I recognised the rout to ‘Ben Nevis’ the accent is spectacular, was there about forty years ago, with snow ❄️ the vistas are breathtaking! You have gone that extra mile again Steve, that walk to Steall Falls and back looked treacherous, but the sight of the falls was stunning 🤩 and worth risking you neck for! not sure about that hideous tight rope contraption spanning the river!! that’s a bridge too far I fear 😧 as for the Hotel Cell room, phew! no way! looking forward to part 2. you are now our own Scottish (Braveheart) without a doubt! “👌” 🤗
Loved that video, what a difference in the weather, typical Scottish day. Paths were mental. Loved the hotel you stayed in, I booked in there before but had to cancel due to COVID..grrrr. keep up the great work.
Risking life and limb for our entertainment. Your narration is beyond compare. You keep me laughing! Thank you for all that you go through for us. That waterfall is gorgeous! Love your accommodations. Be well, stay safe, and warm, love from Texas.

What a day Steve. You must have been frozen 🥶 Fantastic shots of the hills and waterfalls. Great to look back on once your back at your digs for the night. 😴
Greetings Steve, Great video and a great memory trip for Bertha and me. On our first Scotland trip we drove to where you parked and walked the same path. We had blue skies and great weather. I did cross the three wire bridge. While I was out bouncing around Bertha remembered I had the car keys. A new travel rule was born: When Jim is going to do something stupid, Bertha gets the car keys. Cheers and again thanks, Jim.
Enjoyed our walk today, Steve. My heart was in my throat a few times on the narrow, what looked like ledges with steep drops on the side . Beautiful scenery. 🇨🇦
Nice video Steve, glad you ventured out despite the weather. Steall Falls is my favourite short walk anywhere in the world. Definitely the most bang for your buck, and the wire bridge isn't as bad as it looks :)
Oh so brave doing that walk up there in those conditions Steve! but loved it. What a stunning waterfall. Worth the effort. I'm not surprised you didn't want to tackle the bridge; eeeeek. That was so funny, the police cell. Hope you had a good night's sleep. Yes, binge watching again 🙂
Wow, absolutely magnificent! Stunning views, but that walking path terrified me. It would be better in summer but there’s never a guarantee that it wouldn’t rain and be treacherous. You do the hiking for us! The police station repurposing is very clever. The “cell” was charming. I have to wonder what people got up to in Fort William that required so many cells 😂.
Was there yesterday, 11th January 2023. Your video gave me the confidence to go on up! I had to walk out from Fort William Travelodge; there and back on foot was about 7 hours.
Steve, I truly enjoy going with you virtually on your explorations. And this one was magnificent. I was reminded of my small group walking tour in the Outer Hebrides a few years back. We also had some treacherous walks in drech weather. However, I also felt a bit fearful for you being out there alone. I'd feel damn badly if something went wrong. I'd be a little less concerned if someone else went with you on explorations like this one. Stay safe.
That had me shivering just watching it! You just know if you'd have continued the weather would have got worse not better. A night in the cells (and a wee dram or two) hopefully sorted you out!
Along a treacherous path in a hoolie with our Steve, that's certainly an adventure! Then he ends up in a cell! Glen Nevis is amazing, but can be quite midgy in summer. I wonder where Steve is going in part 2.
Brings back good memories..😊 Although I had to walk the entire glen and back....with no blue skyand proper snow. Had a great time..😊 Did get to attend a wedding at the Ben Nevis Inn though! I'm no stranger to a night in the cells....😲tmi?! Lovely wee video and glad you liked it.🙂
@@steve-marsh The walk was spectacular, the journey also. The brushes with the law are from a misspent youth! Except Sweden...we never mention Sweden.....!
Thx man we went to scotland almost 15 years ago and we kinda stumbled upon that carpark and walked up to the waterfall. I remember the toursists with italian loafers having to turn around halfway for obvious reasons (like the scottish will warm you for nothing...) Couldn't remember where it was but your video made it clear it was this one recognized the sign warning for the proper shoes, we both looked at each other and said that should be fun. Thx for the video, now I can sleep again knowing which waterfall it was.😊
Great video as ever Steve. Some friends and I spent a week in Fort William ten years ago and after tackling Ben Nevis we were looking for something else to do so decided on Steall Falls. It was indeed a lovely walk but this was in August and we were (very foolishly) unprepared for the midges. Nightmare! I ended up with them all over any exposed skin and in my hair. I remember rinsing my hair in the stream just to get some relief. Fabulous place though. Keep up the good work Steve. I know the travel restrictions over the last couple of years have curtailed some of your international trips but I’ve particularly enjoyed the Scottish ones so thanks for those.
