people have lots of information from years of experience that someone else may not have... so preventing someone from doing research has the exact opposite effect and keeps the powerful more powerful.
You can do all the research you want. You just can't be given information directly from someone else. It's a good rule and needs to be implemented on down the chain. It's gotten so bad that high school teams are hiring guides here to have a good tourney.
@@jamesw5836 your comment doesn't make sense. Because when you do research i.e. google info or anything online the information is coming directly from someone else. There is no difference from talking to someone and getting info off a website from someone else. I think that getting or receiving info from outside sources evens the playing field especially when you have pros live on the lake your fishing and they know everything about that lake where you don't, how fair is that. Also, it doesn't matter how well you know a lake, it matters how good of a fisherman you are. You can receive all the data in the world about a fishery but if you don't know how to fish, it won't matter. Agree with B on this.
David is right. People at the top will ALWAYS try to manipulate the system in their favor. But James is also right. Researching things online is a lot different than hiring guys to fish a lake for a few days before you get there and then handing you GPS locations and the sizes of fish at that locations giving you exact knowledge. But this rule is also about optics, exactly like the random lie detector tests. In modern competitions in a world as full of technology you have to find ways to give people confidence that tournaments with this much money on the line are fair and legit. This rule is perfect for accomplishing this while also helping the big, recognizable personalities have a better shot at finishing near the top. It might only give an illusion of fairness but what sport, or really any endeavor, isn't skewed in favor of the veterans?
My favorite Pro on the circuit. I get bummed out when I'm catchin nothing but dinks and I'm just fishing for fun. I couldn't take the pressure of a tournament. Thanks for all the great videos B.
Brian, I honestly really like your straight thoughts on pretty much everything. Your frustration at practice and the real of what's happening in your boat, is relatable. Love your content brother, thank you for taking the time to post. Tight Lines!
It doesn't level the field. Cheaters are going to cheat. Popular bodies of water have tons of public info on the net. And I love the attitude you have toward beating people who rely solely on intel.
I agree with you. I have fish tournaments for nearly 30 years and information from friends or other folks have never made an impact on how I’ve finished in a tournament.
Hey B, you already know how to catch fish. You got this. I think in this situation it just comes down to how well you can manage that mental game. Don’t let the pressure of this tournament overtake and overshadow your talent, skill and hard work. Also, as a New Yorker I can say this…New York loves you!
Also, I agree with you about the no-information clause. I do not think it levels the playing field…but I also understand why it’s there. I could see how some people could try to manipulate the rules in new and sophisticated ways. (Drones, apps, other electronic or verbal means of information sharing, etc.)
Bro I am so sorry that in this day and age we still have to deal with some people lack of love for others who are willing to share valuable knowledge with fellow anglers. I am proud of you so keep posting and I am wishing nothing but great success to you and your family.
I guess it all depends on luck. Probably 90% of the time when someone tells me where to fish and-what to use I don’t catch shit. I take it as a suggestion. It’s usually the last thing I try.
The only time that I have seen "information rules" be effective and necessary... was a tourney that saw a team of 4 guys who all split up across the lake and then were texting back and forth about locations of fish. If one found a fishable area, they would all high tail it there and fish it out. Split up again..... you get the picture....... other than that- I agree you still gotta catch'em!
BLat...I agree with your perspective here. My thoughts are that if someone wants to use "public" information then why not. You can have all the info you can gather but that does not necessarily mean you're going to catch fish on a given day. And, if someone is going to "cheat" then they will do so. Rules are rules only if they are followed. Keep up the EXCELLENT videos. Hope to run into you down here on Hartwell or Greenwood!
Just came off the Ottawa River for a team Ontario qualifier, and 9 out of the 20 selected are from the area. It takes a lifetime of fishing these large small mouth bodies of water to really have them figured out. I have never fished so much dead water in my life. Unreal time on that river, and I learned a TON - but hot damn, it was a grind.
I read between the lines...I don't know how someone couldn't like you B!?!? I don't care if you were green, your a good hearted down to earth dude! And a Carolina boy at that! 😃 I keep thinking I'm gonna run into you, out on the lake, someday.
I think it needs to be implemented on down the chain. We have a couple of big high school tournaments on Pickwick every year and they are now booking every guide in the area to take them out the days before a tournament. The tournaments are in the summer so it's a big help to those teams that can afford it.
One thing in mind you can have all the information and technologies like live scope or what ever at the end of the day no matter the info or baits told to use, you still have to make the fish bite to catch the fish.
Brian, do they really watch you more than others? That crap sucks if it happens more. Rules are rules for all. Keep up on the great videos. I love them. Hopefully get to meet you some day. Jim from Wisconsin
BLat asks "what would you do?" Only thing I would do is go to Brian Latimers RUclips channel and let his videos tell me what to do! Also, Brian, have you ever thought about narrating nature shows or reading books for audible? Haha, I'd listen.
