We also see Northallerton Town Hall: A beautiful Victorian building completed in 1863, it now houses a museum and art gallery.
Further along we visit Porch House: One of the oldest buildings in Northallerton, Porch House was built in 1584. It's a timber-framed building with a fascinating history, even welcoming King Charles I as a guest in 1641.

Wow that takes me back, I left Northallerton in 1973, thanks for the walk. Many of the old shops have gone now but a few remain. The Butchers that you filmed was once owned by my brother in law's father and grandfather. My sister got married in the methodist chapel but there is a lot more to see especially the adjoining villages. Thanks once again Neil.
A vary good video of NORTHALLERTON | Tour of Northallerton Yorkshire👍👍

Thanks, heading there in a few weeks.
Have fun!
We went here about 3 years ago very nice town
One of our favourite places to spend a few hours in when we visit North Yorkshire. Lots of great shops. And no lineup at Betty’s today! 🥰 🇨🇦
First time I've seen a Betty's without a queue!
I’ve never seen queues at the Northallerton one. Barkers has 3 cafes which are very popular so a lot of people prefer those. The one on the top floor of Barkers is huge !
@@TheNOGGS Good to know! Thanks
@@TheNOGGSthere's often queues at Betty's 😊 especially market days
First time I've seen Bettys with an apostrophe as the building has none. Is there a suggestion that Betty actually exists? 🤔
ظباب وأجواء منعشة والجميع نشط 🌸🌹💚
I lived in northallerton north Yorkshire age 11years old 26years old, my late father used to be bank manager for Nat west bank.
Great stuff
Such a lovely place
I too went to the Applegarth and then onto Northallerton Grammar. Lived there until 1977 , my parents remained until their deaths . Dad was in the local police force and later did calligraphy, one of his works hangs in Countyhall .
when i were there it were 50p a OX SANDWICH.....a must.XXX
They have a market twice a week Wednesday & Saturday.
The old police station is a restaurant
I"d love to see it in summer on market day
Behind the shops a car park called " applegarth " it has a primary school
Eeeh! I do that walk most weeks. It’s usually warmer though.up one side and down the other. Ah live local see!
I went in the summer - much much more crowded then - and more noise 😂.
ha ha yes I try and avoid that if I can 🤣
One of the richest towns in the country along with West Malling in Kent !
The U.K. had many small charming cities/towns, but the question I always ask myself is, why the lack of trees? Sure most have very nice parkland however in this age of ecology playing such an important role in our lives it seems ridiculous that there hasn’t been a real effort for tree planting in the streets, some of course are too narrow but many are not.
May bank holiday the fair comes to town
Bet that's great! Is it in the square?
@@GimbalWalkTVNo it’s in the High Street
Groves toy shop has been there for a long time
Looks like a good old traditional toy shop
Not many of those left now
We used to see the prisoners walking back from the allotments, they would sell things
What kind of things would they sell? Like Vegetables?
@@GimbalWalkTV yes,
The train station is walking distance to the town.
Ah didn't know that - I should have walked there!
@@GimbalWalkTV also the council officers are near it.
@@heathermurray9939you mean County Hall by the Station.
Yes
The secondary schools are split into 2 .
Northallerton has 2 villages " Brompton " " Romaby " romaby has the dairy.
Barkers shoe shop has been there for a long time
The shoes in there looked very expensive - I had a quick nosey in the window
@@GimbalWalkTV it is expensive,
Have you been to settle & giggleswick north Yorkshire, giggleswick has a boarding school, it has its own church with a green dome.
Barkers is called ‘the Harrods of the North’! You also missed showing Lewis & Cooper by the Town Hall which is a popular food shop people love. You missed out a bit by crossing over too soon!
@@TheNOGGS Lewis and coppers is lovely.
Wonderful and informative vlog. Always enjoy watching content to do with England, but honestly, not one of the prettiest places, dull, ugly, not a bit of greenery in sight. Definitely wouldn't go out of my way to visit. If this is an attractive town, hate to see what an unattractive location would look like!
Everywhere looks grim in winter to be fair
This weekend's videos on the channel will definitely be more up your street though!
5pm each day
@@GimbalWalkTV thanks, look forward to it.
Rishi Sunak is the MP! It does look nicer in better weather and there’s a lot more to it than shown!
There are 2 long time butcher's
