Actually from thier television show she was and still a mess, Gary had to do her part as a parent let's not forget she spent his/they money foolishly many times on projects that failed.
Stringing your family along for 2 months is insane, and If he really didn't want to blindside her, he should have told her when he filed, not on the day she was getting served. That's traumatic.
Oh and I really think that the word underrated is overused. Gary Owen is properly rated. He has many movies and a number of comedy specials. All the ones I have seen are in sold out theaters. What is he missing? So in no way is he “underrated!” He is properly rated thank you.

Gary already knew that California is 50/50, and the wife should have received half because she build his small empire. Gary went to Ohio because it’s not a 50/50. Gary was wrong!

I had the privilege of being Gary's guide while in college when he came to perform. He was hella cool and exactly like this video. My mom loved him, as did my roommates. The stories he shared about how he dodged his own wife and kids during a traumatic time is telling of how he was as the man of his household. Just imagine all the traumatic stories he didn’t share.
You mean the wife that refused to open up the door when she knew she was about to get severed? The person that could've made it a simple process right then and there?
Did you all miss the part that he was playing the same games of dodging the process of being served? I never said 44K was ok either. They were both wrong but he’s the one missing out on being a part of his kids lives. Shannon got it right. He became the man he hated in his father.

So he go get a lawyer to get divorce, disappear from your wife and children for two months to try to get her served, never tell her you filed for the divorce and you wonder why your children dont speak to you. If you could treat their mother that way then how do you really treat them?
Hurt people hurt people. Let’s look at the upside….. this man who was destined for poverty, alcoholism, etc found a way to live with his trauma and has the transparency, the willingness to be open about it. That takes courage. Besides, we all crazy.
He cheated several times and was gone on the road.. then files for divorce in a state that puts her at a disadvantage financially and after her taking care of his kids that’s just wrong! Then he wonders why his kids don’t talk to him..?
You didn’t just cheat on your wife, you cheated on your kids too. The kids had to deal with the aftermath of mending their mother’s heart after their father broke it…they didn’t sign up to be in a broken home. I too, STILL feel some type of way towards my dad when he cheated on my mother when I was 5; they put in the work and are still going strong 25 years later. But a child will never forget how their mother cries….just don’t cheat.
He cheated on his wife, not the kids. Good parents separate their personal issues from their children. I never understood why mothers bash their children’s fathers. If the father is really a deadbeat the truth always comes out. My parents are divorced. My father would always bash my mother in front of me. My mother never once said anything bad about him to me. Guess what, I’m 31 years old and now I can see with my own eyes everything my mom went through.
@@aishariel9924nah he cheated on the children too. Cheated them right out of a two parent home. Children without fathers in the home are at greater risk for poverty and incarceration. They were most definitely cheated, no matter how much people say they weren’t. It’s proven that divorce is traumatic for the children involved.
People like you that don’t actually heal and project this way is why cycles continue. He cheated on his wife, with his kids he could have still had an healthy relationship. If anything it teaches adversity and hardships. He didn’t kill his wife he cheated.
He didn’t understand why she did it in LA and not the Bay Area which is where there house is. If you don’t know Cali, that’s like 8-11 hours away from eachother.
His kids are adults. They've seen way more than what's being disclosed. If they're not talking to him, there's definitely a reason. Not to mention them knowing he was constantly cheating on their mother. A lot of people don't realize that the kids feel betrayed as well. I hope they work it out, but I don't think it plays in his favor with him publicly acting like he doesn't understand why they don't want to talk to him. That's not taking accountability for how he made them feel.
Thank you. When he said "Where do you want to go? Dubai? Thailand?" Just makes it seem like he wants to buy them back. Not putting in the effort to understand them in the first place.
So he probably knows more than he's saying. But as humans, we don't always tell people we have a beef with every single reason why. Sometimes we just shut them out and move on. I have a friend in prison I haven't spoken to in years. He's gonna die in prison. I think he knows why I don't call or visit. But I never outright told him because I'm so disappointed. Point being, sometimes people truly don't know the full story why we cut them out. Maybe Gary did something beyond forgiveness. I'll leave it up to him and his kids to work out, I'm curious but end of the day its not really for me to know.
And he’s not qualified to do so and it’s not just about the lack of credentials, it’s the clear and unabashed male bias. Shannon needs therapy for his viewpoint on women. I like his shows except for his take on women. Women are either exploited, exploiters or gold diggers.
When grown "children" don't mess with a parent more than likely there is a good reason. Perhaps in Gary's case the "kids" don't like that he cheated on their mom? Ya think? By the way, his oldest child is 30 and his youngest aside from his new twins is 19. They are adults and old enough to arrive at their own conclusions about their dad and his behavior.
It doesn't surprise me that his kids took their mom's side. If you watch their reality show, the family always treated him like a guest who was there to pay the bills. In the shows, everything is all about her. He was an outsider in his own home. You almost get the impression that he was the step-dad - the kids didn't listen to him. He was the butt of all the family jokes. He'd just smile and act happy. He shouldn't have cheated, but she could've treated him better. The kids don't value him enough to hear him out. He still paid their college tuition.
@@dionnehemphill469 That happens when dad is gone most of the time, even if he's "good" when he's around. The fact is, *she* was the bedrock so it's natural the kids will be on their mother's side. I can identify with that completely. He was a type of guest. If you're gone the majority of the time, show up and play with the kids, that's not making an emotional investment enough to bond with your children. If there is no bond, nothing can be broken. They were never fully attached to him. That was his choice. He wanted a family but also wanted to be a traveling comedian. No different from doctors, professional military folks, truck drivers, taxi drivers, etc. I rarely remember my father being around. While he wasn't abusive, he was absent. Yes he was earning money but money can't nurture you. So when my dad and mom divorced who do you think us kids favored? The one who was there.

