At the time of recording legions software didn't have full mapping support. Could only map buttons to buttons. Agree that now you don't need handheld companion. However handheld companion is pretty good for those occasions when your controller doesn't work outside of steam
It was the first chiaki I found had used it on the deck and thought it was deck only but turns out it isn't. Weirdly after a little while of using it successfully microsoft defender kicked in saying the exe was a trojon. So I've used chiaki 2.2.0 (which didn't work with hardware acceleration for decoding) and then a fork by dolphin78 I think that does support hardware decoding and that's the one I use. Installation process pretty similar for all of them (unsurprisingly)
@willeymunda my personal preference is the dolphin78 version. Fairly similar installation. Available here (scroll down to the bottom of the page and there is a link to releases github.com/dolphin78/chiaki-builds
I have one. All I’ll say is it would need something ridiculous like a 100 watt battery just to match the battery life the steam deck oled has. Thing lasts 45 minutes
Sir, after downloading and installing the Handheld companion software, my lenovo buttons not working anymore.. how can I fix it and make it works again 😢
Mine allows me to use the lenovo buttons but one of them pops up the xbox game bar as well. Go in to handheld controller on thr controller menu and where it shows the controller underneath should show a drop down with connected and emulated xbox 360 next to it. Set it to disconnected for now and see if lenovo buttons work
@@HandheldGamingFan yes it works now , can you make a video only to explain how to make the buttons work on chiaki please, as there no video regards it on youtube .. if you gonna make it, please make part of it a quick and direct to the point, and the other half part with details for whoever wants it in details
@@HandheldGamingFanI tried swiping in Ghost of Tsushima for wind reveal and it's no working. I can only switch to focus mode (You can do it with Legion Go touchpad also).
@@HandheldGamingFan Yes, but how to activate guiding wind in GoT? This is only action doesn't work with any key. I wonder which keyboard button responds for that in the pc version of the game. Maybe it should work with Legion Go controller profile. But I can't find answer anywhere 😡
@slawomirkubicz ah right, yeah it probably can't map all of them. I think for ghosts of tsushima I'd try one of 2 things. 1 Bluetooth a ps5 controller and try that, otherwise connect it via a cable.
Maybe this is something someone in the comments have ran into and found a solution - I started installing the handheld companion until it was taking 2+ hours to complete. Then I saw a pop up prompting me to restart the device, which I did, now I’m stuck on the login screen of the device, my mouse and keyboard are unresponsive. The touch screen is not working and I can’t log in. I’ve tried doing a force restart and no luck. Does any have a resolution??
@PD_JACKSON1 if you have an external keyboard plugged in, can you hit f8 on start up (tap it as soon as you turn on device). If this gets you thr option to start up in safe mode then choose that. Then perhaps see about removing handheld companion, and reinstalling or just a lid using it.
@@HandheldGamingFan thanks a lot, it worked! Soon as I connected the device to my desktop setup/Dell Dongle, I was magically able to use the touchscreen to log in, didn’t even need to go into safe mode. Thanks a lot!
Hey what do you think about Windows 10 or 11, which one gives you better fps, ik ppl throw down windows 11 but it's easier to use, and the UI looks better, I've looked at videos of them two compaired and some games windows 10 did better and other games windows 11 did better, I'm just gonna ask your opinion
I don't think it's worth downgrading to windows 10, so if a device comes with windows 11 installed I'm not going to worry about it. There are a lot of things you can do to help with performance, I turn off memory protection, I stop as many unnecessary services as I can, as at the end of the day windows has a lot of unnecessary things running in case you want to do something that is unlikely if all you do is game. Also I think everyone tries to hate on windows coz it's not a console like experience, but I can startup and be in a game quick enough and am used to handling driver and bios updates. Thing is if people hate windows so much might be a good idea not to buy a windows based gaming device :) whoops I've gone off on a bit of a rant :)
Do I have to be near my ps5 for this to work? Like if I bought a go out of town and no where near my ps5 can i still use this? Or have to set it up at home first?
You can have this work remotely, but it requires opening up ports and port forwarding on your router -which could potentially make it easier for someone external to get access to your network and devices. Google chiaki and port forwarding, there should be a guide out there
@Jay-oe2od it does, you can get it to work outside of your network, but I was unable to show this in the video, as everyone's router was different and didn't want to potentially set things up wrong and potentially leave viewers networks vulnerable.
Try adding chiaki to steam as a game and enable steam input for it. Alternatively try downloading handheld companion which has a virtual controller and helps with controller issues outside of steam. (Although when playing steam games you may have to disable the virtual controller in handheld companion to avoid double input)
Rest mode is so you can wake the ps5 up from chiaki4deck. In chiaki, choose your ps5 and I'd I remember correctly it will prompt to wake up the ps5 and then you will control it through chiaki
Upon first install its only configured for same network. You can configure it so you can access it externally but may require you opening up ports on your router that may have security implications. Google chiaki port forwarding, should give you an idea of how tricky it may be
@jayofficial8894 if you don't have a ps5 you can stream from x box or pc if you own them, or you can subscribe to streaming services like geforce now to stream games, unfortunately certain playstation games won't be available to stream
Thanks for this saved me money instead of buying a PSPortal 😄
Psportal been out of stock for so long saved me from buying one as well :)
You can skip Handheld companion software and remap Y1 and Y2 in Legion software. No need to download more bloatware 8:59

@JohnVespucci-kg5jo when streaming I set the custom tdp down to 7w. This allows hours of gameplay.

Which key are you using for the PS-button to go back to the menus playing a game? Can't find it...
So is there any other way to make this work now that flipscreen site is down?
Not an easy way. Found this video requires downloading python and running a script ruclips.net/video/r4SCISGYPUc/видео.htmlsi=dX6lxau4e7nOrO4A
Any chance you could do a video for wu long I’m having trouble running the game maybe you could find a good set up love vids
I don't own that game but will see if I have access to it through gamepass.

I think on chiaki4deck you swipe the screen in various places to simulate touch pad swipes.

why use Chiaki4Deck vs the official Playstation Remote Play app for PC?
Slightly better support for the touchpad than the official playstation app.
I have no idea why, but chiaki4deck works smoother and looks clearer than the native PlayStation app and the standard chiaki.

It does need a decent connection, I think if you can stream 1080p content from the likes of netflix no problem then that's probably good enough.
