I failed miserably. I used the bigger middle piece and it wasn't that tight, but tight enough. Then I tightened the piercing valve, but I saw it start to back out. And I stopped and came back to the video to see what you said. You said tighten all the way until it stops, so I said okay then. I kept tightening and tightening and eventually the piercing portion of the device fell out. I couldn't easily get it back in with my fingers, then I moved it a tiny bit too. So I probably have a hole in my pipe now that I need to seal up. Dunno what I did wrong. Well I have an idea I guess. But this definitely wasn't as easy as it should have been.
@@malachiflorence6816 I got the version that's in the video. It's not even made by Supco anymore. That one fit better, and it worked a little bit, but I think it caused a leak as well. I dunno. I realized my other fridge is probably cold enough, so I stopped messing with it for now.
So you show the half of the valve where the various adapters fit in. Is the the other half with the piercing needle a one size fits all? If I want to tap my 18,000 BTU Kenmore window unit can I guess what size SUPCO to buy without taking it apart first to measure the copper low pressure line ?
Hello I put the valve but the pipe hose I bought from Amazon does not fit. I bought another one and it doesn’t fit too. What size are you using? Thanks
JB Clearweld works very well. Use a small piece of aluminum tape to protect piercing side but not so much that the epoxy has nothing to adhere too. Its a little tedious but it wont leak if you wait a couple days or so for it to properly cure.
The hot side is the high pressure. The cold, low pressure side will have insulation around it. The hot side is the output from the compressor pump. In a dehumidifier the air hits the cold radiator first. HTH.
The video is helpful, but it seems like you were deliberately trying to make the video short. However, by doing so, you skipped some more detailed explanation that might have been helpful to a novice.
For anyone looking for a copper fitting that you sweat in both high and low side look for CD8414/2 C&D Copper Access Tee Valve 1/4" CD8414 Package of 2
Perfect how to vid. No long intro or extra BS like most the old guy vids
Thank you. Nice job❤

Hello
I put the valve but the pipe hose I bought from Amazon does not fit. I bought another one and it doesn’t fit too. What size are you using? Thanks
If you grab a caliper you can measure the outside diameter of your hose and then buy an appropriately sized valve.
You have piggyback the other insert.
Those are R-12 fittings. Get a adapter for whatever Freon you’re using. Usually R134 to R12
I put liquid gasket on mine just to be sure.
Which product

my pipe is 3/16, can't find a bpv fit this size. Can I use a 1/4" bpv31?
I have same problem. I already have the BPV31 and it doesn't look like 1/4" fits well. Too loose.
They donts show which pipe to put it on.
Suction/vapor pipe (i.e. fat pipe between evaporator & compressor. Probably insulated.). System probably uses capillary tube, so you'll charge with target superheat numbers.
How to tell low pressure ,from high.?
It depends how high you wanna get.
The hot side is the high pressure. The cold, low pressure side will have insulation around it. The hot side is the output from the compressor pump. In a dehumidifier the air hits the cold radiator first. HTH.