He pretty much said it. He was on the road a lot, cheated multiple times and then didn't even tell them before he filed for divorce. The fact that the kids don't speak to him now speaks volumes. They are old enough where if he was such a great dad to them, no amount of badmouthing on the part of their mom could sway their opinions. And that story about the daughter hiding in the bathroom, so he left? Thats not a dad that is too broken up about not seeing his kids.
Gary and Kenya were together 20+ years. No matter how done he was with the marriage, he owed her the respect of telling her that he planned to file for divorce. He comes across as if children should be able to separate the fact he was a good dad from the fact he lied to and deeply hurt their mom. The details of what led to the breakdown of their marriage are insignificant to how he is using notoriety to recruit people onside. The Bible says no adulterers in heaven and it specifically says in the NT that a man who does not provide for/take care of his family has denied the faith and is worst than a nonbeliever. This man's family is the one he abandoned.
Gary u needed this. This is the 1st step of where to turn for healing. Sometimes even when we try our best to not become those that hurt us, we still have traits. Re-evaluate yourself often. And give yourself pros & cons & reasoning. Your journey began, but u have to travel it.
He doesn't talk to any family it seems. Got problems with mom, dad, stepdad, exwife, children, stepchildren, siblings, baby's-mama, pretty much the white race as a whole..... Seems he treats people as disposable & puts all the blame on everyone else with no self-reflection. When you have the kind of money he does, helping them all financially should have been a given from jumpstart, but he acts like they only want transactional relationships. Surely they can't all be wrong in their perceptions.
She gave you half her life; she deserved half the marital income. Trifling in the marriage and more trifling in the divorce (proven by your own words/stories).
That’s the thing I was thinking. I’m not judging because I’ve seen good parents who’s children act entitled and use it against their parents. I’ve seen kids who were manipulated by the other parent. And I’ve seen kids who cut ties with their manipulative parents. We aren’t there behind closed doors so we shouldn’t act like we know
Now it becomes clear why she felt so deeply hurt. He failed to discuss their breakup like an adult, opting instead for silence and cowardice. He filed for divorce while being out of the house and remained away, avoiding any confrontation. After more than two decades together, he did not show her the dignity and respect that any mother of his children deserves. It was callous of him to reach out just before she was served divorce papers. How many conversations did he have with her regarding their home and the kids in the days or weeks between filing and the process server's arrival? It’s truly appalling. He made a bad call then kept making it worse.
I love Gary's comedy. I've seen kids not forgive a parent who cheated on another both ways. It's hard to watch your parent suffer because of cheating. I can see how Gary feels that he did better than his dad so he should be considered a great dad but that's not how it goes. I completely understand as someone whose kids have it better than me. Those kids don't see it that way. He is also spilling the tea everywhere. Boys also hate to see there mom's hurt and I've seen daughters walk away from a cheating mom after a divorce as well. He cheated on his wife, not the kids. Good parents separate their personal issues from their children. I never understood why mothers bash their children’s fathers. If the father is really a deadbeat the truth always comes out.

