  • Chile has expelled dozens of migrants after some were blamed for the death of a truck driver last week.
The government has imposed a 15-day state of emergency, saying it was necessary to maintain security and public order.
Many of the deported are from Venezuela and the security clampdown is affecting Chileans, too.
    Al Jazeera's @Laura Burdon-Manley reports.

uncontrolled and illegal immigration are lowering our quality of life. We have reacted because crimes have arisen that did not exist in Chile, such as hired assassins, kidnappings with fatal endings, a lot of drugs, these are some things. and the final straw was the murder of a truck driver. It is not Chile's fault that the communists have deviated from Venezuela.

500.000 - that's half a million Venezuelans - have entered a country of only 19 million in the last few years. They bring a completely different culture and some even bring levels of violent crime never seen in Chile. Last week a truck driver was thrown off a bridge... Chile has also received hundreds of thousands of Haitians, Peruvians etc, so it's clear that a line has to be drawn. Venezuelans now require a visa, as most pretend to be tourists and then never leave. These Venezuelans in the video are entering completely illegally.
