  • In this episode, we welcome Pastor Joby Martin back to the show. In this interview, we discuss what it was like when his congregation gave his father a standing ovation, how we can determine if we are making the correct decision according to God’s will, how we should view the use of curse words, if he would kill baby Hitler, how his prayer life has evolved over time, why God gave us commandments and laws, and much more. Regarding the use of curse words. I think God knows our heart, I also think the closer we are walking with God, the less we want to even use profanity because it quenches the Holy Spirit, (I don’t want to let down my dad). But I’m also not religious. I’m a fireman, and I can tell you that we are masters of seeing through BS, and when a person is sincere everyone knows it, and when a person is a liar, everyone knows that too. I don’t have a clear answer, but I do encourage believers to stay close to God, His spirit will shine through us, as we are all works in progress.

This same question was asked and this was my response...
What is foul language? Most of us immediately think "cuss words." I could be wrong, but I have never read a scripture that says, "thou shall not cuss." What I have read is that our words matter & I would say even the tone of our voice matters. As followers of Christ we should use our words to build people up(edification), not tear them down( guilty as charged). The Greek word in Eph. 4:29 is sapros which means rotten or worthless. Our tongue is sharper than a two-edged sword. Jesus said it's not what goes into the mouth, but out of it that defiles a man. Psalms & Proverbs, Paul's letters & James all talk about how we use our words/tongues. James 3:5 says the tongue (small) can set a forrest on fire, I think of how big wildfires can spread & destroy millions and even kill. I can say shit & damn & build someone up or not a single "cuss" word can come out of my mouth & I can tear them down where they want to kill themselves or me. But it also says that we are in the world, but should not be of the world. Eph. 4:17 says we should no longer walk as the Gentiles walk & to lay aside your old self and be renewed. Not to be sacrilegious, but I wonder what words came out of Jesus when He flipped the money table in the temple(if any words came out).... We talk a lot about the lamb, but rarely about the lion. But at the end of the day, it's always the same issue.... the heart.

The question was "to when he was a BABY." That is the defining part of the question.
As such, the correct answer is to be a DAD. If you raise a disciple, if you raise him in the path he should go, then he would never have departed from it.
Yes, the answer really is that simple. Look him up, and you will see he had an abusive father. Of course, we ALL know what happens without a DAD, not simply a father, a DAD. "Father" is nothing more than a biological word. Only a real men can be A DAD. The problem in this instance is that never happened.
So, if he would have had a DAD, his life would have turned out different. It really is that simple. He had a desperate need, which was never met. So, if you could go back in time, to when he was A BABY, the correct answer is to feel a moral obligation to meet that need. So, be the DAD he so desperately needed. Disciple him. Mentor him. Raise him in the way he should go, and he will not depart from it.
Do that, and he would have had a very different future. As a result, the world would had a very different future.