I think the kids feel betrayed by their father as well due to his infidelity
It’s sad that women will turn their kids against their father. Her relationship with him is separate from his relationship with the kids.

Well a lot of this is already out there because of the social media bomb from the wife… he’s just giving his context
Right!
You probably have issues and don't talk to people. Sometimes it's better to vent and talk to someone even if it's on a widely viewed show.
Gary, like u said, don't listen to none of these comments. Do u. Especially this person
“Someone has to be the bad guy and for some reason I (Gary) became the bad guy” when yeah you cheated on your wife multiple times 🤦♂️
Right!!! Like…huh???🫠
Honestly he isn't good at communicating , the way he handled the divorce totally uncalled for... Hope him and his children can mend things
Shut up, women do worse.
Do you know this man? How did he handle his divorce?
No I don't , but the way he said he handled his divorce on club shay shay is what I'm going by his words
@@CeceWestsidethe internet the judgement from the experts on the couch. Get outta his business.
Well said
Really sad how he treated his wife, not just lying to stall her, but avoiding the entire family during a pandemiic, probably leaving his wife & the kids worried about him 😢 --- he's been doing this so long he doesn't seem to understand how vile he comes across. Maybe this interview is part of his karma, because he just exposed himself.
That evil women got what she got. She’s just mad because he beat her to the divorce.
@@CharlesXavier-kh3fx I Agree
@@CharlesXavier-kh3fx I don't know what they got & I don't care tbh, I'm more focused on how Gary treated his family. I hope they all can make peace one day.
How you know how he treated her, just asking, you sound like you know them personally because if you don’t, you are just siding with her, it’s been over before the divorce, usually years at least 3, somebody just decided to act on it.
Did hear what he said? He explain why?
You good Shay Shay helping Gary putting things in perspective about his Divorce and his Dad and Stepdad. God Bless Gary and his life and pray he can get a relationship with his kids. 🙂☮️💜💫✝️🙏🏾
Shannon, you did it again! I really enjoyed this interview and I listened to ALL of it! Both did not handle the divorce process correctly AND both dodged the process server so..I just pray that the relationship with his children is repaired sooner than later cuz life is really short. It's okay to start at baby steps but START. I pray they listen to the interview openly and seek to understand him as Dad and not the comedian cuz he dropped nuggets. Best wishes Gary can't wait to see you in Naptown.
She didn’t divide him and the kids
If he was bonded properly with his kids nothing could break them because they would see him as a good dad despite the divorce
They kids been iffy about him
That's exactly what he said, he wish he had a bond that was strong no matter what with his kids..... he said that
@@kristakitchen2559sounds like its his own fault.
I don't know what you are talking about if you have a bitter baby mama she can consciously or unconsciously poison the kids against you.
Nah, very likely she did feed the divide.
My mom did similar. They fell apart, she moved us away to another state then country, fed us 1 side of the story and bad mouthed him at every opportunity … as a kid you internalize these views not to mention if no communication was the standard set from childhood to young adulthood.
Yea. I wuz thinkin it wuz her. But thats tru af tho
I love how honest and funny gary is
Adultery is not honest it’s heart breaking
Dang Gary put his wife through it

