I M.F RUN HARD .WOULD YOU BE KEEN TO GET IN CONTACT OUTSIDE OF YOTUBE TO TALK? ~~ THANKS JOSHIE
Same man. I bought the game for christmas 2005 and 8GB hard drive to install it. I had a fucking Pentium II 266MHz. I was 13. I had no internet so I played with 1.07 or 1.09 I dont remember. Picked Pala went for Fanatism and Zeal. I died so many times in Hell Act 3. I remember my gear. Aldur weapon. Dark Adherent armor, Whitstan's Guard shield, tal mask and belt, sigon gloves and boots. I don't remember the rings and the amu. I believe they were life/mana leech rings. I used Sureshrill Frost in Nightmare Act IV the Frozen Orb was very good. Oh the memories.
zealot was my first as well and I was absolute trash back then. abandoned him to make a sorce and then went back and rerolled him into a hammerdin. I think I will roll zealot in d2r and bring back my og char and finally complete him
Same, the game had just released and me as a 12 year old kid thought 2handed sword zeal + thorns would be a sick combo... made it to act 3 before I figured out I had messed up. re-rolled to a cold sorceress.
Oof that actually SUCKED. One moment you heard Iron Maiden being casted, and you couldn't even react because death was virtually instantaneous when you were hitting. Chaos Sanctuary then was too terrifying for my Barb to even step in!
@@acgm046 Yeah, you pretty much had to just hope that rng was good to you and didn't hit you with iron maiden. Seems like every time they would cast it would be mid attack and at that point it was too late, there wasn't anything you could do and you'd one shot yourself.
My favorite D2 class of all time. It's just so satisfying when you hear the lightning fast zeals pop off and you have enough AR for all of them to connect.
My favorite melee character is the Passion+Double Dream Sorc, 6.000- 60.000 damage+ infinity boost, unkillable with max mana/dual leech set up. The aura AOE actually adds up pretty well against trash mobs
I have played this game for thousands of hours over the years and never actually stuck with a Zeal pally. Always been a werewolf guy. Almost tempted to go with zeal when D2 Resurrected comes out.
Definitely the strongest melee build, I highly approve of Death over Grief too. Holy Shock version however (not Dream, but selfcast) is superior to Fanaticism though imo. More damage (lvl 40-44 HS with Griffon's and 5 facets in perfect setup with infinity merc), good fcr even on main hand if that's your thing (Griffon's is BIS already) and Enigma being pretty obvious choice (fort or 4 facet/100 life are alternatives I guess). Stormlash as cool alternative weapon makes it potentially the best AOE clearing melee too (but you lose 1 frame compared to Grief/Crescent moon).
I suggest blessed getting ur extra points intsead of defiance... solely bc defense doesnt matter as much in vanilla d2 and the blessed aim gives u passive AR for each hard point in it
I still make a zeal pally just about every year in d2. Last year I made a hc zeal pally and got it to 87 doing Baal runs. People were calling me nuts lol but its the most enjoyable build for me.

I did my first Pally play through today with a Zealer. Had a Gnasher on off hand for act bosses but after doing Hell Forge forgot to re-equip it. Killed Norm Diablo with a lvl 24 Zealer with no weapon equipped, punched him to death no problem with LvL 1 Light Res aura on just straight face tanking him. Zeal is busted
12:19 I like how you complain about taken damage when the first enemy is a ligh enchant, conviction aura burning soul group.:-))) Normally this is instant death.
if you cant find the runes to make the words you can always use a lightsaber of the azurewraith. both of those do magic damage that will negate any kind of physical immune ( i believe it does anyways ) or stone skin.
It takes some normal farming but, Sigon's set is a personal favorite of mine. A +1 shield, 10% life steal, good armor that will get you through half or most of nightmare difficulty, AND YOU GET YOUR CHOICE OF BEATING STICK!!!!
I think it was pretty good. Maybe you should have mentioned Chains of Honor or Duress. Really solid bodyarmors for a zealer. Both yeah Enigma makes running bosses faster, both a tele stave could also be used.
Imo 5 frame maul werebear with Tomb Reaver is the best in the game. In resurrected the large stash means bears can hold a stack of summoner gcs, switch to +grizz skills gear with summon grizz bear, summon a lvl 45+ bear and switch back to their maul set up and have a 18k-20k maul with a bear that does 10-15k damage on bosses with decrep procs from merc. Trust me Dbrun, you gotta test this out. Edit in a werebear with 3soc eth tomb 2shaels/1zod and get 70 off weapon ias for the 5 frame maul and strength stack.
