Hi, thank you very much for your review. Based on what you have said in this great video of yours, I have decided to not buy this flashlight (for my biggest test of flashlights).
As it seems to be the rule, Nitecore always brings up great features and gizmos to the table, and really innovate in good directions. But then they also screw it up with some banality.
EDC33 - great combination of aluminum OP reflector (very efficient by its design, good heat dissipation), that has smartly built-in both flood, spot and sensor. Also 4Ah 18650 is a great thing to have. But integrated battery? Not user changeable? That is a deal breaker. Moreover the tailswitch is usuitable for most everyday jobs.
I also own Nitecore HC68. A great idea to use both spot and flood and have the ability to switch between them smoothly for a perfect beam for every occasion. Then Nitecore screws it up by using inefficient TIR optics, not that smart right button controls, and the crappiest LEDs - SST-40s. These have so ugly CRI, that I call it "grey light", and an engineer from Czech optics factory calls it "dark light". Both are fitting for insanely low CRI LEDs like SST-40.
Or my Nitecore HC65 UHE. Good innovation is the 4Ah 18650 and their Nitecore UHE LEDs - very efficient. But then they proceed with killing the efficiency with stupid TIR optics, that not only degrades it, but it also projects huge maps and circles and artifacts when using flood LEDs. High CRI floodlight is then useless thanks to maps and low luminous output. And they have once more completely changed the controls, making it even worse (mainly the RED modes). Not to mention the "IP68" that gets killed by flappy USB cover that opens almost by itself.
I would like to ask Nitecore, what's the reason for inventing great new technologies or gizmos, and then kill it with basic mistakes?

Yeah, they tend to do this a lot.

One by one, new Nitecore flashlights have built-in batteries = shorter durability = more profit. But they won't make money on an informed customer. I have many flashlights, but from Nitecore I only have one NU33, which has strange power drops to extend the operating time in the technical data...Nitecore is going in the wrong direction in many different areas.

I am liking mine, except I wish it had direct access to a moonlight or low setting. Maybe on a light double tap or something?
An edc light needs to not blind the hell out of you when turning it on at night to look in a bag or around the tent, etc.

i have never seen a placement of charging port this worse. imagine you use it underwater and accidentaly spin the charging port bezel

And what if the port itself is waterproof?

It would be great light but this build in battery is a bad joke. Proprietary (and always overpriced) battery's are annoying enough but at least it's possible to swap them without any problems. Its actually funny because the target customer of this particular light cares about this a lot. Although it has "edc" in the name it's not really an edc light, it's more of a duty torch.
It was a great idea, build quality is good, UI make a lot of sense, battery indicator and locking solution are really great, this 4000 mah (almost certainly Vapcell) is good, but why is it sealed inside?
No professional can really rely on such flashlight. Changing battery's on the go and in many cases possibility of using cr 123's if necessary is pretty important for leos and s&r.
Edc with such green tint and without moonlight shortcut needs absolutely nobody. Ok maybe there are few exceptions...
We need Edc 33, 2.0 or Pro with ability to change battery's.
Nitecore did something really different and interesting and somehow still managed shoot this product in the knee.
    In my humble opinion
    Until next one

My SP33S It does not work unless the charger cable is connected. What is the problem, given that the battery is fully charged?

Firstly, be careful with that battery. If you can you should test the battery and try the flashlight with another one too.
