Imagine two best friends. A sweetheart boy around the age of 19 and an immortal who stopped aging at 20. Each day the sweet boy is reminded again and again by the immortal that he is immortal. He doesn't try to hide it, he doesn't try to fake normality. He's done that before and it ended horribly each time. This time he tried oh so hard to push the sweet boy away, telling him over and over that they could never age together, but the sweet boy didn't care. Did he not believe him? Did he not care? The immortal was never sure. Yet, one thing he *was* sure of, is that he couldn't push him away. The sweet boy was everything he needed in a friend. They spent only a few years together but it felt like they had known each other for an eternity. And for one of them, that was really saying something. But times were not good. No, a great war had begun only a year after they'd met. Each day it felt like some new horrible news was reaching their ears, and the immortal just couldn't understand how the sweet boy stayed so cheery. Maybe he felt it would all end soon; maybe he felt there was no purpose in worrying about what you can't control. Whatever it was, the immortal took strange comfort in it. Soon, news came of something worst yet: a nuclear attack was set to happen that afternoon. For the first time, the immortal saw something truly sad in the sweet boy's eyes, but they were quickly replaced with a glance at the immortal filled with questions.

I had a concept for a story where the main character journeys to the afterlife, and at the very edge of the universe, meets the creator god. However, his house isn't a big heavenly castle, but actually an old vintage train station from way back when that doubles as a living space. He finds the god in an old man's robe, crouching, drawing a portrait of him, and his friends, putting them up next to their respective family trees that he had also drawn portraits for, and as this song plays as he turns around, facing the protagonist, and smiles.
The end of all things. this will be the song that plays during my funeral.
