Ace Attorney’s Most Tragic Character (Adrian Andrews Video Essay)

- Farewell, My Turnabout is one of the best and probably the most stressful case in all of Ace Attorney. A case that emits this unique feeling of stress and anxiety. But how does it accomplish this?
Well, because of one character: Adrian Andrews. Which this video is here to discuss:
#aceattorney
Hey everyone thanks so much for watching the video! This one was honestly very stressful to make with school and life and my PC breaking again while exporting the video but we made it through.
Once again, if there are any comments or questions or counterpoints or whatever leave them in the comments. I may do a follow up if there are enough things to talk about.
Anyways have a merry almost Christmas Christmas and happy holidays
Almost Christmas means it wasn’t Christmas!!
Don’t worry you did just splendid, keep up the good work
Happy Holidays!!
SICK!!
It really is an interesting case, Phoenix's first guilty client, Maya gets held hostage, Edgeworth not holding anything back, and it all cultivates to Wright being gratified knowing that his perspective on things wasn't wrong. Because in the court room, both sides are trying to find the truth!
I agree! And it does go into the question of the consequences of the pursuit for truth when you inevitably have to defend a guilty party, but know you have to still give them the best defense possible based on the facts of the case.
I bet that in 3-2, when you met her alive and well, you were glad that everything was fine with her :)
tru dud
Absolutely one of the best parts of this case
@@AzraelAsItGetsVtuber Yes, and this was extremely unexpected, since many (yes, there are some exceptions, but again...) characters do not "come back"
i was! she's such a girlboss
Yeah, you are freaking Right
Also relatedly (I guess spoilers for anybody reading the comments of an analysis of a case they haven't played yet), I love how this case subverts your use of the magatama. Like, they add it in the first or second case as an obvious narrative justification for a new gameplay mechanic so you're just like okay cool, basically just some more minigames as well as more hints to figure out the probably more complicated mysteries this time around.
So then you get to this case and by this point it's second nature so you ask if Matt killed Juan and he says no so you're just like okay cool, Magatama has a 100% hit rate so I'm not even going to think about questioning it. Then of course they pull the fucking rug out with the reveal that he actually hired an assassin, meaning he "technically" didn't kill Juan and actually believes that.
It's a great way to almost write out the plot holes the magatama could surface. My personal theory after this case was that the Magatama could be fooled if the person is a good enough manipulator or the circumstances like Matt's where it is technically the truth, but that is besides the point.
It is great how this case establishes that the magatama isn't a 100% get out of jail free card and the false sense of security because of it makes Matt's lie even more deceitful and hits us harder once the truth is revealed.
@@CoolCarGuy maybe if someone forgot what they did or believes that they didnt do it or the thing that they are lying about so they don't know that they are lying therefore the magatama doesn't activate could be cool
@@bulbaa2241 the Magatama kinda does reveals lies that even the person don’t know through the black Psyche-Locks in Apollo Justice.
@@dylannoname we didn't know it had that power yet but it probably would've shown black locks for Matt
@@chrisriley2321 no it wouldnt have, black locks are repressed memories or deluded people blocking out the truth. matt knows EXACTLY what he has done and is not mentally damaging himself to cover up the truth
Adrian Andrews is the most perfect and clear-cut representation of depression in media I have seen. I also know Sayori from DDLC is very realistic, but I haven't played, so I can't be 100% sure
Adrian wasn't just a great character, she also served a great purpose as a red herring. They set up the evidence and motive for Adrian so that despite the suspicious circumstances of defending Engarde, we still slipped into thinking he was innocent and Adrian was our killer.
Her being the perfect "and here's our culprit" character made the eventual reveal perfect: it left me reeling in shock while talking to Matt after the reveal. It's incredible how the writers made it very obvious that Matt was guilty but then were able to convince us that he was innocent by framing Adrien perfectly
You also can't tell me that Adrien didn't have a crush on Celeste. They couldn't put it in because of the time and that it was in Japan, not America, but it was very implied. Makes her a little more tragic: the love of her life was involved with these shitty men who used and hurt her, and then she killed herself before Adrian got the chance to show her true love.
mfw the anime turned them into sisters 💀💀💀
But another thing to add on which I find so interesting about Ace Attorney in general is how they are able to take these basic mystery tropes like the "Damsel in Distress" through Maya or the red herring through Adrian and portray a realistic portrayal of the consequences of those circumstances. it is why these characters feel so interesting as Maya could simply be the person we have to save all the time or Adrian be that character to skew the investigation into the wrong direction, but the games expand it to being the victim of constant peril just from your family history or being falsely accused of a murder after so much tragedy. It gives them an extra dimension that makes them so much more interesting imo.
