Lovely vlog Carrie. Just want to add an important fact: 95% of curry restaurants are owned, managed and food cooked by Bangladeshis. Bengali cooking is more flavoursome with heat as that is how it is cooked at home. It’s not Indian style of cooking its more like Bangladeshi style of cooking, it’s our own version because not all curries are Indian in fact some of the dishes on the menu don’t even exist in India but since Bengalis have introduced it in the UK Indians started taking credit for it. The Chicken Tikka Mossala is a British Bengali dish created by a Bangladeshi in the UK, just like the many dishes you find in a curry restaurant in the UK or anywhere else but the Indians have taken the credit for it and claim it’s their dishes only because they saw these dishes were becoming popular, not all curries are from India because every region has its own style and Bengal certainly has its own. Bangladeshis like Latif Inspired (Chef & Restauranteur), Tommy Miah (Chef & Restauranteur), Afelia's kitchen (Chef & Entrepreneur) , Rehana’s Food Diaries (Chef & Entrepreneur), Kishwar Chowdhury (Australian Masterchef finalist), Nadiya Hussain (Winner of The Great British Bake Off in 2015), Aktar Islam (Is a multiple award-winning Michelin starred chef & winner of Gordon Ramsey F-Word) and many more in the UK & internationally are all flying the flag for authentic & modern Bengali cuisine, these guys are an inspiration for the younger generation of Bengalis both here and around the world to get into the culinary field. Most people in the UK, Europe, USA, Australia have come to realise in the past 10 years that 95% of those Indian restaurants & take-aways they have been eating in are actually owned and cooked by Bengalis from the Syhlet region of Bangladesh. Our curry industry has given jobs to many people and given the exchequer of the government near £4 billion pounds in tax revenue as mentioned and recognise by British politicians like David Cameron and other big business entrepreneurs, they have said this in the British Curry Awards which the founder is Enam Ali (British Bangladeshi origin) so the people of the UK now realises it's Bengalis that run the majority of indian & Bangladeshi restaurants. The natives of the country really appreciate the efforts of our people and enjoy the the cuisine, hence why curry is one of the most popular cuisine in Britain.
That’s great to know about the influence Bengali cuisine has had on the U.K.. I throughly enjoyed the food in Bangladesh.. in fact currently editing footage of a delicious lunch I had in Tangail.. a chicken curry.. so good!
Are you sure that all the foods comes from sylhet region? 🤣 haha ha. Bengali foods are great. There are lots of variety from the different parts of Bangladesh.
Majority of the Indian cuisine in the uk is actually Bangladeshi, the reason it got known as Indian is coz uk people didn’t really know what the difference between an Indian and a Bengali is.

I've been to Cox's Bazar about 15 times so far. And this is the best restaurant in Cox's Bazar as far my experience. Specially as we eat a little bit spicy food. 6:28 That family was probably going to Saint martin Island. According to me its a Heaven. THE Most beautiful Place in Bangladesh. And, It was great to see you using your hand to eat.
Thank you! And I am also very happy I got the chance to go to such a rated restaurant! And guess what! I went to st Martin island! I shall be bringing videos here about it soon!
it's my Coxsbazar, i born there and i used to go there for lunch so many times, Thanks Carrie , your video make me Emotional , I am missing my hometown 🥺
Oh my God, that looks deeeeeelish !!! It made me craving some traditional Bangladeshi food right now! Haha!Too bad that I don't live in NYC anymore, where I could've gone to one of the traditional authentic Bangladeshi restaurants on Hillside Avenue, Jamaica, Queens, and get most of the items that you had there in Cox's Bazaar - except for that blackened Beef dish which is a specialty dish from Chittagong area. Pomfret fish is very popular also in the USA and available even here in the west coast, Seattle area, besides the east coast. I'm glad that you got to experience the food, especially that beef dish, it is something that even I never had, or heard of until a month or so ago, despite visiting Chittagong many times! Thanks for sharing and posting. Really enjoyable vlog !
Wow that’s cool I managed to show you something new.. I didn’t know pomfret was in the states.. that’s great! The food was so good there and so so fresh!