Braving the wintery elements, fear's no rain, standing tall in the wind, who could that person be out there on the cold, wet, slippery trail. No other than Steve! This was a clever way to captivate the audience. A 'Part One'. Brilliant! I could stare at that waterfall for hours and hours. Mesmerizing and relaxing. Focusing on the falling water just takes all the stress away. The rocky trail looked somewhat difficult from the perspective the hiker needs to watch where they are walking. A good workout for sure. Jail cell for accommodations. That would work too. Take Care!
Frank - I'm amazed I got through hat weekend without falling over :) Totally agree about the waterfall - had the weather been a bit more favourable I'd have walked across right underneath it. Maybe not so relaxing up close eh?!
Fort William's on the "would love to see" list already - as you say for the location - but I don't think I fancy trying that cable bridge, even in better weather! Cute looking little B&B though, hope we get to find out how both the "B"s were in the morning!
I think that has to be some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Always have a calling to return to Scotland. The weather only adds to the scenery but then I'm watching it from a warm dry living room!

Thanks for showing us that walk in winter. You really need to do it again during autumn. The orange grasses and the raindrops on the silver birch trees make it a magical experience.
One of my favourite places for views in the UK. Fort William may not be much but the surrounding views! I had a friend who lived just above Fort William in Banavie and her view of the Ben was spectacular. One of her sons is a mountain rescuer so she had a soft spot for the mountain. I wanted to see the Ben because I come from a tiny nation of two islands called St. Kitts and Nevis.

That was an excellent video, Steve. I liked your sharp photography on such a dull day. I hope you will return when the weather is better as it certainly is a beautiful spot for a walk. I liked your accomodation for the night.
About 50 years ago I drove via Fort William and the Glen Nevis to Gairloch coming from Rotterdam and those times you didn't have internet and much less information. If I had known this all, I had stopped there and took a few days to invest. So I'm glad you showed this to me. Thanks Steve!!
This was stunning, but certainly won't be trying it lol.you look frozen Steve bet you'll be glad to be home. Glad you found somewhere to stay . Thanks again Steve.
The snow covered mountain tops is beautiful. Not the right weather to make such a walk. Glad you got to see the falls. Get back to the van and get warm.
What a beautiful walk. Mind that weather was definitely testing you for sure. Well done. Really enjoyed that. Oh and cell 9 is where myself and my buddy stayed at the end of our West Highland Way adventure last September. And there was 2 of us in there with bruised and battered feet. 💗🥾
So glad you took the trouble to check out how Steall is pronounced, well done to you! It means a 'gush', 'scoosh' a downpour of water. A nicely constructed video, and great presentation.
Spectacular. I see what they mean about all the Elf and Safety. That falls would have been a seriously holy site for our ancient ancestors. Water was a really big deal 5,000 years ago and I wonder if there are offerings buried in the silt nearby.
Lived up in Fort William in the late 80's and the digs looked right onto Ben Nevis, wee place called Caol, in your video right at 0:43 is a decent Hotel on the right hand side, can just see the car park for it on the right of the roundabout, can't mind it's name but cleaned it a few times back in 2007 when I worked for Rentokil, nice food and decent bar etc. Nevis Range is good Steve, catches a lot of people out that go on the chair lift with T-shirts etc on then when you get out at the top it's mega cold with snow about. I might of been in that very Cell when I was younger but that's another story lol. Fort William for me was fast becoming like an episode of the Twilight Zone but I was young and daft and was successfully rehabilitated. Massive Thanks again fella.
Oh my goodness - that cell at the end!!! Thank you for persevering with the weather Steve and showing us such a magnificent waterfall. I've driven a few miles along Glen Nevis and I have pictures of my dog playing in the river, but I've never driven till the road peters out. It was so nice to see it again.
In my back garden again , lol .... great place to jump on your MTB and go clear the cobwebbs too ....... even stayed in the cells to , adjacent to the building I worked in for 41 years lol ( Telephone Exchange ). Town was a great place 50 years ago , it's all about the mountains and glens .....
Lovely video Steve, I never thought that you'd actually get "banged up" on one of your adventures! There's some wild weather forecast to be coming your way this week, take care!