@@CoolCarGuy The anime is wrong I refuse to accept that
I very much agree but also I don't think it being American would've made a difference in the censorship aspect let's be honest-
@@CoolCarGuy it's like sailor moon, they're totally cousins!
I had already seen something that spoiled that Engarde was the killer by heavily implying it, but even I was still half-convinced that he wasn't the real killer somehow because of how good the writing was. Like throughout the whole thing I had a feeling the twist might be coming bc of the spoiler, but it still managed to really shock me when it actually happened.
I'd argue Maya is the most tragic character cause she was getting screwed over by life her entire life.
At 2 years old her mother runs away and her family name is disgraced
At 17 her older sister is murdered, then she is blamed for the murder.
At 18 her aunt is arrested for murder and her only family left is her little cousin. Then she gets kidnapped and has her life put in danger and is starved.
At 19 she watches her own mother die in front of her after only just meeting her again, almost gets killed, learns that her remaining family plotted to kill her with even Pearl included (granted she didn't understand what was going on).
And then whatever happened in SoJ idk haven't played
SPOILER
At 28 accused of a double murder, and then used for blackmail.
Not to mention that being a spirit medium, she would have to entangle herself with many tragedies and conflicts that normal people wouldn't normally experience. I'm just in awe that she hasn't broken down so much after everything that happened to her
edit: added spoiler
@@igan4065 she got an amazing friend in Wright and burgers
Ya the video is click bait, honestly Pearl got fucked pretty hard to, but he will get his views. Did not even watch it.
I could argue the most tragic character is lamiroir
A lot of characters could be spoken of as most tragic
Andrews feels like the real defendant in the case, only this time, we're the "prosecutor" who only cares about victory, and our rival the "lawyer" who knows she's innocent, and seeks to convict the real monster.
I don't agree. Phoenix wanted to catch the real murderer too. But since his emotions, the circumstances, and pressure led to it, he basically forced his mind into believing that Andrews was the killer.
@@Hero_My_Beloved i know, but phoenix say he feel like a monster in the case for protecting engarde
@@aleelrecopilador702 what I meant by emotions was that since Maya's life was in jeopardy, his emotions for her took over and made him think irrationally which as a result made him think that Andrews was the killer.
It is only logical that he feels like a monster afterwards since he let his emotions take over, which consequently almost convicted an innocent person. He feels guilty because he went against his own morals and ideology for his own sake.
She was such a beautiful character. And this was the case where my respect for Franziska was born.
Super glad of what happened at the end of that case and seeing her back in the next game.
Smile Status: Protected
Me: Satisfied
Adrian really spoke to me as a character.
I know how it feels to have everyone beat me down and have no power to talk back. I was Adrian and I'm not going to lie and say I didn't cry during this case. Her story cut deep because I already had a wound. I think personally if the character invokes something so strongly in the people they represent, that's the sign they're really well written. She feels like a reflection of myself and I love this whole case to death..
I feel you, and me too... her story broke me.
glad people give Adrian the admiration her character writing rightfully needs. Learning the truth about Matt and Celeste is a real punch in the gut, to realize just how horrible a monster not just him, but his rival was, as well. Probably the best part of Adrian's character, though, is that she isn't totally in the right, either. She fabricated evidence with the intention of a framejob, when she couldn't truly be sure about Matt's guilt beyond gut instinct. She was right, but hindsight is 20/20. She was instilled with fear when put on the witness stand because Adrian thought it might be recompense for her crime. But she made it out, in the end. This case does such a good job at making you care.
Adrian is sad and all but Luke Atmey is just a play on words for "look at me". Have you seen the guy? Anyway, very excited for this video

It gets better, his full name is Luke Atmey Noze
@@cowabungaitis9319 I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My sister looked at him once and said “he looks like bill cypher”
I absolutely ADORE Adrian Andrews, she’s one of my favorite characters!!
My brother and I played the AA games together and we were both so incredibly happy when she made a comeback in the stolen turnabout. She deserves so much more respect than she gets
I love Adrian Andrews, she’s such a cool character and her dynamic in the story is so interesting.
I personally have the Headcannon that she really didn’t have many friends aside from Celeste and Luke Atmey.
