I am in Cebu now, for the first time, in IT Park. I am here for vacation. (I am from the U.S.) I went to Ayala Terrace and I was looking for you everywhere! Haha. Your interviews and videos really helped me with my journey to the Philippines, so thank you so much! I am here for another week, but will definitely come back to the Philippines in thr future. Some things I like are: Nice people, "movie star status" because I am a foreigner, and the food is amazing here and super cheap compared to the U.S.. Some things I dislike are :"movie star status" because I am a little shy (I like it too though, haha), the children beggars (very sad, but I am told not to give to them or they will use the money for something bad or ask again the next day), I live in TX, so I am used to the heat, but it is very humid here.
Thanks so much for all your informative videos Alex and I wish you and your channel the best!

The advice I would give to first timers is to be patient. You are no longer in the west, so don't expect snappy service. They are operating on island time, and on islands, no one is in a rush to do anything quickly.

Philippines is a very poor and underdeveloped country. According to the world bank, 37% of the population still live in slums as of 2020. With a gdp per capita (PPP) of 11420 in 2023, which is only half of the world average of 22226, making it one of the poorest countries in the world.
Most filipinos are scammers and criminals. The crime rate is very high. The intentional homicide rate is at 6.46 per 100k population which is the highest in South East Asia. If you plan to visit South East Asia, Philippines is the place where the chances are the highest to be murdered.
The currency is weak and the minimum wage is only 300 USD. Foreigners from first world countries can fully take advantage of the weak currency. Also since filipinos are very poorly educated, there is abundance of this cheap labour all throughout the country.
The national dish of the Philippines is called "pagpag." It's made by refrying chicken bones that have been collected from the trash. Since the majority of the people in the Philippines live in slums and lack education, a lot of them have to find discarded bones in restaurants, refry them, and eat them.

    Great interview! Thank you Alex!
I had a very negative experience helping children in the Philippines and I must tell you about it.
Although it's all in my videos.
At the beginning of the development of my channel, I decided to just buy the children playing basketball near my house,
new ball and told my subscribers about it.
They sent me money, I bought the ball and gave it to the children.
He released a video about it with 5,000 views.
What was my surprise and disappointment,
when one of the subscribers wrote that I was probably interested in children sexually !!!
    Now if I help children,
I never show it on video and I don’t ask for help from subscribers.
This is such a sad story.
I have three adult children, a daughter and two sons, they all work in Germany as refugees.
Adoptive daughter, I raised her from 1 year to 25 and I never even thought about what the subscriber wrote!

I'm glad you allowed people to be candid about the good and bad side of living in the Philippines especially the retired Canadian teacher. Some RUclipsrs like to share only the good sides making the Philippines look like heaven on earth. And some foreigners feel like it's not nice to say bad things about the Philippines. I just think people should be honest and not sugar coat the truth. Even the most developed countries have their bad areas. The Philippines have very friendly as well as very dangerous people and places just like every country. It's wise to stay away from questionable places and people.

I am a Filipina living in the Philippines. Just like anywhere else in the world, there are pros and cons to living here.
If you like the quiet and simple life, find a province like Dumaguete or Bukidnon or Bohol. Try to vacation with friends/family and see how you like it. If you dont, no loss because its just a vacation.
If you like the hustle and bustle of the city, try Cebu, BGC or Davao. Try it and stay at a location other than a hotel. Maybe a fully furnished apartment and see how it fits the life you want to live.
The Phils will not be for everybody. And whatever you reap, you sow. If you genuinely want to connect with people, you will. But if you dont, dont be surprised if people, dont really care for you. A genuine desire to connect carries with it the willingness to adjust.
Enjoy the Philippines!. For sure, talking with people is easier here than neighboring.countries..

You are crazy. Most towns & cities in USA put most of the world to shame. I don’t hang in the hoods, but I have seen some from HWY 95 & those people still have a better quality of life than 90% of the world’s population. The problem I see is their minds is in bondage.

the thing i wonder is we hear a lot of people go to live in the philippines and said the cost of living is cheaper etc but the salary is less too so why and how people who go to the philippines for living always said they live very comfortably they can buy or construct big house easily etc like Jamal said have a business but how people find the idea to do something that work very well and all the paper to do etc it seems so easy when i listen to them but if i think it for me in my perspective it seems sooo hard

no one realizes it it seems,, but the food is the reason they healthier more stable (the concentrated fats and sugars carnists eat in rich countries is the reason we soo madly inflamed and list is insanely huge,, im specificly OBSESSIvly interested in that specific domain,, because it is WAYYY OVER 80% of all health issues,
animal protein IS NOT HEALTHY AND NEVER WILL BE,, requires FORCED YOU to have TMAO molecules producing bacteria to be able to digest that sugar,, vegans dont have those and are more persistent for couple time even once eaten by cheating,, witch like all drugs i dont recommend any saturated fats they are very addictive,, once vegan its the oils the worse enemy,, and sugar after or fatty nuts/seeds omega6 too high inflamatory reacts with the fruits and or starches depending on how you eat,, just dont fall into the fat diets bull shit
WFPB is the BEST DIET IN THE WORLD (wfpb doctors) (after its probably wfpb raw,,, (brooke goldner and many others i dont dare mention because others im less sure ,, brian clemet for exemple brenda davis unclear,, up to you figuring witch ones make more sense

The full underground subways are under construction and will open in few years. This will enhance connectivity with ease soon.
