The star of this show, Tommy Handley, appears on the Beatles Sgt. Peppers LHCB album cover. Born in Liverpool, he would have been a local hero for The Beatles, and his BBC radio show, ITMA (“It’s That Man Again”) ran for ten years, from 1939 to 1949, until Handley’s sudden death from a brain haemorrhage.
I was watching the world at war when this show from 1939 was being shown, what a gem this show must have been to the war torn UK of that time. Pity the BBC doesn't re broadcast this.
"A Good Sneak In For A Snook" - snook are fish which were readily available and not rationed after WWII. They were tolerated by Brits until their regular cod and haddock made a comeback.