Not a bad build. I personally just run the zealot smiter combo, so I run things quite differently but it's effective none the less. I tend to swap between last wish for zeal, grief for smite, coh for armor, shako for helm, maras ammy, 45 all res eth exile, cta/spirit ofc, dungos, 2x bul kathos rings, gore riders, dracs, Anni/torch and pcombat charms and all res/lifers, for running Ubers. I played that build for like 3 years. It was fun. It slapped.
My Hellproof Zealot has the following gear: Guillaume's Face. Highlord's Wrath Amulet. HoZ Shield. COA Superior Archon Plate. Thundergod's Belt. Souldrainer Gloves. Oath Ethereal Cryptic Sword. Gore Riders war boots. Merc is Sct 2 Nightmare with Might Aura, Doom Ethereal Cryptic Axe, Gladiator''s Bane and Vampires Gaze Helm. Died only four times in Hell, each time during Baal runs.
fortitude + phoenix + last wish + gface wish 15/40 jool + laying of hands + highlord + gore rider + verdungo + 2x raven , I think that's the best setup. 2,5 Life, 15K def, around 50 all ress (max if you proc fade from last wish), 7K dmg (in the table, more in real game), constant life rap + redemption. anything could be better?
I always loved Zeal. Something with many quick and powefull attacks. I made also Tesladin (using your videos as guide). I must say - i prefer Tesladin, it is easier for me to kill immunes, but he is lacking in defence (all in synergy), not big deal. Recently i made Phoenix, i always loved that runeword, but right now, i prefer Zakarum Shield, damage is not bigger with rw, i dont know why. As i see, you have very bad life leach, for me it is problem and i use string of ears, ring +10 to ll, and Andy (i dont have coa). Thanks for video.
Tip for the next melee video: make a wolfbarb, that charges Frenzy before turning wolf! The AS bonus you get from frenzy gets added to your weapon attack speed weirdly, so you can get very good attackspeed with weird weapons. Like 6 FPA eBOTD Thunder maul in wolf form is a thing.
How does this build stack up today? I have a hammerdin but I really don't enjoy blessed hammers. I've been looking at going either zeal of FOH PALADIN.
My question is, what do you do with such a character? MFing isn't really a great idea and you can't even loot stuff due to inv space. Is it just for fun to see what you can push a certain build's damage to? I mean it's fine having such a killer machine but there isn't really a use for it, is it?
Like this build but never did one. Always forced myself to get my vengeance pld better instead of trying this guy. Now I have to try it out lol. Good job as usual
I like how you named him Cratos. :D This build (my Grief, gFace, Fort, Verdungo and insane crafted blood gloves) is The Doom Slayer. Stupid OP. Even with 1 hard point in Smite (+ Last Wish), he crushes ubers easily... everything else is dust even on /players8. Merc commands (like in Torchlight) should be a thing in D2R. The merc AI is really frustrating.
I have a question/comment, do you think Pride runeword on the merc is viable? I would think that would boost the damage of the paladin even more. I was wondering if you thought of this option and whether is it more or less effective than Reaper's Toll on the merc.
I love using last wish on my zealer. I almost didnt made it cause it is expensive as hell and i kept thinking that i had more runewords to make and it would be a waste, but i emded up doing to add crushing blow to my frenzy barb and now it is my favorite meele weap. And you can easily swap the gface for o other stuffs, i intend to use a coa sometime but since i never droped one i use a 69% kira with work very well with enigma since it have no ress
100%. I've been making Zealers for 10 years on and off and always go with Last Wish. I've tried Grief, eBotd, and Last Wish. Last Wish is better by far, even though it is expensive, it's well within reach during a ladder season and I was able to trade for the runes that I couldn't find each time.