100% agree with you, while at the same time I get why it's done. Like every rule, their are always pros and cons. This one definitely has pros, while at the same time I think it'd help everyone even more across the board to just get rid of it mostly for the reasons you state. I see it the exact same way you do. But honestly i'm very usually in the minority with many of my opinions so i'm used to people thinking i'm wrong hahaha. Thanks for the vids, I always look forward to them.
What to fish and where to fish changes by the hour. Too many factors at play to say that this guy told me to fish here with this setup won me a tournament. It doesn't work that way 9 times out of 10. Fish move, conditions change, and bait moves. Don't think the rule is necessary at all. But I like figuring things out for myself anyway. Gives me more confidence.
Being from The St Lawrence, just go fish what you know man! I mean for you to come up and catch as many fish as you did you know something, all it is is finding the bigger school.
I’ve fished there plenty, 13lbs of Large Mouth is really easy to catch. If you’re vacationing there and struggling to catch SM or if it’s windy fish LM!
I would like to see a tournament where every angler can only use 2D sonar, say 7 rod limit, no practice days, and every angler get the exact same tackle kit. No other baits can be used other then what is provided the day of the tournament. Everyone gets the tackle kit the night before the start.
I have watched your videos Blat, I have watched Scott Martin videos and the one thing that they definitely both have in common is the honesty with which both of y'all do your profession. Now with that being said I have seen in both your videos that you can be on fish one day and they just completely disappear the next day, that tells me it doesn't matter if y'all Practice 6 months before a tournament it can change in an instant. Just my two cents for what it's worth, keep up the good work brother and I wish you the best
Definitely interested in hearing more about tournament rules every once in a while. Every once in a while, I even learn about rules/laws for different states or bodies of water that I’d never heard of before. It’s good to hear the unique stuff, just for awareness.
Albert Einstein once wrote, "Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience. You need experience to gain wisdom." So yeah...a few spots and some information may get you a check a time or two...but not in the long haul.
Love your videos brother!! I received a road runner underspin jig in my Bass mystery tackle box. I have never thrown one just swim jigs. Do they have any advantages? It’s such a weird design head lol
More times than not any information I've received has not worked out. I feel that the fishing changes from day to day, so whatever was working yesterday more than likely is not going to work today. And that it's easier to figure out your own pattern than to stress yourself out about why someone else's pattern isn't working out for you.
Dude I know you and the way you feel about doing the things right on your channel but the haters need to really look at themselves more that hate… that’s why things are in today’s society. How about chill and enjoy and we can all do some of that. Love what you do B lat !
I agree I think information rules are pointless. It’s gotta be tough. I talk to my buddies about all things fishing. I’m pretty sure BASS can talk among anglers. I think at the least you should be able to do that.
I like when you and you are Record me because that that is like behind the sings with you So keep recording them tournaments because they don't come on TV Good luck.
I would go back to what you done day 1 with the boulders and get all i could and pray for sunshine!!! As for info that's like hole sitting for a buddy that happens down here in SC/NC but i agree if i can't win it on my own don't want it
When you pull line out your drag its all twisted... how you fish like that lol. Thats a combo of straight reelimg the spool onto your reel and reeling while they pulling drag
The only thing I can see that the rule might try to prevent is anglers having groups that aren't in the tournament fish a bunch of spots for them close to tourney time and report back where the good bites are. I believe that rule could be better if it was more specific and not just generalizing by not allowing any information at all. I personally hate having to much information, it just overwhelming. I can't figure out what to or where to go, I much rather go in with just a map and my own game plan and build from there.
Sounds like a good rule to me. My thought is, You have 2 days off practice then I go out to a different location and use your technics. That wouldn't be fair in my book. Now if everyone did that maybe, but that would take away some of the pressure of a pro tour. Some people don't have the home Lake advantage. Just my opinion🎣🎣🎣fish on and good luck
I agree with one of the other comments based on people shouldn't be able to tell others where the are if they are fishing on the lake at the same time. Other than that I wouldn't see a problem with anything else
Hey hey BLat! I've been following you for a little while now and have seen a lot of your videos. I was wondering if the rules differ any from circuit to circuit? I love these "behind the scene" videos. All of the hardwork and frustrations to put a plan together. You got this Cuz! #adversityisdope
I agree with you. I have fish tournaments for nearly 30 years and information from friends or other folks have never made an impact on how I’ve finished in a tournament.
B - These videos are therapy. Keep going. It will all work out. We are here for you.
When on the St Lawrence the key spot is in the water. My success goes way down when I'm in a tree or on someone's dock.
This makes sense. I'm gonna try to fish trees less and water more.
Hey B, you already know how to catch fish. You got this. I think in this situation it just comes down to how well you can manage that mental game. Don’t let the pressure of this tournament overtake and overshadow your talent, skill and hard work.