Her dynamic with Luke in 3-2 is super interesting and it also adds an extra layer of sadness because… well we know how the stolen turnabout ends.
What was her dynamic with Luke? It was a while since I played it
Yes, she most likely didn't have much friends. She acts very much like a person with borderline personality disorder.
And this kind of people doesn't have the strength to have many friends.
@@AnMCommnah, she doesn't have BPD. Someone being codependent doesn't equal them being BPD.
@@myon9431 This comment reminded me of some Fradrian fanfics (two) where Adrian had BPD. They were quite interesting.
I'd say the one difference in Phoenix and franziska is, while yeah they both are similar in the regard they stay true to the 'my client is innocent' for phoenix and 'the defendant is guilty' for franziska, Phoenix really only takes cases where he truly believes the client to be innocent while franziska would take any case and go 'the defendant is guilty' and never once consider if they might actually be innocent because of how she was raised being told as a procesrcutor your job is to get a guilty verdict. Phoenix would never take a case if he thought that they truly did it because he couldn't hold true to his moral of believing in his client until the very end. This is the case where that moral is shook and shook him to his core. Yeah, his client may not have pulled the trigger but his client did indeed kill the victim, he found himself defending an innocent man and he had to go against his morals and continue to defend a client he didn't believe in at all, a client he KNEW to be guilty because if he didn't Maya would be dead. It might not get brought up but I'm sure in the canon of the games he lost sleep over this case, yeah because of the thought of Maya winding up dead but also because he defended and believed in a guilty client, his morals had failed him, he probably woke up in a cold sweat occasionally imaging that it may happen again eventually. I'm sure he even considered handing over his badge for at least a moment. Even though Mia was with him throughout the end of the trial, and she was assuring him, I'm sure he felt like he failed her as well.
When I played the game when I was younger, had a lil crush on Adrian Andrews, was nice to see her improve on herself and show more emotion.
The only other case that I can think of where you defend a guilty client and has such an interesting moral implication (Great Ace Attorney spoilers!)
is The Adventure of the Runaway Room. It has many parallels to this case from being forced into getting an acquittal for the sake of staying in Britain, highlighting the corruption of its justice system, the racism you experience since no-one would trust a Japanese lawyer in the late 19th/early 20th century Britain and how much shit is against Ryunosuke, and the fact that even though you acquitted him he died anyways which is grim as fuck. It's one of the best Ace Attorney cases like this one and makes you think twice about how you play these games.
I do want to eventually analyze DGS and their third cases. Runaway Room is a banger though
@@CoolCarGuy I would love a review of TGAA's third cases, or the cases that would.take the place of third cases in other AA games such as The Adventure of the Clouded Kokoro and Enoch Drebbers Trial and how it id that these cases were able to completely shatter the Third Case Syndrome of Ace Attorney.
The first half of 6-5, turnabout revolution was similar
Spoilers ahead
although it didn’t start out as a murder case, but rather a legal dispute over the ownership and identity of the founder’s orb. he certainly was having even more painful flashbacks of Farewell, My Turnabout as you, controlling Apollo start to point the finger at paul for the death of dr buff. Thankfully, maya wasn’t in any real danger after all for further spoiler reasons
Love to find there's a video essay on Adrian, and this captures why Case 2-4 is one of my favorite of the series. Even when I was spoiled the plot twist, it was still good and enjoyable. Was disappointed when the anime changed it to her "sister" dying instead of her friend (who's pretty much her love interest). So glad the algorithm blessed me with this video and can't wait to delve in to the rest of your video essays
I’m normally one to not like investigation sequences, but the second investigation sequence was probably my favorite in all of ace attorney. It was still an investigation, but so exciting and it kept you at the edge of your seat.
giving HER the respect she deserves 💅
can't wait for this e.e
11:30 seamless transition, bravo good sir 👏
My guy... How much time did you spent on the editing? Every second has some kind of vissual aid. A+ honestly.
tbh way too long. Plus kind of broke my computer with all the effects but we got it done
@@CoolCarGuy legend
I think the greatest compliment is can give this case is making a genuine all-timer that stands on par with the best trials in the franchise, despite the main conflict of the trial revolving around a handful of characters we’ve never seen or heard of before. Adrian Andrews is wonderful, Matt Engarde is one of the most memorable villains (and my personal favorite) in the entire franchise, Shelly de Killer’s a lot of fun…It’s incredible how strong this chapter is despite being so standalone.