I don't mind charging, a simple and quick swap of weapon will debug it fast enough to continue the fight with no issues at all. However I hope it gets fixed on D2R
Dbrunski, can't thank you enough for your contributions to the D2 lovers out there, and especially this build I've been very lucky to almost exactly replicate. Question, does each Zeal hit/strike do the indicated Damage, or is it the total 5 sequential hits? Thanks again
I just got to Hell and I’m struggling to kill some stuff like zombies and physical immunes. I have a point in Vengeance but it doesn’t hit enough to offset the mana drain
@@Dbrunski125 I see, if you want to maximize damage then it's understandable. Still it's a hard decision to make considering how much safer exile feels with life tap and huge defence boost
Curious to see this testing with smite vs defiance for the extra points and more vit. I have been using smite with my zealot as a boss take down and just a few points makes a dent with all the DS and OW on the gear.
Immer die tollen Videos mit dem Übergear, High Lvl und Inventar voll mit Skiller und Charms. Interessant wären ja mal Videos mit Char unter Lvl 90, ohne Charms und mit normalem Gear.
Hey Dbrunski125, Something unrelated to this particular video, i'll try to keep it short: Not too long ago i installed Plugy and now have a lvl90 mf sorceress. Did a bit of LK, mephi, tower, dia, baal, andy to find the basics, found the runes for infinity in the process, but never a good base. I dropped all of my mf and started doing cows on the highest players amount i could comfortably farm them. Never found anything worthy of putting those hard to find runes in, nothing better than a non ethereal CV. Do you have any suggestions on where to farm for a nice infinity base? I'd like to switch around a bit because despite cows being fun, they too become boring at some point, so much so that i've started my 2nd character: paladin for easy getting anni/torch.
I finished my Holy Shock zealer on the weekend (not dual dreamer) and my players8 chaos clearspeed is a tiny bit slower. +3 Holy Shock beast caddy with Griffon's and 4x faceted shield, Dracs/nigma/inifinity merc. I guess phys zealot is truly the melee king haha, maybe if I change Enigma to a 4x faceted armor I can match the damage, but then I lose my mobility.
Why not use Exile and Dracs? Zeal/Smiters are godly, probably the character build that is least likely to die out of all builds if you have Dracs and Exile for life tap
Hey Dbrunski, I just got a Tal Rasha's amulet drop from normal council in Travincal... is that normal??!?! I feel like this amulet (lvl requirement 67) is just INSANE to get from the council in normal difficulty. Playing in un-moded single player on a holy fire paladin, currently lvl 23. Sorry if you get this a lot, I just thought it was worth asking about.
Tesladin with Fanta and infinity merc(shareable with other classes) is my favorite melee build so far. I’ve tried to work with assassin but the attack rating is terrible.
A decked out frenzy barb dual grief pb is probably faster clears and faster run. A decked out fury wolf with a crazy eth tomb reaver is probably second best, and here the slow zealer takes the rear. :). imo. However: your dual dream tesladin is far better than all three. (But currently too expensive on D2R)
Zealot is great. The build would have been very powerful even without the 15/40 jewels which no one will probably find legitimately. My opinion is to not show unrealistic builds. If these items were hard for you to find after so much playing imagine what they will be for others. They are absolutely very rare, no one will have so many 15/40 jewels. I use shako for the skills and huge life bonus and damage reduction. Add a socket and you are good. Don't really need crown of ages, an overrated item in my opinion. You can also use chains of honor and still wreck. Damage reduction, more damage due to skills and +damage to demons and undead and huge resistances. Most people tend to ignore this armor for some reason
He mentions that budget and mid-tier builds are also viable and easy to make. The point of this is the ultimate build (that doesn’t rely on Gface or Grief)
Can someone tell me how he finds good loot on a char like this with not much MF. He said he uses this set up for baal runs, is it worth doing baal without stacking atleast a decent bit of MF?
really good build... but I think I'd rather go with a frenzy or DS barb... I think using Fanaticism lowers your defense? Barb can be as fast as this one without sacrificing its defense because of its passive battle mastery skills...
I wished they do a separate tab for charms, it kinda defeats the purpose of this as a looting game. Also, it kinda hard to pump up for MF gear if you are all out with your main gear... It's either you play for maximum output or you MF... kinda sucks really.
Next Melee Build Guide: Phoenix Strike Assassin That is actually the build that I brought to Level 96, the highest level I ever reached with a char in LoD.
@@s4121757 Yeah, such a build sounds like a perfect topic for him to talk about. I think I even used Jade Talon and Shadow Killer for that build, simply because I liked the themes and the fantasies of these weapons. Not the best weapons for that build, but on lower /playersX setting it still can work somewhat in Hell Difficulty.
