My brother was locked up here during Katrina. It was pure hell. He was starved, left to drown, in extreme heat. Sad noone got justice for what the City did.

But I Was Never Able To Explore The Abandoned New Orleans Prison That Place Is Way To Close To The Newer Police Department And Their Police Cars Parked Near That Abandoned Prison All The Time Whenever I Drive Past That Place.

I worked in the CCC building as a sheriff's deputy in the mid 90's. This HOD building was deplorable even back then. I'm thankful I wasn't assigned to this facility.

I worked there when I was 19 in 1981 or 82. That brought back memories. The room with the windows and the scale on the wall was the lineup room. Witnesses were brought in to view lineups. House of D 7th floor was where the homosexual inmates were kept. If an inmate identified as homosexual or was arrested for a male prostitution offense, he would be sent to that floor.
Before it closed, there was a story of at least one inmate who would let himself out the building and party in the French Quarter. He even took pictures next to mounted policemen. Thanks for the momories. Did you catually go in the CCC? I'd like to see that.
The worst place was OPP. That was a dungeon!

Id be down to explore further with yall into the old jail and i think yall should have continued forward but i understand yall wasnt prepared for worst case scenarios.. im an amatuer mixed martial artist that comes prepared if yall ever want to explore it more in depth again... thanx for the abandoned new orleans videos

One could reasonably argue that, at least in New Orleans, the high jailed population is less a reflection of our crime rate and more reflective of our incarceration rate. Here, you can be incarcerated for almost anything, including being too poor to pay your fine(s) or swing bail.