What a banger of a video! Editing is on another level, and its good to see that Adrian out of all the characters gets some recognition. The way she is at the center of Phoenix, Edgeworth and Franziska is something I never really thought about.
I see Edgeworth brining up Adreian's past in the first trial as both him trying to find the truth and him trying to force her to confront her pain so she can allow herself to heal. At that point in the case, she's still trying to run from her grief and is clearly in a downward spiral, she needs to be confronted DIRECTLY with her pain and trauma to process it and move forward again.
Sometimes you need to be cruel in order to be kind.
Oh defiantly. She was stuck between the denial and anger stages of the five stages of grief and at some point, sometimes being as brutal as possible is necessary to break someone out of that stage. Granted the method of using trauma as a point of evidence and revealing a witnesses' secrets to the courtroom and saying he doesn't care if she kills herself to finally get her to crack is kind of far, but it fits the characterization and flaws of Edgeworth and the idea that really all parties want to help her, just in various extremes that kind of tear her apart with the contradicting advice
@@CoolCarGuy to be fair, the secret that she didn’t want to reveal was her dependence on Celeste, not her suicide attempt, so I always interpreted it as him never actually revealing her secrets to the court, but just using a very manipulative bluff to get her to talk. So that’s…good I guess?? I love your point about how this is an example of Edgeworth over-correcting, God this case was so good for developing Phoenix, Edgeworth, and Franziska as characters
You really knocked it out of the park!
It really speaks volumes about this series that it was willing to meaningfully subvert its own tropes by the second game, and did it so masterfully as well.
Excellent work! You even filled my gap in my memory that "victory" doesn't really mean victory. I would never let a criminal get his freedom simply because a guilty verdict is bad (in words it's simple, but in fact 2-4 is not as easy as it seems). It was after this case that I somehow began to be careful at the beginning of each case (especially in 3-4, an innocent girl can hide the horror from hell, which is also imprinted in my memory). Of course, a lawyer should trust his client, but we must not forget that an innocent person may be hiding a criminal --> then his innocence is out of the question. Trust, but check!
YOU SAID IT DUDE. YOU SAID IT PERFECTLY. I JUST FINISHED JUSTICE FOR ALL AND I COULDN’T FIND THE WORDS TO EXPLAIN THE GENIUS OF THE LAST CASE BUT YOU JUST GAVE THEM TO ME. GREAT VIDEO, I’VE BEEN WANTING TO WATCH THIS VIDEO ESSAY FOR AGES BUT SINCE I STARTED MY FIRST ACTUAL PLAYTHROUGH OF THE TRILOGY I BANNED MYSELF FROM SPOILERS BUT I GOT TO WATCH THIS AND IT WAS AMAZING! YOU ARE. SO RIGHT.
Adrian Andrews, This case, and 2-2 with Mimi Miney, are the only reasons why Justice for All is one of the best games of the series. They are very tragic characters
Yessss I loved 2-2 so much I feel like people don’t talk about it enough
@@EF-kk3vh this might be a hot take but 2-2 is the best “case 2” of the series. And it DEFINITELY is the best case 2 of the trilogy.
I love Mimi Miney, she’s one of the most sympathetic characters imo
@@Premonition_333 2-2 is very important for the story, usually second case are not that important. 1-2 is important, but like most of the first game felt too fast
@@valentds yeah the pacing overall of the first game was so fast since everything was being introduced and it was the first game, the length was a bit shorter as well, especially for the first 2 cases. But 2-2 fixed that for sure
this case is a mirror of the Phoenix wright and Edgeworth from the first time they in the court... love how Edgeworth seem like the underdog while Phoenix is the final boss even tho you still played as him.
The production quality of this video, compared to the number of subs you have, is astounding. Man, this is too good.
So cool getting to see you talk about Adrian Andrews! This is my favourite case in the Trilogy and it made me put Justice for All as one of my all time favourite Ace Attorney games despite its flaws. Adrian Andrews immediately hooked me in as a character and hearing you talk in depth about her is just awesome, you really captured how important she is for this case! Keep up the great work!
The writing and editing on this video is amazing! You are able to go so in-depth while keeping it well-paced and not overbearing. The editing isn't in your face but very creative. Extremely high quality stuff, especially with the busy life you've described in the description/end of the video. You've reignited my interest in Ace Attorney and I hope to see more of your stuff after I finish looking through your catalog!
