    As a Housekeeper there is no way I would expect the Submarine attachment to suction up dust and debris as it mops. This is not (IMO) a con of the new Dyson Submarine unit. A thorough vacuum prior to mopping a floor with any form of mop is the only way to clean a floor.

      I agree with you 100% percent, this review misses the point on the Dyson V15 Detect Submarine, entirely.
      I had a Dyson V15 detect and upgraded to the Submarine since most of my house's flooring is tile and I must say it was worth the cost of upgrading, we always Vacuum before mopping anyway, so the results we get from the V15 Submarine are exceptionally good.

    I got one of these for christmas , I have old 2" hardwood floors throughout and it was a real easy way to get a mop fast and easy. it did about half of my main floor 600 square feet or so and i went over a few places twice. not as good as on hands an knees scrubbing with a cloth but that can take hours. cleaning it was ok , kind of a hassle and kind of gross. I found the roller took 24 hours to dry and ended up standing it up over a floor vent. I'll make a little dry rack for it once ive found a spot for all these new accessories.

    from what i understand, when the submarine attatchment is on, it is strictly a mop, no vacuming is done, thats why the debri isnt being picked up well. lets be honest youre more than likely going to vacum first and then mop, so this isnt really a problem

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  Год назад +2

      Indeed, that is true.
      Though at least for me if I'm using a wet dry vacuum I expect it to be mop and vacuum at the same time. That's the standard approach for virtually every wet dry vacuum we've tested to date.

    We have a four year old daughter who loves cooking, which means quite a lot of cleaning of the kitchen floor. Usually I do it with a wet cloth, but i am hoping that the Submarine will make it easier and faster... (I might even be able to convince her to do it??? Am I too optimistic...?) Anyway, I now just have to decide where to order it from as I hear Dyson's customer services are not the best...

    So confused why he's using a mop attachment to pick up cereal 😂 change the head to something that actually uses suction 🤷‍♂️ its a mop head, its for mopping. Vacuum first, then mop, you know like what normal people do. 😂 I do like the review tho, very informative.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  Год назад +2

      Dyson called this a wet dry vacuum. Wet dry vacuums pickup wet and dry debris.
      Every other wet dry on the market we've tested is able to pickup cereal.
      No reason this doesn't shouldn't be able to do the same.

    Calls the wet mop attachment "mediocre" because it doesn't suck very hard, If only there were another attachment that was purpose built to handle that task.

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  Год назад

      Dyson is marketing this product as a "wet and dry vacuum"
      Wet dry vacuums use suction to remove both wet and dry debris.
      Every other major brand marketing a wet dry vacuum understands that. Dyson is the only one out of step with the industry.

    • @Omfghellokitty
      @Omfghellokitty Год назад

      I understand your point. I'd just suggest that when giving your rating to give caveats such as "This may not be a problem if.." or "If you don't mind.." then this may not be an issue. Makes it sound like you've really thought you reasoning.@@ModernCastle

    • @ModernCastle
      @ModernCastle  Год назад +1

      @@Omfghellokitty I think we just disagree on the performance here.
      If I thought there were reasonable caveats I would have said as much. But this attachment is mediocre by any definition, whether we hold it to the same standard as other wet dry vacuums or simply look at it like you would a mop. In both cases, this attachment isn't a strong performer, in my view.

    • @Omfghellokitty
      @Omfghellokitty Год назад

      There for sure are some caveats to its less than comparable full body mopping capabilities, such as its overall size, weight, and its ease of handling. Which might be points of interest to another person if they don't mind simply switching attachments if needed. Without a doubt its additional cost to performance isn't great as you could get a $200 range floor robot to do the same job automated. I do acknowledge that you assert this is your subjective opinion at the end@@ModernCastle

    Dyson is basically selling the same products with different attachments. In my opinion this isn't worth it. I have a Dyson V11, V10, and a Tineco for wet mopping. Maybe they're trying to combine everything into one product but this isn't it. Awesome review tho!

      Yep, I think you're 100% right. They just keep making the same vacuum...which is a great machine!
      But a wet dry vacuum really needs a purpose built design. Roborock's Dyad, Eufy MACH v1, Ilife Easine, and the Shark HydroVac are well ahead of this as far as true wet dry vacs go.

      @@ModernCastle It's great as long as you know it's limitations, it doesn't transition over carpets so all the floors you want mopped have to be continuous. The app is needed to get the most out of it as it offers a lot more options. It doesn't dock automatically but does return to the place you started it from. It only does mopping so the area should be vacuumed first. It is super quiet when running.

    I think Dyson submarine is trash and too expensive. I have it and I will keep using it because my return time expired but it is not worth it. As a vacuum, it is great but as a wet mop hydrovac, it sucks. First, it will take you forever, you have to vacuum first and what is the point in moping already clean floors. I had shark hydrovac in the past and i liked it more but it stoped working after 2 months ( clean water tank empty error - very common). If it didn't have that issue i would have probably kept shark hydrovac cordless. Dyson submarine does not have an auto button, so you have to hold the start button the whole time, so for older people or younger children it might be hard to use. Also, it is very streaky, doesn't pick up hair or any debris whatsoever. The worst thing is that after using Dyson submarine, I use shark steamer, and the pads still come out dirty so dyson submarine doesn't mop very well. I wish i can post the pisture of my shark steamer pads after moping with dyson.....not so clean. But....I have a little baby that is crawling everywhere so I will keep it because my return time expired (only one month so not buying things from Dyson anymore neither) . Honestly, I would have dyson as a vacuum but something else as a hydrovac.
