    Such a highly-rated drummer, yet still severely underrated regardless! I can't say he's my all-time favorite drummer, 'cause he's SO MUCH MORE than merely a "drummer"; he's the musicians' musician and my all-time favorite of THAT kind!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    I can totally relate to the audience member yelling "Thank You!!!" at the ending of In the Dead of Night. It's one thing to see and hear one of your favorite musicians playing one of your favorite songs but, it's another thing to hear them play it not only differently but to add to it in a way that's totally unexpected and even more rich than the recording. Such was the flair Bruford added to the ending.

    Bill's YES drumming will never cease to exists when he plays it will always be there and the reason He is such a unique drummer in my opinion, He went to King Crimson and a successful solo career but his YES inclination and sharp snare will always be there! Bless You Bill forever my favorite amazing drummer!

      Yes, and Buford is one of his idols “Peart praised the British musician, saying: “Bill Bruford is one of my favorite drummers. I admire him for a whole variety of reasons. And I like the stuff he plays, and the way he plays it. I like the music he plays within all the bands he’s been in.”

      Agree. His jazz touch is authentic. There are no other rock drummers who have such a feel. Baker, Palmer and Mitch Mitchell came close but Bill's tight swing is very modern like Tony Williams. None of them had that. Incredible musician.

    I am a big fan from way back.
    For anyone who is not familiar with this drum part, I highly recommend listening you Yes’ “Starship Trooper,” especially in the “speak to me of summer” sections. The poly-rhythmic precision is artistic perfection and will blow your mind. Nobody else has ever played like that.

    • @OldMusicGuy99
      @OldMusicGuy99 Год назад +2

      [“Starship Trooper,” especially in the “speak to me of summer” sections.]
      Funny you should mention that section. I saw Yes in the round (long ago) and it must have been just as Alan White replaced Bruford. I knew many of the parts, and I noticed that White was just basically keeping time through that section; not playing Bruford's part at all. Also, Howe was giving White hand signals for stops and accents, so White must not have had much time to prepare at all. Nothing against White, he sounds better now, it's just that there was certainly a simpler "feel" to Yes without Bruford's input.

    Why doesn't Tama market that configuration? The man personally engineered it to deliver, with, what I'm guessing was ease for him, the absolute most musicality .
    Perhaps "personally engineered" is a tad grandiloquent . Ergonomically arranged, rather.

      I'm pretty sure it's for the showmanship, people can see his foot working. He's said how he takes showmanship into account, like putting cymbals way up in the air, so people can see big movements and what he's hitting. It's amazing how he re-imagined and innovated modern drumming and drumset MULTIPLE times.