An interesting difference between ace attorney & danganronpa is the fact that in danganronpa, not only is your life on the line, but anyone can be guilty. If everyone thinks that someone is going to be guilty, it isn't even your job to defend that person, just to find the culprit, so it's a lot more cutthroat in that way. but it is a killing game so that probably is also a very cutthroat thing.
Danganronpa is more prosecution than defense ;)
YESS, it's nice to see adrian getting the recognition she deserves! farewell my turnabout is my favorite case in the series, thanks in large part to how well-written she is.
I have a lot of feelings about Adrian and Farewell My Turnabout as a whole and you put them all into words perfectly. It's my favourite case in the series and Adrian is one of my favourite characters and watching people play through Farewell for the first time and uncovering all its nuance and twists is something I will never get tired of.
I've been following your channel since I discovered your Kazuma's character analysis. And I glad to see your train of thoughts about this as well.
Your videos have really smooth and satisfying transitions. And you put a lot of thought into your analyses which I really respect. This was the first full length video I saw on your channel and it won't be the last!
Adrian is my favourite character in all of Ace Attorney. It's one of the most I've ever felt bad for a character, especially in Trail 2- pinning it on her, knowing fully that she was innocent, just to buy time felt awful. Seeing her happy in Stolen Turnabout felt like a true reward for Phoenix's efforts in this case.
I also love that the moral question in the lose lose situation is left up to the player. Even though it doesn't matter you're still asking them to decide what morals they have and who they want to save.
Yknow, one thing I love about this case is that it doesnt just pile on the pain one peice after another, it gives you a tiny glimmer of hope, then crushes it absolutely, rinse and repeat
This video helped me remember why I love Ace Attorney so much, and why I love writing so much. Thank you.
I think the case was great. Another case that brought that third dimension was Turnabout Academy in Dual Destinies which put you in a third dimension of feeling other characters rather than finding a verdict right away.
This is absolutely lovely! Yeah I love a video game about lawyers, this is why. People like you get it. I stopped playing for two months agonizing over that final decision. Yeah it’s just a video game, but it’s made me look at my real life values and question what I know. Maybe, just maybe the series has made me a better person.
Que bueno que conocí este canal, es mi caso favorito de la saga y me encanta que alguien le dé el reconocimiento que se merece
GOOD LORD THE EDITING IN THIS VIDEO IS TOP NOTCH. MY GOD! I just found this video in my recommended, and I do not regret clicking on it. Great video!
This in my opinion, is one of the best ace attorney essay videos ive seen on youtube. Amazing work.
some of the best editing I have seen in a while, props to you dude
Man, the OG games have such great writing. Only DGS can rival this case in quality
i finished this case a few days ago and it was nerve racking, like i never felt that pressured by a game and the relief at the end made me nearly cry.

What the fu-?!
That transition was flawless, holy sh-
You did a great analysis, and the editing was just amazing! This case is the reson I re watched JFA multiple times, but never quite realized the role Adrian had on making it such an excellent story case, so this has open my eyes quite a bit
Wow, the editing on this video is amazing! I've watched a lot of video essays and often it's just a voice over on top of clips or still images. I was blown away by the variety of graphics, transitions, and small animations used in this video! Truly impressive and refreshing to watch.
Also, of course, enjoyed the video's subject matter. I agree that this is the best case of the original trilogy imo. Adrian's situation really makes you question everything, even your own character and determination, which no other case truly does.
You're doing great work! Seeing this, I think I have to check out the other videos on your channel now.
congratulations. you gave me the push to want to play the game again. i love the series. and the last one i played was miles edgeworth game from the NDS. bought me the whole series along with the new turnabout series while it's on sale. gonna replay the whole game again like for the very first time since i can barely remember anything and fall in love with it again.
I'm glad to hear it! Hope you have fun
This case is my ABSOLUTE favourite, and I have rambled about it so many times for all the reasons why it's the BEST, and yet you brought in even MORE points that I hadn't considered myself yet!! GOD I LOVE THIS CASE SO MUCH

Adrian Andrews fans vs Edgeworth during the trial
Wow, I am so happy to have been recommended this video, superb editing and great audio quality for everything! Secondly, I'm glad to see a video essay done on Adrian. Personally she holds a special place in my heart not just because of all your points made but I relate to her *deeply* , and this case making her this scapegoat of sorts really helped me in loving and relating to her character much more. Glad to see more people appreciating her arc and the writing done for her!