It's still fishing, there's no substitution for SKILL and a little Luck... Thank you for sharing
Bro I am so sorry that in this day and age we still have to deal with some people lack of love for others who are willing to share valuable knowledge with fellow anglers. I am proud of you so keep posting and I am wishing nothing but great success to you and your family.
I agree bro. Info is just that. Technique and presentation is what makes a difference

We definitely do hear you brother ✊🏾
Definitely hear you. Keep getting it done. Love the videos.
If it your first time on a lake, and you can't get information from someone who lives on that lake, does not "level the playfield."
Your take is spot on dude

"especially me". Man I hate hearing shit like that. Forget those ignorant pieces of shit. You are such a good dude.
You are my favorite pro fisherman. You tell it like it is and back it with facts.
That lil fish at the 22 minute mark had the heart of a champion lol
Just came off the Ottawa River for a team Ontario qualifier, and 9 out of the 20 selected are from the area. I read between the lines...I don't know how someone couldn't like you B!?!? I don't care if you were green, your a good hearted down to earth dude! And a Carolina boy at that! 😃
I keep thinking I'm gonna run into you, out on the lake, someday.
Keep looking for the rock piles and you will do fine. Good luck!
Lmbo!!! Keep that Life jacket on Brian especially when your on the water in a rain storm by yourself practicing. Lol!!! Stay Safe.
I think it needs to be implemented on down the chain. taking us along with you on your tournaments.
Only deep finders and GPS ! 😉👍 Thats excitement and even playing field
“You feel that dooh dooh, and then it’s like ewww”😂😂
One thing in mind you can have all the information and technologies like live scope or what ever at the end of the day no matter the info or baits told to use, you still have to make the fish bite to catch the fish.
Love your videos man! That little small mouth fought hard as hell and I was so excited lol!
Brian, do they really watch you more than others?
That crap sucks if it happens more. Rules are rules for all.
Keep up on the great videos. I love them. Hopefully get to meet you some day.

I agree! Hard work, and doing the right effort always about weighs just about anything. Talent helps but talent can be out worked very often!
BLat asks "what would you do?" Only thing I would do is go to Brian Latimers RUclips channel and let his videos tell me what to do! Also, Brian, have you ever thought about narrating nature shows or reading books for audible? Haha, I'd listen.

You should throw dynamite when you come to fish Tennessee. Lol. Tell the director I gave you expert advice.
What to fish and where to fish changes by the hour. Too many factors at play to say that this guy told me to fish here with this setup won me a tournament. It doesn't work that way 9 times out of 10. Well I've learned something new. Never knew you guys could have to take polygraphs! Wow. Great video man.
Great video! Lots of info! Didn’t get what u were referring to when talking about the life jacket issue. W
Wish you the best!
Think about it for a while and you'll probably figure it out.
DAAAAAAMMNNN GINA!!
Get you a high back seat like Bill Dance. I can see it now Brother Dance
Being from The St Lawrence, just go fish what you know man! I mean for you to come up and catch as many fish as you did you know something, all it is is finding the bigger school.
HEY B! Which brand of glasses you wearing? They are pretty nice, I like to get a pair. Thanks for all you do bro! God Bless
I’ve fished there plenty, 13lbs of Large Mouth is really easy to catch. If you’re vacationing there and struggling to catch SM or if it’s windy fish LM!
Love your take on the polygraph purpose. Cheering for you.

Totally agree on the waypoints situation.

