When my parents were dating, my dad was ordering chicken parm at every restaurant he brought my mom to. My mom's mindset at the time was "I hope these dates aren't too expensive for him, I'm going to order on the cheap 1/2 of the menu" (since chicken parm was one of the cheapest items on the menu at those restaurants). Turned out, it wasn't a money issue - dad just really likes chicken parm. But now the mindset of some of these women is the opposite - to milk as much money as possible out of these men with no thought to how it affects these men financially or mentally.
He did it with kindness and grace too... more than I have. She'd be waking home while I got some Cheesecake Factory alone if somehow I waited an hour for her... which I probably wouldn't have.
If you see the interview they did. He comes off as very weak willed. Maybe because he's soft spoken but I get the idea she only is upset about the cheesecake factory because he isn't the type she normally dates so she expected fancier to offset that. One aspect of this story that didn't get much publicity... he actually made a reservation at a DIFFERENT place, but had to cancel because SHE was an hour late. Once that got canceled, he had to scramble to find a place, so it's not like CF was his 1st choice.

I had a first date that was a lot like this. Ironically it was a dinner-and-a-movie date. She kept me waiting outside for so long that I had to buy a second pair of movie tickets for a different show time. I took it all in stride, adjusted all the reservations, paid for everything, opened doors, and so on. And at the end of the evening she still had the temerity to chastise me for not presenting her with a bouquet of flowers. The movie we went to was “How to Lose a Guy…” 😆True story. I had an experience with a girl like this when I was around 19 or 20. She wasn't a gold digger, but she was extremely bratty though. I rolled over and took it the first few times we hung out but eventually I stood up for myself and just left. She was flabbergasted and even started crying; it was like she couldn't even believe that someone might have that reaction. A few years ago, I had a nice date with a Colombian woman in NYC, and I was late for it. HOWEVER! However, as soon as I knew that the NJ Turnpike went down the dumper, I texted her to let her know. Moreover, I kept her appraised of my progress; I texted her when I got to the GW Bridge, and again when I was on her street a few minutes away. She waited, and I appreciated that. I would NOT have expected her to wait if I didn't let her know what was up though. We had a nice date after that too. The only reason things ended with her was I got a job in the Midwest, and I had to move away. However, I gather that this wasn't the case; she didn't give him any kind of notice. That's just wrong. I had a date I took to a pre-season footbal game. The game ended due to heavy rain. We were in the top tier and the water came up to our knees. We had a hour and a half drive home. This was a great date because we laughed all the way home. Actually it was one of the best dates I ever had.

My mom's mindset at the time was "I hope these dates aren't too expensive for him, I'm going to order on the cheap 1/2 of the menu" (since chicken parm was one of the cheapest items on the menu at those restaurants). Turned out, it wasn't a money issue - dad just really likes chicken parm. But now the mindset of some of these women is the opposite - to milk as much money as possible out of these men with no thought to how it affects these men financially or mentally.

I had an experience with a girl like this when I was around 19 or 20. She wasn't a gold digger, but she was extremely bratty though. I rolled over and took it the first few times we hung out but eventually I stood up for myself and just left. She was flabbergasted and even started crying; it was like she couldn't even believe that someone might have that reaction. One of the best learning experiences I ever had... another friend of mine flew down to see her 15 or so year later without consulting me first, unfortunately, and it went about as well as one might imagine: brought along her parents to dinner, ordered the most expensive items on the menu, and then after having implied that she was sexually interested in him for weeks, "allowed" him to go down on her and then rolled over and went to bed. A few years ago, I had a nice date with a Colombian woman in NYC, and I was late for it. HOWEVER! However, as soon as I knew that the NJ Turnpike went down the dumper, I texted her to let her know. Moreover, I kept her appraised of my progress; I texted her when I got to the GW Bridge, and again when I was on her street a few minutes away. She waited, and I appreciated that. I would NOT have expected her to wait if I didn't let her know what was up though. We had a nice date after that too. The only reason things ended with her was I got a job in the Midwest, and I had to move away.

I agree, this is not the norm, but this is becoming the norm. There's a lot of women feeling "entitled" to royal treatment, there's a lot of men entitlement as well. This is the result of dating apps, instagram, OF, and all those social network apps that have changed the mindset of a lot of people, I don't see this going backwards but just the opposite, unfortunately. Personally, as a very successful person, dating 6 figure+ men. I dont even want to go on a date at a restaurant with them. I only go for a walk with them just to get to know them, after couple weeks when Im comfortable with them we can go to a restaurant. That way they get to know me, we both know that we like each other & men feel comfortable enough to ask about where you want to be taken

I had a date I took to a pre-season footbal game. The game ended due to heavy rain. We were in the top tier and the water came up to our knees. We had a hour and a half drive home. This was a great date because we laughed all the way home. Actually it was one of the best dates I ever had.