Really Great Video!
Really good editing & character analysis!!
Amazing analysis and I couldn’t agree more with what you said! The video editing itself was also really nice. I was actually tearing up while watching because I’m either overly emotional today or just because this case is my favourite in the entire franchise. The emotions it invokes on the player is insane and you were able to make me reflect back on them haha
That's incredibly deeb and well thought-through, tysm for broadening my prospective on both writing and viseo games!!
this was such a good essay!! i absolutely loved watching this, well done! adrian is just. such a good character. and you analysed her so so well! especially the part about her character supporting the dynamic between nick and edgeworth and fran... just!! really good analysis well done again!!
I really love the editing i nyour analasis videos.
I wish I knew how to make many of the effects you did in your videos, seriously the editing is 10\10
God. It was depressing treating her like that.
She COULD have been the killer. She had means, motive and opportunity.
The difference to other killers is that she chose not to.
Faults and all.
stumbled upon this at random, and i'm glad I did! I really do think Farewell my Turnabout is in the top 3 AA cases of all time; it's just the culmination of the themes and characters explored in the whole game, and its tense, and emotional, and perfect. Everything you said about Adrian is right, and as someone who also writes I really appreciate acknowledging the significance of a good side character. Because yeah. She is the fulcrum of this story, and if she was impossible to care for, the trial just would not work.
One thing I think is fun, although I don't blame you for not mentioning it, but another reason players often assume it has to be Adrian is because she's the only NEW witness to the trial. Every other witness is a character returning from the first game, Lotta, Oldbag, Will Powers, and the game has already established in its second case that returning characters will not be culpable. Thus many people just automatically write those characters off as suspects and zero in on Adrian because of the general rule "our client is never guilty." It's such a small writing trick but it's very clever, because I think if there was even one more new witness you could possibly throw the blame on, the narrative deception would not be as strong, so the twist would have less impact.
How much you wanna bet the writers felt so bad for how abusive they treated her in this case, they were like "Let's put her in a case in the next game where she's all happy and positive about life, so that way players will know that she's doing a-okay now"
I really love this character, I have always identified with her. I'm glad this is her time to shine with this video ❤
I totally agree with this so much and had you explained this just perfectly. This case has to be by far one of my favorite cases in the trilogy.
They wrote it so well, you could practically feel the desperation in that case, and as you stated it almost felt too easy for its own good. You get a call from an anonymous user who managed to kidnap someone you truly care for and request for you to earn a guilty verdict for an airhead you later on meet. You had no other choice so you had to agree to the terms in order for you to keep Maya safe. When you then go deeper into the case and Adrian appears, everything lines up to her as the main suspect. In order to truly find out if all of this was blasphemy, Edgeworth had to push forward by practically having to be ignorant about Adrian’s past emotions. To the point where he practically said he couldn’t care less if she did commit suicide. Except that step forward allowed them to extend the trial further. Everyone tried their best to prolong the trial in hopes for Gumshoe and the rest to find Maya, but in this case I feel as if it shows glimpses of what Phoenix becomes in order to save someone he truly cares about. They just managed to write some side character perfectly to fit in between the situation at hand and make you just feel guilty for them.
Might I add, I’m super glad she then appeared later on in Stolen Turnabout. We could see the person she had become after the case, she developed and learned from it. Rather than taking it to heart and personally, she grew from the whole experience.
Just super glad to see her again and she’s thriving
You’ve earned a sub, keep up the astounding work
Amazingly put! Glad you liked it
I have so many things to say lol
1. The editing on this video is absolutely amazing!! Especially as a college student with the work you have 😭
2. This was explained so well- like I rant to all my friends about why this case is the best one (or one of the best) (they don’t even play ace attorney 💀) and you summarized my thoughts perfectly. Adrian not only has one of the best and most emotional character arcs herself, but forces the player to have one too and that’s amazing
3. Thanks for helping keep the ace attorney fandom alive lol 😭
Honestly I could never put into words why this case was soo good when I played it, I was really invested and I didn't really know why but you manage to explain it so well and you nailed everything about the case and why it's good
I didn't know there was a scene for video essays about Ace Attorney BUT I AM HERE FOR IT
I do think it is really interesting how the series conditions you to see things in a certain way, and then this case completely spins things on its head
Enjoyed the video essay
3:31 i did doubt the client’s innocence because we already were told that maya was captured and we had to defend the client and get a complete requital no matter what. so it was already fishy.
