Komi is put on a pedestal and Katai is negatively judged, when in reality they’re just normal people struggling with communication. The fact that the way they look greatly affects how people act around them doesn’t help most of the times either. Often times, people stay away from Katai while giving Komi unwanted attention. But on the brighter side, they’re both helped by Tadano (and experiences typical cliche romantic moments with him 😂) and I think that’s very wholesome and cute. Tadano truly deserves more appreciation from his classmates, he is very kind and understanding.
