I thought that this series was At first sight trilogy but with magic when I read it! I feel some characters are very similar in his books, like he has a prototipe character, dont you think? Great to see you again! It was fun to hear you summerize the plot 😂. E.
Yes! A lot of his characters are veeery similar between his series. It’s not terrible, but it’s something people should know when diving in. For instance, like you also said, this and At First Sight have lots of similarities. I preferred this first book over Tell Me It’s Real though. His plots are always an experience with trying to summarize them lol 😂 especially with a plot as ridiculous as this one.
I binged this series in January and February and am obsessed. I haven't been able to get it out of my mind, like full book-hangover haha. It was probably the most fun I've ever had reading a series. I found a lot of similarities between Sam and Nick from The Extraordinaries and the friendship/family dynamics in both books so hearing you say it's similar to At First Sight makes me excited to start that series. I think book 3 of Tales from Verania (in my mind I say Ver-aye-nee-uh? hah) is probably my favorite in the series, it get's a little more serious and dark but still contains allll the humor. The innuendos are literally non-stop 😂 Your reviews of his books are always the best. I'm going to start Withered + Sere soon and remember you saying it's a good one so I'm super excited for it 😊
I'm so happy to hear the series gets even better. I read The Extraordinaries after this, and I totally agree that Sam and Nick are similar as well. I'm curious to know how the series darkens up a bit, so now I guess I need to bump the second book higher on my TBR. Withered + Sere is very different than his other books, but I enjoyed it for that.
I've only read the first two of this series, but I've loved it so far, and can't wait for more. I will say that I've noticed he likes to reference things from his other series, so I'm not surprised about the Pomeranian or the mention of the man with tattoos. I definitely recommend the Bones Beneath My Skin if you haven't read it. Another great one. He really does have consistently great stories.
It's so good. I highly recommend it. I'm between books, so trying to decide which I should find of his next, though it will probably be the third in the Tales of Verania, because I need to get back to those characters.
Connor!!! You're back! How have you been? I'm gonna read Brothersong really soon! I'm really enjoying the entire "Green Creek" series! Can't wait to hear your thoughts. Might dive into this "Tales from Verania series" series really soon.
Hey! I am back lol I was studying for a big exam. Fingers crossed that I passed. I still need to read Heartsong! I have too many Klune books to review that I didn't want to add more to the pile if that makes sense. It's definitely a different vibe than the Green Creek series, but it's a blast so far.
@@ConnorOBrien Based on your review, I'm looking forward to it. You'll definitely pass, seeing that you've taken time off for good reasons. I'll definitely give this a try, you're kinda passionate about this book based on your review. Can't wait to dive this in. I'm wrapping up Feralsong & Lovesong II before Brothersong. Hope to hear from you again soon!
He's back! Yay! haha. I recently finished reading The Song of Achillies. I wanted to like it as much as others do. I DNF's Song of the Beast and The Blade Itself. I started Ancillary Justice. Not that far into it yet, but it's gonna take some getting used to.
I am! It sounds like you're hitting some misses recently which is so frustrating. I started If I Ever Get Out of Here a while ago, and then I stalled out about halfway through. No reason why. I need to finish it so that I can start something new.
Yay you read it! I loved this book, for all its camp and angst (my fav, make my heart hurt TJ)v. I read this book in like 2 days, however the sequel took me over a year to finish. Oh man, the corn scene? I read this at work and had to keep from laughing.
Loved this book! I read it the first time and listened the second. TJ has amazing performers on his audiobooks. The voice work lived up to the characters and story!
Everyone says that TJ's audiobooks are amazing, so I should definitely give them a shot. I did listen to The House in the Cerulean Sea and loved it, but I think that was a different narrator.
I just finished this one. I’m still laughing! OMG. Gary & Kevin in the woods..... “sounded like a pack of monkeys being pelted with peeled oranges”!! I’m dying. 😂 😂 This book was exactly what I needed. Did you end up reading the rest of the series? Were they just as good?? 🦄
Hi Connor & hi Nook!! 🙋♂️🙋♂️ Thanks for this video. Hope you're both doing OK. When you have time, please do another treat box w/the dogs. Are you still at law school? 📚 🎓 🐾
Hi! We are doing well. I have 4 boxes waiting to be opened lol I always put off the pup videos for way too long. I graduated last May, so Nook and I are back home full time instead of splitting time between home and school.
Ugh I loved this book so much. It was a little jarring at first because it's so crazy, but it quickly grew on me. It ruined other books for me. When are you ever going to find another vulgar, fantasy, romance novel like this??? I love how they unapologetically address some thoughts you tend to have in the back of your mind when reading books (sexual attraction towards certain characters like the king, the dragon, etc.), and I absolutely love how they made it so pretty much everyone wants to have sex with Sam. Is it a bit fanfic-y? Maybe. But I am totally here for it lol

Great Video, it great to see your vids are back
Thank you! I was studying for a big exam, so my videos should be more frequent now. Maybe not consistent, but at least more frequent lol

I have the Bones Beneath My Skin on my shelf waiting to be read! That'll be the next book I read by him, I think!
It's so good. I highly recommend it. I'm between books, so trying to decide which I should find of his next, though it will probably be the third in the Tales of Verania, because I need to get back to those characters.
I just love your reviews so much!😍 I definitely have to pick this book up!

I wanted to too, dont feel bad. I read Circe too and disliked both. I think I really just dont like her writing

@@ConnorOBrien Yeah I kind of am, sadly. I have plenty of other books I can crack open too. Had 2 delivered today even, haha.

The camp is next level! lol It's definitely a series I'll read at home so I can laugh as much as a I want.

Can’t watch it rn cuz my patients keep on calling for me. But I know this is gonna be a great review from you, as usual ☺️
haha it'll still be here when you're free! Thank you!

I love this book too 💖
You're back!!! 💘
I am! Finally getting around to editing some videos I filmed a while back lol
I love this book!!!!!! Also check out Yours, Forever After by Beth Bolden. A MM love story with a great unicorn!
Me too! Have you continued with the series yet? I'll have to check that one out. Thank you for the recommendation!
