Sheer adrenaline "go"-mode is the same neurological experience, or very nearly, as fight-or-flight survival panic. It's really not surprising that, combined with the sheer awesome/awful power of weather, your brain latched onto storms as very exciting. Weather is cool, and you have a pretty strong couple past stresses/traumas about it.
Although the way you get excited over it has changed, the intrigue and interest in it I think is good. Weather and general meteorology can be a passion without being disrespectful to those who are affected by it. In fact, it's the people who are passionate about it that most-benefit the general population. Even though you were excited, you were also doing what you could to alert people. I'm sure you'd make a damn fine meteorologist, if that's what you wanna pursue. Also, bummer that ya had to cancel going to VidCon. If you go next year, I'll keep an eye out for ya.
I myself am a weather geek. I hate being in storms, but love studying them. I lived through April 27th as well, I really didn’t get into storms a few years after April. Weird how something scares you into being fascinated by it.
I liked these videos you put out about the weather. Thats basically how I became interested in Weather and stuff. We had a tornado outbreak on April 14-16 of 2011. It was bad enough we left our home to go to one of my family members home. Now I turned my interest into a hobby on my channel. But good work man! Love the animations!
I get kind of excited when storms fire up here because PA doesn't get these types of storms most of the times, so when thunderstorms or A SUPERCELL only one forms, then its exciting. I've never seen a wall cloud, nor a funnel cloud. The coolest thing I've seen is mammatus
I like weather too, I’m excited and scared when a tornado warning comes on cuz I’m ready for what happens. My friends discuss it too with me, and we have a whole plan for what happens.
As u might now, all the year sixes are going to their new schools and I've just seen my friends for the last time, cos they're going to nunthorpe and I'm going to kings :(. But then you uploaded this. Thanks for cheering me up a bit!
0:19 that noise haunts me to this day, it was the last thing I heard before the lights went off, and the house shook with sound of glass breaking and things being ripped off the ground
thanks for making these videos and educating us, i'm not a huge weather geek, but i constantly check my weather apps and read articles to educate me. my area doesnt have too many tornadoes, but its still really interesting. i dont even recall hearing about these, but im glad i know now.
I love these videos! I'm a weather geek as well; been one since 5th grade. I just think hurricanes and tornadoes are so beautiful, I even had a radar in my hands during Hurricane Irma and I was just PINNED to my grandma's window!
Honestly, this is probably the most entertaining animator on RUclips, and I’m not being being biased.(because I’m a weather geek). If I had the funds I’d buy all of your merchandise.
Jesus there’s a huge thunderstorm forming as I’m watching this series,, also I love your story!! It’s truly inspiring to see someone turn fear into knowledge.
I remember that day. I was near the border of slight and moderate and we didn’t even get rain. But then yesterday almost everyone in AL (and people in surrounding states) got hit by a long lived Severe Warned Bow Echo. Hope you’re okay, I know a lot of people lost power.
I had this same sort of situation with Irma of 2017. It was predicted to hit New Jersey directly as a category 4, which would be BY FAR the worst New Jersey storm in recorded history. Much worse than Sandy. I wasn’t as excited as I was shocked. 2 weeks later Well that’s not how it turned out, was it? It ended up hitting almost the entire Caribbean and eventually cut straight through Florida. It was an absolute catastrophe. It hit 11 countries, caused more than $65B in damage, and took 134 lives. And I always think, what if I was in the family of one of those 134 people? What if my house was destroyed? We really dodged a bullet, and to the people who didn’t, prayers and thoughts for you. And I also donated to the red cross several times to give back
Yeah I can absolutely relate to all of this because I'm an extreme weather nerd. The worst I've been through was a funnel cloud that went right over my house (it's on my channel) and we were under a enhanced with a hatched tornado risk, and when I saw that thing above me I was just like, Oh... I've been expecting you... Also I know that stormy feel, it's like nothing you've ever felt and you just know stuffs about to flip.
another important lesson about tornadoes is to keep everyone, family and friends, safe as possible. tornadoes are one of the most dangerous things out there, and it is important to not just worry about yourself, but to think about other members in your family, or sometimes friends.
@@ItalianCountryball11Damn, I left this comment a year ago. That’s crazy to think about. Yeah, I was fine. The hurricane barely hit us. It ended up being more of tropical storm.
My school let out early on March 19th. I don't think spring break had started just yet. The southern storm died before it hit and the northern storm went a lot north of my house. Sky looked really nasty when we got out at about 12:30.
Back in February, SC (my state) got a bunch of Hurricane things. I was a weather geek for a month, watching everything to come. Nothing happened to me. I was upstate, thankfully. But there were many things bad that happened. I try not to remember it.
When I heard the alarm at the beginning I thought it was the purge alarm and started FREAKING OUT...turns out I only thought that because my volume was down.
At 7:07, the top left picture, I was in that moderate risk just east of Louisville KY and guess what, not much happened, I was just only a strong storm and that's it
This is all suuupppeerrr scary. I watched all of the tornado videos of yours. Hope everyone is soon okay. My prayers go to everyone who has been, is, or will be in a disaster and might die or have died.
I remember this like it was yesterday. It was about 5 miles away from us I was about 9 at the time and I was HORRIFIED of tornados and the sirens. They were going off I keep running up stairs checking the weather and I was afraid that it would hit my Aunt. But then it got even worse, Of course it did because WHY NOT! There was hail, thunder, rain was pouring, and to make everything worse the power went off. And then I looked out the window and the sky was turning green. I was at my Grandparents at the time so we all went to the basement till it was clear. The next day we drove around the town and around the lake and it was pretty bad. Power lines were down, trees, trees on houses, and the town was not destroyed completely but there was lots of sticks and branches on the houses it was scary.
If you want to be excited about weather, just do snowstorms. I guess Alabama isn't the best place for that, but in NC, Ill be sitting there a week out looking at all of the models before the possibility of a snowstorm, and do nearly nothing but that, and other things I have to do.

Back during Hurricane Harvey, there were so many rain bands that hit my area that had tornadoes that I was in my home's "shelter" for a few days.
