  • Fred Williamson, also known as The Hammer, is an American actor and former professional American football defensive back who played in the 1960s.
    Williamson was a fixture of action films in the "blaxploitation" genre; he played the title role of films like The Legend of N*gger Charley (1972) and its 1973 sequel, The Soul of N*gger Charley, Black Caesar (1973), Boss N*gger (1975, which he also produced), and Mean Johnny Barrows (1976, with Anthony Caruso). Williamson established his own production company "Po 'Boy Productions" in 1974, which has produced over 40 movies to date.
