I was surprised this unit was equipped with mud tires ( I assume this unit gets used in all sorts of terrain types ) given the plan for off roading in sand. What was the over all thought of those tires in sand as it seemed like you've been able to motor right along.
It was a product of cost and size. The guys had this set of tires laying around and they are a good size despite being the wrong tread pattern. I like the size for sand (tall and skinny so they make a nice long footprint when aired down, but aren't too wide), these are also pretty mile Mud Terrains so they don't dig as bad as some in the sand. They did really well. Still wish BFG made the KO2 in 255/85r16.
@@SaltySunriseSailing I expect the more lucrative market is the "new improved" low profile sidewall designed for 1 ton trucks to ensure they can safely float across a large paved Walmart parking lot without issue and help display the latest in 22" or larger blingading wheels .... but practical outback tires like your seeking is so .... "practical" !

I think terrain tamer have parabolic designs lined up on the things to do list.
Parabolics on the 40 would make the long days offroad so plush!

pls explain the carnet de passage bit forTunisia???
No Carnet. Just a temp import permit. Very cheap and easy. Anyone can take their truck to Tunisia. Just bring the ownership docs. 👍
@@SaltySunriseSailing Thanks, maybe will bump into you in the SwissAlps

3 days in the dunes for 5 gallons...damn. Meanwhile in 1fz land - 3 trips to the store for 5 gallons.
Right! The 12ht is the mileage king of what I've used so far. The 1HDT has been above 20mpg if we drive carefully. Still... $9 a gallon here. 😣
