Historically, Innova was the first company to change flight numbers between plastics. The champ boss and the star boss had different flight numbers (13, 5, 0, 3/13, 5, -1, 3) back in like 2013/2014 was when I first noticed it.
It has a 2.1 cm rim making it an 11 speed disc. Interestingly though it's like the opposite of the "3 series" discs. When Innova flattens the top they increase the speed by 1 and reduce the glide by 1. I've heard that the Gorgon has a bit of a dome so maybe they did the opposite and reduced the speed by 1 and increased the glide by 1. Looks like it's right between the Mystere and the Mamba, both of which I bomb.
There are more factors determining speed than width of the rim. Discs of any particular speed level have never shared the same wing width across the board. Profile, nose - anything that affects the drag coefficient also effects the speed a disc achieves for any given power level. So, no, it's width does NOT make it an 11 speed disc. Innova makes it a 10 speed, because they've done the testing.
Interesting I suppose, I throw a Valkyrie as my flippy driver. Seems like this is a very similar disc, more dome and rim width to add flip and distance.
I know you threw pro beasts from a old video but the star gorgon seems to fly like my gstar beast maybe a tick less stable with similar fade though. I might get a gorgon to fit between my tumbleweed and champion beast once I get back to 10 speeds.
Have you thrown it next to the Discmania TD? Curious your thoughts on both. Maybe wait for the new MVP Trail and you can do a comparison with all three?
Nice review. What weights are the discs? I got a 170g on the way! excited to test it out. I am a huge fan of the Beast mold so interesting to see how they compare.
Invictus has also 10, 4, 0, 3 for Star/Champ and 10, 5, -1, 2 for GStar. Doubt Star and Champ are equally beefy but here we go. Comparison between Gorgon, Invictus, Beast, Avenger, Sapphire, F Model US,, whatever, needed.
@brannnnnnn That beast is out of production. The original mold beast(x, whatever you want to call it) that's back in production has the same stability as the orc with a fraction of the axial tilt, so it is less likely to turn and burn, and fades with more glide instead of dumping. Been throwing them both in a variety of weights and plastics since 2005.
Calling out disc weight and rough distance thrown would be nice. Looked like a crush, but saying it went really far for me with no context, could mean anything from 250' to 500'.
@@Joeaxtell would you say there is a reason to bag both crave and centurion? I have a really beat in crave I like for late hyzer flips but maybe a disc that is like that out of the box.
@@julianseyal probably not, I live up at 4500’ so my discs fly a little different. I can get the same flights from both discs pretty easily and consistently I sometimes just have overlap in my bag for practicing repeat shots.

I personally love these numbers. Have you thrown the sapphire in gold orbit plastic? It has good stability and goes FAR. Great control it’s what people want the TD to be.
It is about time that Innova adjusted their flight ratings. I did a video on the Valkyrie, DX vs Halo. They have completely different flights BUT, the same numbers... I do have a Pro and Champion, Tern and they did adjust the flight ratings between the two which was nice to see.
Innova did the two different flight numbers in the past with the Daedalus, Champ, Star, and Proto-G. Side note dude you look like you lost 25lbs! What's your secret?
I love your reviews but watch how much you’re throwing off of the ball golf green. You’ll leave tons of bumps and bumps where you’re pivoting on your throw. Maybe just throw from the fringe in front of the green?
Same flight numbers as the Sidewinder. Except it's a "10 speed". Not buying it. I have a stable champion, max weight, Sidewinder that serves a purpose in that slot, in my bag.......😊
Or do what Scott Stokely is doing with his disc brand and don’t give the disc flight numbers. Let the community decide the numbers through a poll or vote of some kind. Wouldn’t be perfect but would probably be a lot more accurate.
Every time a content creator says a disc is going in the bag. I wish they would say what's coming out, what it's replacing❤
NEVER REPLACE, JUST GET BIGGER BAG
never replace, just get bigger bag lol
MVP is on top of the game when it comes to changing flight numbers between plastics. Great to see innova following suit’
Ya I throw mostly mvp/axiom I was going to say they’re great at this

Just picked up a first run in star plastic. It’s in the bag after the first throw. amazing disc

The Gstar flight numbers go the opposite way in ice cold weather. And even flipper in the hot summer.

Check out the Viking Discs Ragnarok in storm plastic, it's actually rated 11 5 -2 1 for their 'advanced' users.
A solid driver

Bought one today at the Flight Factory in Pensacola.

Are you using a ball golf green as a tee😮
Some courses have a disc golf course that literally cuts across golf courses and you can even use a golf cart
What are the weights of these discs?
So what is the difference with this versus the Innova Beast?
Rim Width is 2.1, same as an Innova Wraith width. Beast has 2.0 rim width with what looks like the same wing.
Just got one and it reminds me of my centurion from infinite but more distance
Man I’m starting to feel the centurion hype. It’s different than a crave right?
Also isn’t the centurion a mix of two innova molds? I forget which.
@@julianseyal yeah it’s a leopard bottom with the fd top. It’s very comparable to a crave for me, but the crave holds up better on forehand.

looks like a faster roadrunner. I dont have the arm for anything over speed 9 but this looks like a solid release.