Even the largemouth bass up there are fatty patties. My goodness the width of those bass is incredible.
ESPECIALLY ME!!!!! Lol!
Brian in Summerville,SC
Definitely interested in hearing more about tournament rules every once in a while. Every once in a while, I even learn about rules/laws for different states or bodies of water that I’d never heard of before. It’s good to hear the unique stuff, just for awareness.
I agree. Info isnt going to help. You just need to figure out the pattern wherever you are its not always the same day to day.
Keep the great content coming B we love it you have taught me a lot
Have you ever fished lake greenwood SC if so what was your biggest catch
When they got stricter on the no info rule and added the random poly, it definitely changed what the names in the top 10 looked like consistently.
Nothing changed...
Albert Einstein once wrote, "Information is not knowledge. The only source of knowledge is experience. You need experience to gain wisdom."
So yeah...a few spots and some information may get you a check a time or two...but not in the long haul.
Thank you for the videos. You're the man...and the pro I learn the most from.
They fragile but that fry up well ….. lol 😂
Jack them jaws B ! 🔥 👊🔥
Good luck brother you're one of the good guys I feel like we would be great friends and fishing partners love the channel
Like what your sayin Brian, just enjoy fishing and do what we do!
Love your videos brother!! I received a road runner underspin jig in my Bass mystery tackle box. I have never thrown one just swim jigs. Do they have any advantages? It’s such a weird design head lol
I usually ask ppl not to share info cause it usually just messes me up anyway.
They body looking like hey Mrs. Parker lol
Agree with you 100%, dock talk does nothing but throw you off your game. Do you.
More times than not any information I've received has not worked out. I feel that the fishing changes from day to day, so whatever was working yesterday more than likely is not going to work today. And that it's easier to figure out your own pattern than to stress yourself out about why someone else's pattern isn't working out for you.
Just fish and let the skill come out. Good video Brian
What about driving your truck around the lake and looking at water color and temperature before the practice?
What I would do is tap into my youth when I was hungry and do some junk fishing . I've caught some of my biggest fish off of using just my instinct !
I like when you and you are Record me because that that is like behind the sings with you So keep recording them tournaments because they don't come on TV Good luck.
Roland Martin and those guys made a living getting info from locals.
Exactly! It still goes on. When you got 8 guys prefishing for ya. Thats not level playing field.
I would go back to what you done day 1 with the boulders and get all i could and pray for sunshine!!! As for info that's like hole sitting for a buddy that happens down here in SC/NC but i agree if i can't win it on my own don't want it
Turn that live scope on ! An play pick a fish lol 😆 😂 🤣
Been waiting for this! Let's go BLat!!
Gonna be a tough one for sure.
B Latimer was arrested for impersonation of a bass fisherman.
Wondering what camera you are using for flogging (said you didn’t have it out in the rain) great video as always 👍🏻
Always an awesome video if BLat is fishing
When you pull line out your drag its all twisted... how you fish like that lol. Thats a combo of straight reelimg the spool onto your reel and reeling while they pulling drag
A lot of people give info …doesn’t mean it is going to work that day..it’s a crap shoot fish mood changes everyday lol
The only thing I can see that the rule might try to prevent is anglers having groups that aren't in the tournament fish a bunch of spots for them close to tourney time and report back where the good bites are. Asking the locals is part of that research. You wouldn't blindly walk into an unknown restaurant in a town you've never been in if you want to experience the best food in that town.
Is there a reason that you use the Neds over the Trick Shotz?
How is the trolling motor is that the motor guide how is the spot lock and durability? Thanks for the video be Blessed
I usually don’t want information. Getting information from someone that prepares or fishes differently than I do would probably cause more harm than good. Dumb rule though.
Every time

I personally hate having to much information, it just overwhelming. I can't figure out what to or where to go, I much rather go in with just a map and my own game plan and build from there.
Sounds like a good rule to me. My thought is, You have 2 days off practice then I go out to a different location and use your technics. That wouldn't be fair in my book. Now if everyone did that maybe, but that would take away some of the pressure of a pro tour. Some people don't have the home Lake advantage. Just my opinion🎣🎣🎣fish on and good luck
Randomly selected! Is what your trying to say ?Jury duty you are selected randomly by your drivers license!
You need go to Small mouth DisneyLand in boat!! Good luck BLat!!
I have been out of the game for about 30 years since I was 15 and now I'm 45 and getting back into it.
Back when I was younger, I would rather be out catching fish than watching it on TV. I know I have missed a lot since then and it seems like everything has changed. You're a good one B! Keep those lines tight!
Ok Brian where's you fish basket full of 4 lbers hid?😁
Who knows when that B-Lat sick stick will be available?!?!
I honestly do not think gathering information from other anglers levels the playing field because honestly with all the electronics that professional anglers have makes no difference in my opinion. You as an anglers can get the same information from what others get.
Tight lines man 🎣👍 God bless
I would have fished for two whole days and only caught like two fish lol
