I love Felipe's style of jiu jitsu. Nothing is forced everything flows he takes what the defense gives him basically and capitalizes. He's one of my favorites of all time
My one critique was he didn't quite secure that figure four lock at the end before initiating the back take. Fortunately he was able to turn it into an armbar.
I kind of think it's fair. You should be able to use the transition to regain guard, so if you can't, they should score (again). It does take some level of skill to avoid getting back into guard while going back and forth.
Pena was a beast at this adcc really enjoyed watching him dominate. He was sharp and displayd some excellent technique. This was a exciting match the giotine slam was fun to see. Those reversals by Pena were slick.
New wave emphasize a lot of stand up in their training, so I'm sure he was feeling confident. Hard to match 20 years of training on the feet and I think meregali may have underestimated how game pixley was going to be considering he's only purple belt I believe. Unfortunate for meregali but great performance from pixley nonetheless looking forward to seeing his ground game match the level of his wrestling.
Talvez seria melhor liberar soco na cara para defender uma finalização encaixada. Provavelmente causaria lesão menos grave do que um bate estaca desse. É golpe para americano ver, fãs do WWE.
Great sub! Looking at details here. Was Pena grabbing is left wrist with his right hand when he went to his back on the sub? Can someone help me out on the detail of his right hand? I think it was crucial in keeping the postion. Thanks!
How ? Really no one did anything of significance. Gordon should have not competed. He couldn't even train properly to peak to be at 100%. You could tell he wasn't in shape and his timing was off everything wasn't on point. Pena was a beast at this adcc looked sharp.
@@Branden-vl9sl Yeah, Gordon was in horrible shape while Pena was in top form, and Gordon still squeezed out the victory. People keep shitting on Gordon, and it makes no sense.
In all fairness, Pena is a tough matchup for Gordon, but Gordon was in horrible shape this time. He was sick and barely able to get any mat time, yet still eeked out the win.
Why don't "wrestlers" try to engage more and settle in to pass on the knees. It's like a lot of people rely on athleticism/cartwheels and try to pass like Andy Varela. Seems like such a big waste of energy when you can at least try to knee cut.
Stop writing that. It isn't a fight. There are always a few knuckleheads who can't help themselves. If it was a fight, basketball would look different, too.
I know he’s great on the feet but I honestly found this match super boring! His only strategy was to try to jump over Pena’s guard, he didn’t seem to have any real idea how to pass!
God I HATE the butt scooting. Bjj is definitely grappling but definitely not "wrestling". As in takedown or even pin. Although a lot of bjj grapplers are doing good in either freestyle wrestling or better yet catch wrestling.
It's the rule set. Felipe would be dumb to stand with a wrestler so he can score points. Make them stand up after any stalling penalty and make the whole match scored with points. Maybe someday we will figure out the best ruleset.
The era before the boot scooting was worse. There were few if any scrambles from the top and they were locked to each other's upper body for the whole match. I would rather watch butt scooting than a shitty Greco roman match.
@@frankygreen1572 Oh, not just keyboarding it, Douchey McDouche. I've been practicing jiu-jitsu and mma for 2 decades. You are a dweeb thinking you're even on a level to tell these guys what they need to do. Just pass Pena's guard. Sure thing.

I wonder why ADCC is posting all this content so quick this year
CJI lmao
Cji might have an influence but the whole year theyve been posting matches the night after they happen from wno, trials, and ibjjf majors
It took them months for them to release Jones/Meregali
ADCC and the way they do thing is a joke at this point
😂
After watching CJI the idea of someone coming off mount for one second just to go back to mount in order to rack up points seems soo dumb.

Brandon is a purple belt with 3.5 years of experience. National champion wrestler.
Wow
NAIA wrestling my guy
adcc is a grappling tournament tbf. not bjj

I'm high af but this this is truly amazing jiu-jitsu to watch, Felipe is amazingly good - makes it look so effortless

That's what Meregali should have done. Play guard against wrestler.

Pena really evolved since the last ADCC.
The guy in the red is super spazzy!
well he knows hes not gonna beat pena by being more technical, so tryna make it more scrappy and scrambly was probably a better strategy...
He’s only been doing Jiujitsu for 3 1/2 half years
@@ramseylawrence4285 what does that have to do with being a spazz
@@zakstephenson4545 I think that’s just how he rolls, like a spazz. I don’t think he would roll more technical if it wasn’t pena

upload gordon ryan vs pean superfight ADCC 2024 😉
Nice
A real ass climbing)))
Why is mount only 2 points ?
They wouldn't have to stop the action and restart it in the middle if they had walls like CJI does.
So what. It isn't the same. That idea came from recent karate competitions. The judging at cji wasn't a great idea either.