Thanks for putting why I love her so much in words and in this great video.
Incredible editing and letting the community know how good this case actually was!
I related to this character’s reliance on a façade to the point where I looked up a walkthrough just to be sure that she wasn’t the killer.
Man, it's crazy to see such a banger from a small meme channel. Definitely make more!!
Def one of the hardest hitting imo, maybe that's because I didnt get it spoiled beforehand for once 🥴
Finally. Finally you've uploaded.
I really like your videos. Keep it up, my man
I hope more videos will be more timely now on. Just a lot going on for me personally while making this one
Yo I just wanna take a minute to compliment the editing
Usually videos like this aren't very visually interesting so I put em on in the background while sewing but this actually very entertaining to Watch too :)

Great video, the editing is awesomee
Fuck, I rlly gotta finish this case one of these days, it's so good but I never got around to getting it done! I rlly liked what I played so far tho, the adrian andrews story is so good and i love the shelly dekiller stuff so far too, although rise from the ashes will alwass have a special place in my heart, i got spoiled on the villain of that arc ages ago but I still loved every second of it!
A video about my favorite case character? Yes please!
My guy you got some SICK editing. Nice job well done! RIP your computer tho :(
Incredible video thank you for sharing!!!!
i literally got shievers when read her backstory for the fist time. because, well, it appears to be unbelievebaly relatable... you see, i've never met a person irl suffering similar dependence issue. that's why self-reflexia usually gets problematic. but seeing Andrews was uhm somehow therapeutic?
Thank you Recommendations for this *_wonderfully edited gem!_* Honestly we need more deep dives into Ace Attorney's Character is and Story. Then people might stop laughing at me when I tell them this is tied with Metal Gear Solid as my Favourite Video Game Series.
How does Adrian change during her appearance in Trials and Tribulations? How does it affect her story?
I may explain further in a future video but for me it feels like that appearance is more of like the rehabilitation stage of her journey to recovery. She suffered through a lot from this case alone so it’ll take her time to find herself completely.
She's smiling a lot more. Like, a lot.
Hey, why's your editing so slick? You deserve more subs. Great video!
Side note: I got your video on Kazuma on my recommendations right when I'm playing Great Ace Attorney. Now I have more questions that I don't want the answers to at the moment.
This video was amazing, seeing some Adrian Andrews appreciation is really nice.
I really loved the editing of this video!! It has great production value!
I'm sticking around to see what else you can come up with!!
She's like Ms. Pauling, all the hard work, except she suffers the worst fate than jail time
This was so good and just reminds me how soul crushing the bad ending is for this case.
She makes the bad ending feel even worse, and the good ending feel even better, especially with Engarde scratching his face out of stress in becoming De Killer’s target
Okay but tbh I'd argue that Mimi Miney's story in 2-2 is FAR more tragic, Think of this, She's got something going on, doing great, She's got a sister who's advancing in life, got a brand new car she loves, things are going great other than a crappy boss.
1. 14 Deaths in one fucking go, 14 people she did not want to kill whatsoever.
2. She then goes on to go home, her sister in with her. A bit of tiredness, then flames
She comes to, her face melting the fuck off, smoke everywhere, She them comes to in the hospital, she's lost her face, and her sister, death total 15
3. She sees this as a chance to escape, she has 15 deaths under her belt, there's your job at risk and your boss will probably make sure you never get hired again. She has to throw herself away because she cannot face her circumstances head on.
4. Now she is Ini Miney, she has no car, drivers license, just a permit, and is now stuck in a field she hates.
5. Turns out that her past boss os trying to summon the dead, a dead that doesn't exist. If it fails because she isn't dead, then everything comes crashing down, the deaths on her shoulders, her sister being dead, everything is coming back.
6. She is now forced to add yet another to her death count, and in the moments she does she for the first time lets all her real feelings out.
be
7. She 're being brought on the stand. And this attorney is now bringing back every damn thing she did as Mimi back to life, She relives her face being melted off in her damaged sprite aswell.
8. She is tried for her crimes and is most likely executed, a horrifying legacy brought to some rest possibly. It's only fair isn't it... Ini?
A video essay? ABOUT ACE ATTORNEY? Fuck this I'm subbing, I discovered you for meme videos but now I'm all in.
Great analysis, but I would argue that Dee Vasquez is equally if not more tragic, if you look at her actions beyond the surface
Great video, great editing.