Gary is really triflin. I had no idea he mistreated his family like this.
You still don't have any idea, Judge William Pinch. Just how is he triflin, he hasn't pretended to be anybody he isn't. What you see is a snapshot of the American secular culture, that has been seduced by materialism, sensual imagery all the downstream spawn from the 60's revolution against everything truly Christ like. He hasn't mistreated his family and I ask that you state where that was said.
He gave his family everything he owed them. The kids grown. He wasn’t willing to let go of his success too. I don’t blame him.

Not only did he cheat, but he didn’t tell his wife he wanted a divorce before he filed and lied as to why he wasn’t coming home for two months, likely because he was laid up with another women. He did her dirty, I’m not saying he didn’t have a good excuse to not be married but the bottom line is he did his wife dirty.
That was a great interview!! Honest and funny. Everyone deserves a second chance, I pray him and his kids reconcile. Divorce and separation is never good. It's always a lot of emotions involved

I hope one day, they can reconcile. Gary has to understand that breaking mom's heart, hurting mom, and breaking his promise to her is the same as doing it to the kids. He cheated on THE FAMILY. So they gon be mad for a while. But like I said, I really hope they can reconcile. ❤❤❤❤

I don’t want to be your husband ≠ I don’t want to be a father
Not gonna happen.
Very different relationships and responsibilities. This is how women turn kids from their fathers by attaching a romantic relationship to parental obligations. Sick.
I don’t understand how people can say kids stay out of it and you’re literally changing their lives because of what you guys have going on. They didn’t ask to be here it was either your irresponsibility or your responsibility either way it was on you so they have every right to feel a way especially if you’re the reason it happened.
Wow. Shay Shay is wise. What a grown man telling Gary "There can never be freedom without forgiveness." Shay, you make a great therapist!
Well he doesn’t talk to his mother so there you have it.. he shouldn’t be confused if his kids don’t talk to him
His stepfather is hateful
Sometimes space is best
Stupid “logic”. Things are never that easy.

Right he don't have that kind of money. They owed the irs money and needed to sell the house. How he got $44k/mo to give another person?
Thanks for your transparency. Divorce is hard & prayerfully his relationship with the kids reconcile.
She gave you half her life; she deserved half the marital income. Trifling in the marriage and more trifling in the divorce (proven by your own words/stories).
Them kids got a reason.
With this ungrateful entitled generation??? Nah sometimes you can have good parents and still not appreciate them!
Sounds like it’s pleasing mom. Not right.
@@giared74exactly
That’s the thing I was thinking. I’m not judging because I’ve seen good parents who’s children act entitled and use it against their parents. I’ve seen kids who were manipulated by the other parent. And I’ve seen kids who cut ties with their manipulative parents. We aren’t there behind closed doors so we shouldn’t act like we know
Yeah siding with a bitter mother who’s mad over $
Spiritual warfare is real. Even when you do everything right, we will still go through hard times. As well as have things happen that are just unfair.
Amen
Absolutely!!! It’s hard and hurtful.
He tore his own family apart. He made his own bed.
He made some terrible choices
Only what God allows
Now it becomes clear why she felt so deeply hurt. He failed to discuss their breakup like an adult, opting instead for silence and cowardice. He filed for divorce while being out of the house and remained away, avoiding any confrontation. After more than two decades together, he did not show her the dignity and respect that any mother of his children deserves. It was callous of him to reach out just before she was served divorce papers. How many conversations did he have with her regarding their home and the kids in the days or weeks between filing and the process server's arrival? It’s truly appalling. He made a bad call then kept making it worse.
He was MESSYYY. His kids definitely have legit reasons.
That's a punk answer
That's none of his kid's business.
Money doesn't fix it.
How is this highlight an hour long 😂

Thanks for sharing the vulnerability. I'm going through the suffering of divorce and for some reason it helps to listen to other humans trying their best to make life work out.
