  • I built this 42" thumb as this size factory made is about $1,200 10 years ago. It holds up the tough jobs of demolition and able to handle up to 3000 lb slabs. I have done 5 house demolition with it and some footing can be quiet heavy and bulky. also remove many tree stumps and logs...

Ya know... I have several worn motor grader cutting edges that I've been wondering what to do with them. Then I watched this. While I thought about making a mechanical thumb, I just never got around to it. Now, I'm inspired (and actually need one at the moment) Your handiwork looks terrific and it just goes to show.. you _never_ throw away "scrap" steel! Great job Osborne Bay!

Thank you for your video. I am going to make my backhoe a thumb and searched a video to give some ideas how to. This video was just what I ordered :)

The teeth are from an old loader blade.