I'm currently stuck on begining of act 2 hell with my zealer as I can't get the things I need to do more damage or not be as squishy so I can withstand killing slower until I find items.
If you check the videos on my playlist "Build and Progression Videos", I have played a zealer (Pius) self found through each level and made a summary video for each level. His hell level gear is at 12:58 on the Hell level video. Alternatively, look for MrLlamaSC's paladin zealot videos, who does it a lot quicker!
Was Iron Maiden Curse removed in CS? I recently found out, D2 is gonna be Resurrected and i will be back in Business. So i am wondering. There was a reason why melees didnt really farm CS.
patch 1.13, in I believe 2010, removed iron maiden from oblivion knights. As a zealot fan, this was my favorite change they've ever made to the game lol.
Midgame / hell difficulty without holy grail items or runes, I would say Azurewrath or Lawbringer on switch is strong to kill Physical Immunes trying hard to ruin your day, but you burst Elemental damage on them or on hit Decrepify them than laugh :)
for those who wondering whirldwind barb or zealot is better The answer will be zealot even the lack of AOE but you gain super block , defense and stay alive Also whirlwind is not easy as you think. You need to timely position the whirl
Then there is me, finding CoA with 2os in diablo2res, and having the servers crash on me. Days later when i had time to play the item logically wasnt in my inventory. Actually discord streamed it to a friend and he was even more excited than me about the item ( i had no clue LMAO ) and thus even more devastated when my server yeeted me out.

But is only 6 seconds right? Does it worth?
@@alonsogonzalez6700 no, it does not worth it. I would like some1 showcasing it non the less 😂
It can be used with ~300% MF and its effective. Check out DarkHumilty, his Zealer found him some of his rarest Grail items.
most important starts with merc gear
Without the cure for immune to physical. Doesnt matter if you have S tier gear
Can you show us the base Attributes (04:18) without any gear equipped?
Are you able to do uber diablo with this build and no extra points on vitality?
Like this build but never did one. Always forced myself to get my vengeance pld better instead of trying this guy. Now I have to try it out lol. Good job as usual
So what’s the rotation?….how to u start the battle
Is Zealer any good in PD2?
Is this build good for HC too? Does in need tweaking for hC? Thanks!
I like how you named him Cratos. :D
This build (my Grief, gFace, Fort, Verdungo and insane crafted blood gloves) is The Doom Slayer. Stupid OP. Even with 1 hard point in Smite (+ Last Wish), he crushes ubers easily... everything else is dust even on /players8.
Merc commands (like in Torchlight) should be a thing in D2R. The merc AI is really frustrating.
I've never played a zealot. What's ur opinion of chargeden as a pvp build?
Thanks again
life sux , can we just remove 100-150 from str to put into vit? will it be viable?
wow, like your background. Where did you get that?
Boss i have a question i play only hardcore how much HP its normal to have
How did you in baby jesus name get 12k dmg? im almost bis and got like 3k if even that. Grief, Phoenix, Pride on might merc, fortitude and so on
I just got to Hell and I’m struggling to kill some stuff like zombies and physical immunes. I have a point in Vengeance but it doesn’t hit enough to offset the mana drain
Make a Lawbringer or Voice of Reason or Rift and you can deal with them easier, VoR is the cheapest option
If I use GG 1os viso for Pally, what shield/weap/armor should I use?
This is great info, but this is end game gear. I'm on hell Difficulty and not having alot of drops. Would like to see videos of begin hell difficulty
howcome no vita?? what helps you life leech so much?
Interesting build, but what's the reason you are using HoZ over exile? Sorry if you mentioned that in the video and I missed it ;)
Life tap proc from exile over rides decrep from the merc
@@Dbrunski125 I see, if you want to maximize damage then it's understandable. Still it's a hard decision to make considering how much safer exile feels with life tap and huge defence boost
@@Tmortal it is great for survival
Can you do a video on how to run alot of aura on the paladin pls or whats the max aura can you run
why not explain the attribute points fully? "put enough in for this" well yes how much is that with max level gear?
Curious to see this testing with smite vs defiance for the extra points and more vit. I have been using smite with my zealot as a boss take down and just a few points makes a dent with all the DS and OW on the gear.
Immer die tollen Videos mit dem Übergear, High Lvl und Inventar voll mit Skiller und Charms. Interessant wären ja mal Videos mit Char unter Lvl 90, ohne Charms und mit normalem Gear.
