Hey everyone, please show Stez some love... ruclips.net/video/s1liBUloPJg/видео.html
Hey bro, if you're interested in buying, I have 2 spare Ps4. 1 works normal (but fan is loud, always was since day 1), and the other needs a new HDMI port, and I melted /soldered 2 caps together that will need to be replaced or fixed. I also have an Xbox 1 s that also works perfectly fine. I no longer use them, and interested in selling them since I have a Xbox Series X, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and a super nice Gaming PC. I'll give you a really fair price
Got the switch just for Zelda, PS5 & series x for exclusives, and gaming PC for my normal gaming. 🤪 good times
Hugs to Dave the bug 😂
Perfect timing, mate. I was looking for something to watch :)
Good stuff buddy, glad to help lol
Love Stez life would be crap without Stez
Love this!
I've yet to do an HDMI port, but I think I like this approach the best. Heat from the bottom, them clean and add fresh solder then reheat the bottom and set the chip in.... solder all 4 ground legs at once and then tack in the pins on the topside!
Question, if you may be so gracious!
I bought an Xbox Series X off ebay broken. It's throwing me for a bit of a loop here....
The unit boots, and will play just fine... some random amount of time (though not usually too long... a few min, longest ever was about 10 or 15 min) and then it shuts down completely. Just cuts off. No error codes. Once it does that, it will not boot again unless I remove the power plug from the unit and replace it.
It doesn't seem to be getting too hot, not all that warm at all...
The seller stated they tried another power supply already, and that it did the same thing with both power supplies.....
Any ideas? Could it still be the power supply? Failing APU? Faulty mosfet driver?
Yeah the heat and drop method is the best way on these especially because sadly the way the ports are means if you try and solder the ground legs after dropping the port in means you won't quite get enough solder to make contact with the legs. Unfortunately the board is a couple of mm too thick for the ports (with no alternative ports available either).
With your issue it sounds to me like something is throwing the psu into protection mode. It sounds like the psu is doing its' job in terms of surge and short protection but it might be hard to figure that one out. One thing you'd need to take into account is the resistance of certain components in certain circumstances, such as the ESR (equivalent series resistance) of the power phases. Thermal expansion occurs when circuits get warm and resistance changes as things heat up and cool down, so if a circuit component is heating up too much because of a partial short, or something like that, it could cause the psu to kick into protection mode and not resolve itself until that circuit becomes either cool enough to stabilise itself, or until the specific circuit has all the power drained out of the bypass capacitors (which can take several minutes sometimes).
Personally I've never come across that, but that would be my best guess as to what's happening. If that were me I'd reject the job because results can be too inconsistent to fault find in a timely manner, but other than that if I had no choice, I'd probably be running it with a thermal camera recording continuously to see exactly what happens heat wise when it shuts down.
Sorry I can't be of more help here
@@TheCod3r No worries, and thanks for the advice!
The puzzling thing to me is that once it shuts down, it can sit 24 hours... and it still won't power up until the power cord is removed and reinserted.
So it can sit for a full day, plugged into the wall, and won't turn back on.
But if it shuts off, and I pull the power plug immediately and plug it back in, it will boot up.
I really want to blame one of the mosfet drivers here.. but I don't know enough about those to know if it makes sense for it to be "partially" failed. I'd think for a mosfet anyway, it'd either be failed or good. Especially because of the fact that the console can sit in a "failed" mode for a full day, and not power back on... but WILL power back on if I remove the power plug and give it another go immediately.
What a doozie for my first Series X attempt. Thankfully I'm not in it for all that much. So if I can't fix it, the parts alone will get me most of the money back out of it.
I actually thought of the sticker idea, just haven't seen one up close yet. The sticker i mean . I also just did this same repair, with a cheapo hot air station, and light use of my hakko iron. What a battle it was. Success in the end.
Little late but good job mate!
Dr. PS-5 working on an X-Box; a man of all seasons.
Haha thanks bud
I think pointing labels like you mentioned may have some legal hurdles to worry about. Especially in the USA, sue everyone for everything.
Another victory, well done!
Cheers bud
Another nice fix Phil 🙂. Just received some sd reader mainboard connectors for the OG switch I’ve been working on because it had some deformation from previous user damage causing intermittent SD read errors. Got it replaced but getting that “SD is in 1 bit mode” message sometimes on hekate. Ugh, I hate those connectors. Then while trying to touch up the pins on it my iron, outside my microscope view, had touched the backlight connector from the angle I had it at to get at the pins and melted the flipper tab. It still works but looks like hell and doesn’t close all of the way. 🤦🏼♂️ 😆 Getting more needed microsoldering experience I guess but now going to get a bit more when I replace that backlight connector and probably redo the sd reader connector as well 😅. Eventually this might actually be a sellable console lol.
Ouch lol, yeah sucks when that happens mate, I've done that myself a few times lol. Don't worry, it'll work out in the end and the practice is invaluable too 😄
i had the livestream in te background while working on minecraft modded, nice ambient
Cheers mate
Good job as always Phil......
Not bad for a pommy mate
Haha cheers pal
@TheCod3r you got great content mate, I would mind knowing the shit you do that's for sure.... I am in Australia so gdady mate hahahah bogan as.
I attempted an HDMI repair but now the series X powers up for about a second with a white light and turns off. Is it likely I've bridged it? I'll have another go if it's something like that.
I lost tube of chipquik flux two years ago. It always bothered me as it was a full fresh tube. Anyway the wife getting ready one day asked if I could pass a makeup bag over to her as she was getting ready night out. As I did so I noticed my tube of flux almost empty sat inside her makeup bag. I pulled it out and asked about it. Why she had it and what been doing with it? Seems she thought it was for putting on her lips in cold weather prevent chapped lips. That’s a true story. Said she liked the taste and smell of it better than her usual go to and that she liked the idea of it being in a “baby syringe” 😳✌️👍🇬🇧
I love the sticker removal trick! now I gotta try it
Works a treat mate. Low air temp just to soften the adhesive 😄
Quick & easy
Hey man how much do you charge for this very same repair
You could always make a sticker ( repair by ..company name .. date fixed with the s/number
My Xbox one x has just died 😢 it’s turns on but no hdmi signal on tv
Did you heat the HDMI port AT 480 Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Ello mate been watching u for a while now and I could do with your help buddy do you know any thing about canon 650d cameras that won’t turn on
I have the same problem on my Xbox one x but sadly it still lays unfixed to this day
Do you know what is component 4629-GA2R18 in a PS3 fan mini board?
I repair my series X and i cant do it 4k only appears 1440, its hdmi problem?
est filter
Seems to me that flux is a bit thicker and the "applicator" isn't precise enough like Kingbo is.
Yeah seems that way mate, maybe it's just because I'm not used to it
What usually happens when a console get hit by lightening? Is it worth buying?
It depends on the issue it has mate, if it's no display it could be worth buying but would likely need at least a hdmi ic replacement
@@TheCod3r ok ill look and see how much the HDMI IC are. Thanks mate. Love what you do.
Hello Phill, greetings to you. Who will support Morocco or France in world cup ? Be honest, please. I am Moroccan
I have vinyl printer Phil, but need a thermal printer before cut it in vinyl
I think it could be a good little side hustle for someone if they could print those stickers. If I wanted to sell a console I'd happily pay £10 for a replacement sticker if it was good quality
Not a FIFA fuq er yeah lol. Nice easy start to the day but that flux is a bit shite
Haha yep, probably just me not being used to it though
I invite you to Islam
