    What would be the functional assessment version of UE? Combing hair? Cutting vegetables?

    What sort of functional tests for the upper limb would you do?

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  2 года назад

      Lots and depends on what the patient has problems with. But for example the apley scratch test (video on our channel) can give you lots of info as a quick test

    Hi Physiotutors.
    In regards to full & partial amputees not being in your scope of practice, can you refer a new student to where/how to learn more information on that special population? I love the videos as they are beneficial for rehab after someone like myself and other limb salvage saving patients after cancer. However, the information is so limited & I've chosen to pursue this but just starting out am unsure of where to seek the information appropriate to the specific needs. Any advice?

      Sorry, like already mentioned it's not really our scope of practice which is why we also do not have specific resources. We'd start with pubmed.com

      You basically want to see how a patient is performing activities that he feels limited in

    0:27 what does he mean by "quality of movement"?

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  6 лет назад +6

      How well the movement can be performed, for example: Is it smooth, weight distributed equally on both legs, good balance, compensatory strategies, quick/slow, do hands have to be used etc.?

    can a massage therapist conduct functional assessments?

    • @jun1319
      @jun1319 4 месяца назад

      No, massage therapists cannot conduct functional assessments. Only physiotherapists with professional knowledge can perform the initial assessment

    What is fucntional assessment ? why do we need in our clinical practice ??? please explain

    • @Physiotutors
      @Physiotutors  6 лет назад +4

      It's explained in the video. If your patient reports that he has problems with getting up from a chair or walking or whatever you would want to examined how they perform those exercises to look for compensation, akward movement patterns etc.
