maybe they made it a point to put it in the store to bring some attention to it for the future reboot?
Legend of Dragoon is great, though I would describe the script as so bad its good, and the story is a little basic. Nothing is truly like it in the combat department, though. For a somewhat similarly satisfying experience, I recommend Xenogears, Shadows Hearts Series, Super Mario Rpg, Tales of Series, and Starocean Series.
Maybe also Chrono Cross. We definitely need a 2 but a remake would be good with modern graphics as long as they stuck with the original elements and none of this modern woke perverse nonsense that wrecks the old style that was the legends. Like final fantasy 7 remake, that was a total flop, they will destroy the history and legacy if they go that idiotic foolish route...

You can do it with Unreal Engine 5 and other game development applications. Just be ready with a lot of memory space

the legend of dragoon was an alright game.
if we get a remake or remaster they need to either make it an action rpg since its attack timing is already built for it to use your techniques and it would in turn give the dragoon forms more opportunity to shine and be more useful or drastically increase the speed of the battles since is was unbearable slow and annoying after a short while.
It's much better than just alright let's be honest. An action rpg could be a good approach as you mentioned. The game was in fact rereleased, there's a ps4 and ps5 version that was released this year.
PS4 is up-scaled to 1080p
PS5 is up-scaled to 1440p
It even has 47 The Legend of Dragoon trophies, but the fps is still the same and it's not what we the fans wanted for such a classic. So much is missing.

It doesn't matter if its a sequel, preqeul, remake or remaster. People demands it to be revived no matter what, it was just overshadowed in the time of it's release. Aside from the horrible voice acting, everything 10/10. Still hoping for UE4 remake without any changes, i want to experience the battle sequence that separated the game from it's competition, yeah that unique battle system that nobody thought of in it's time.

the longer im waiting for final fantasy 7 rebirth the more i ask myself why this game got abondend back than. it litterly had the best Story /immersion build up of all rpgs ive ever played. the only thing they should have changed was the walkways wich sometimes realy felt unnessacairy long and the fact that the old game was on 15 fps or something wich caused problems with attack move detection on specific weapons wich could lead to situations where the outcome of a fight got dictated by rng over skill. puzzles and mechanics been outdated back than aswell but the speed of scenerie change combined with the qualitystory glued it together. up to today it only has ff5 and ff7 as competitors for best rpg of all times wich both been games with minor mistakes aswell (ff5 giga fun to play but relative poor story and ff7 had a great story but didnt play with the player, little to no humor included plus the fun and innovative mechanics a lotta times felt like they been a game in a game rather than part of the game (gold saucer, chocobos , fort condor)
Imagine this game in a FF7 Remake style

They put in back on the PlayStation store with trophies and some tweaks, but we need a real remake or sequel. But like you said, maybe in the PlayStation Showcase Event, we could get a surprise.
Oh, I know they put it in the store. I was quoting you/joking. I really hope they reboot this ip. I kept my old ps so I could play it on occasion. I downloaded it on my ps5, too, just to show support for the title. Maybe they made it a point to put it in the store to bring some attention to it for the future reboot?

Legend of Dragoon is great, though I would describe the script as so bad its good, and the story is a little basic. Nothing is truly like it in the combat department, though.
For a somewhat similarly satisfying experience, I recommend Xenogears, Shadows Hearts Series, Super Mario Rpg, Tales of Series, and Starocean Series.
You definitely listed a nice list of games. Good choices. The script was really good, I felt.