What about Metalgrid amulet?
looks powerful, sure... but how do you pick up stuff? :D
yo DB what do you think is the best character/build to start ladder with BESIDES the sorc?
Hey Dbrunski125,
Something unrelated to this particular video, i'll try to keep it short:
Not too long ago i installed Plugy and now have a lvl90 mf sorceress.
What was Debruski streaming around that 1 min mark? I couldn't tell.
The Last Epoch
I always preferred Necro, having enigma on him was just god tier
Zealer is best? Not tesladin?
What items causes the fire procs?
Phoenix shield
Hey Dbrunski, I just got a Tal Rasha's amulet drop from normal council in Travincal... is that normal??!?! I feel like this amulet (lvl requirement 67) is just INSANE to get from the council in normal difficulty. Playing in un-moded single player on a holy fire paladin, currently lvl 23. Sorry if you get this a lot, I just thought it was worth asking about.
Zeal or smite for pvp/pvm?
Tesladin with Fanta and infinity merc(shareable with other classes) is my favorite melee build so far. I’ve tried to work with assassin but the attack rating is terrible.
Thanks for another great video, just started playing again last year and have found your videos helpful. I built a zealot need to tweak him a bit now.
15/25+ jewels are good enough. The 15IAS is the most important if you're trying to hit the 113 IAS breakpoint.
Is a no soc 13 ed eth mage plate on non ladder any valuable?
Are you serious? Wow.
Updated 2021 poison necro guide when? :D
Hey Dbrunski, Dan here. Are you focusing on physical damage based melee builds? I would love to see the Poison Dagger Necro brought to life!
trang poison nec doing cows for the moo moo lolz :D
Bowazons do not struggle with AoE though with multishot
Can someone tell me how he finds good loot on a char like this with not much MF. He said he uses this set up for baal runs, is it worth doing baal without stacking atleast a decent bit of MF?
what i got from this video was:
str is better than vit?
Last time I built a Zealer was back in the day and I used BOTD and I was fine. Ran Ubers with no problem.
really good build... but I think I'd rather go with a frenzy or DS barb... I think using Fanaticism lowers your defense? Barb can be as fast as this one without sacrificing its defense because of its passive battle mastery skills...
Zealer was my first ever build. It will always be a character I love for that reason alone. Wish it was viable PvP!
I wished they do a separate tab for charms, it kinda defeats the purpose of this as a looting game. Also, it kinda hard to pump up for MF gear if you are all out with your main gear... It's either you play for maximum output or you MF... kinda sucks really.
Next Melee Build Guide: Phoenix Strike Assassin
That is actually the build that I brought to Level 96, the highest level I ever reached with a char in LoD.
Would love to see DB do this. Most fun build I’ve ever played but never really made her work in hell.
I would like to see a video on how to get a zealer through the game self found. Seems a serious challenge as you're so dependent on a good weapon
This guy kills way faster than my Spearceress
Was Iron Maiden Curse removed in CS? I recently found out, D2 is gonna be Resurrected and i will be back in Business. So i am wondering.
There was a reason why melees didnt really farm CS.
patch 1.13, in I believe 2010, removed iron maiden from oblivion knights. As a zealot fan, this was my favorite change they've ever made to the game lol.
What's the best non runeword weapon for zealer?
Probably death cleaver or upped butchers pupil
@@starhunter2770 stormlash?
High roll Astreon's is insanely good non rune word, good luck finding one, especially high roll though XD.
Midgame / hell difficulty without holy grail items or runes, I would say Azurewrath or Lawbringer on switch is strong to kill Physical Immunes trying hard to ruin your day, but you burst Elemental damage on them or on hit Decrepify them than laugh :)
Personally, I would not run around with less than 3k life and ~15 LL. 1.3k life can get insta rip'd much easier.
You only need 2k for ubers. No one really needs more than 2k unless u pvp.
for those who wondering whirldwind barb or zealot is better
The answer will be zealot even the lack of AOE but you gain super block , defense and stay alive
Also whirlwind is not easy as you think. You need to timely position the whirl
Whirlwind isn't aoe
What about a holy fire pally?
Holy Fire is primarily an early game skill for faster leveling, it becomes ineffective in the late game.
Lack AOE? Look that speed and damage, for me it is high AOE, he cleans very fast.
