    So while updating my neocities page I realised the cherry skirt is actually from 1996 NOT 1993 like I said! Idk where I got '93 in my head lol

    I also miss the punkier, more experimental and free spirited vibe the fashion and community used to have. I feel like it used to be easier to be a weirdo in peace.

    Definitely agree about the less pressure to be perfect leading to more experimental coordinates thing, especially with the thing about pictures being on the internet forever.

    i totally agree with your point about the "punkish" element of lolita being lost. people in the fashion are too afraid to experiment nowdays because they dont want to risk being called an "ita" (i lowkey kinda resent that term now because instead of being used for people who are wildly misrepresenting/misunderstanding the fashion and treating it like a costume, its being used to force people to conform and place themselves inside a box). theres less experimentation because everyone is aiming to be the this perfect, cookie-cutter representation of the fashion at all times and thats not a realistic mentality. youre allowed to have fun with the fashion. and like..dont get me wrong, i understand there are certain rules and essential aspects to lolita that should not change as they are what makes the fashion what it is, but the whole point/basis of lolita was about rebellion. it was a way for young women (and men) to express themselves in a society that said they should act and dress a certain way or be ridiculed. (its almost ironic that we have come full circle)
    (also unrelated but i also want to add my own personal answer to the question lol bc i feel like its an important aspect of the early community. i really miss the days of lifestylers, people who would wear the fashion at all times. even in japan, this isnt really a common thing anymore (tho i could be wrong, please feel free to correct me). i miss seeing the street snaps of lolitas all dressed up to go get the weekly shop or whatever, there was something rlly charming about that..idk)

      @@CynicalNeoPrincessism I’ve had a little look, this is exactly what I’ve been missing! Blogging feels like a personal scrapbook/journal and I’ve missed that touch compared to Facebook groups etc. Thanks for sharing and I’ll definitely be following ♡🦉

      @@yellowbear2915 I completely agree! I joined the lolita community just when things on livejournal were dying and everything was moving over to facebook, and honestly I miss it a lot. I feel like LJ afforded you the ability to share so much more, you could post all your photos from your day along with any information you felt added something, whereas with fb and instagram its basically just a straight coord shot with the coord information. And it's so difficult trying to pull people to view your blog. :/ And thank you for following! ❤❤

    I get what you mean about not having favourites. It's partly that "sparks joy" mentality (where if you only get things that make you happy, then how could you favour one thing over another), and partly just understanding that not everything you own has to be a dream item and you need those "boring" practical things too. Otherwise it's a museum or art gallery collection and not a wearable wardrobe.

      Ikr! Honestly when I saw it on Closet Child I thought it was probably from like 2012 or something but that it would work great in oldschool. Then I found it on lolibrary and was shocked it was actually from 1993!

    your coordinate is so good, and i just wanted to say i love your , uh, setup? idk how to explain it, what i mean is that i love the way ur camera is angled to show your room. you have a lovely looking room! it completely matches your whole “vibe” i guess is how i’d put it. this video reminds me of a photograph, you look like a moving photograph! the way the camera is angled mixed with ur background just made me think of this. sorry if this is an odd thing to compliment, i just couldn’t get over how lovely the setup for this video is (as well as ur coord)

    you are so knowledgeable about this type of aesthetics and fashion sense so i might as well ask it. ive been fascinated with gothic fashion, aesthetics and style as long as i can remember and i'd like to incorporate this into my musical compositions. i realized that you also have your own music compositions so my question is, how can i inspire myself more? how do you get inspiration out of this lolita kind of aesthetics? i'd like to hear about your opinions and advices. maybe a couple of resources would be cool. thanks, have a good time. ( sorry im a total noob, so please bear with me here :) )

    • @CynicalNeoPrincessism

      I'm not sure how much help I'll be tbh, sorry :/ I haven't made any new music myself for ages as I've had a total mental block. I think you can't really force it, if you have a real love and passion for a certain aesthetic or fashion or sound it becomes part of who you are and that will shine through in whatever you create~

    • @Sam-ty8rl
      @Sam-ty8rl 3 года назад

      @@CynicalNeoPrincessism i agree, you cannot force such a thing into existence, it basically has to be a part of who you are. i really, really adore the visual side of this fashion sense but when it comes to the sound and music side of it, i don't know anything. i'd like to immerse myself with such music if there exists any. so let me rephrase my question (assuming that there are music bands which utilise these aesthetics), which song or band would you recommend? not particularly asking for your favourite music or anything but rather a general direction in which i can see these types of clothes and colors etc. i think i can find my way from there onwards, learning and analysing the musical structure and such. thanks!

    • @CynicalNeoPrincessism
      @CynicalNeoPrincessism  3 года назад

      @@Sam-ty8rl Ohhh, okay. Some music artists/bands that wear lolita are Moon Kana, Nana Kitade, Kokusyoku Sumire, Malice Mizer and Moi Dix Moi, Bonjour Suzuki (and also myself lol). You'll notice there isn't really a set sound like there is with goth, it's basically just whatever music the artist/band wants to make and they happen to wear lolita fashion~

      @@CynicalNeoPrincessism thanks for the recommendations, i'll be checking them out. i listened to some subset of your music, and i have to say, it indeed felt interesting to me. it was pleasent. there were some flavours which intrigued me and piqued my musical interests, so great job on them. thanks, have a great time.