@@steve-marsh We had our visit from "Eunice" on Friday which was quite an experience. Thankfully no structural damage I can see but fences are down all over the place, and I had to go out at the height of the storm to rescue a "Wheelie bin". I think you had less wind but heavy snow further North.
I did that walk one Sunday last august after driving over from Perth awaiting to pitch up at Glen Nevis campsite I arrived about 8am and got the last parking spot it was rammed solid, am hoping to do the walk from corrour to the campsite later this year. I love the Glen Nevis but like you say Fort William isn’t the most attractive town but plenty of outdoor shops and places to shop, eat and drink with plenty of long distance walks within easy reach, whw, ehw, ggw and cwt to name but 4.

What a beautiful walk. Mind that weather was definitely testing you for sure. Well done. Really enjoyed that. Oh and cell 9 is where myself and my buddy stayed at the end of our West Highland Way adventure last September. And there was 2 of us in there with bruised and battered feet. 💗🥾
Haha what a reward for such an epic achievement! :D
Looks like a great walk for Summer time, but didn't stop you. Another lovely virtual walk with you, thanks 😊
Thanks for coming along Helen!
Your instinct for survival is spot on. With that intense wind a cable bridge is NOT a good idea.
I think if I tried to cross the bridge, this video may never have been made! :)
Well done Steve for braving the weather, definitely need to do that soon, stunning 😎🏴
Cheers Douglas!
Really interesting vid with amazing views 👍👍
Great video Steve, I really enjoyed it! That hotel looks, um, comfy too lol Can't wait to see more.
I need to get arrested more often eh!?
So glad you took the trouble to check out how Steall is pronounced, well done to you! It means a 'gush', 'scoosh' a downpour of water. A nicely constructed video, and great presentation.
Cheers Mark! I hope I gave it a good shot :) And cheers for the info!
Spectacular. I see what they mean about all the Elf and Safety.
That falls would have been a seriously holy site for our ancient ancestors.
Water was a really big deal 5,000 years ago and I wonder if there are offerings buried in the silt nearby.
Oh good point Abraham! Of course I never even considered it!
Haha great comment! Oh and btw - Caol is where I parked up for a sleep the night before!
That was great 😊 watched from my cosy shelter indoors 🤣
Haha lucky you! My jacket is still wet! :)
Thanks Sue! Ahhh heaven for dogs along that glen :)
buzzing to see another great video and excited for the next one :)
Cheers! It was a fun but wild weekend! :)
I was last up falls walk 30 years ago. Thanks for taking us up there again with a spot of weather on!! Keep 'em coming. Stay safe.
Cheers! Stunning place eh? In ANY weather :)
@@steve-marsh Absolutely!
Excellent Steve. Most enjoyable.
Cheers Chris!
Thanks for this - charming manner, and interesting and inspirational for a possible visit!
Thanks so much for coming along Philip!
In my back garden again , lol .... great place to jump on your MTB and go clear the cobwebbs too ....... even stayed in the cells to , adjacent to the building I worked in for 41 years lol ( Telephone Exchange ). Town was a great place 50 years ago , it's all about the mountains and glens .....
epic little adventure that for taking us along
Thanks so much for coming along :)
Lovely video Steve, I never thought that you'd actually get "banged up" on one of your adventures! There's some wild weather forecast to be coming your way this week, take care!
If all cells are like that I'm quite happy :) Yeah, sitting here just now watching some pretty wild weather out the window!
@@steve-marsh We had our visit from "Eunice" on Friday which was quite an experience. Thankfully no structural damage I can see but fences are down all over the place, and I had to go out at the height of the storm to rescue a "Wheelie bin". I think you had less wind but heavy snow further North.
Fabulous video Steve. You are so brave doing that walk in the first place but in those conditions argh… thank you for sharing your adventure. ❤️x
Thanks Judy! I'd driven so far to get there, nothing was holding me back! :)
Fancy that Corrour walk myself mate!
@@steve-marsh I’ve done a lot of walks around rannoch moor and corrour such a great area, I’d recommend Loch Ossian circuit especially if the sun is out or the walk from rannoch station to corrour station as looking back over your shoulder the whole of rannoch moor is below you.
Every time when I'm in Fort William,I have to do this walk . I've been doing it since I was 7 years old .
Enjoyed this video, what a view on the mountains, it did look cold, and damp,
It was a challenge to film on that day for sure! Even just getting out the van was a thought :D
Absolutely beautiful winter walk! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching! Much appreciated :)
It certainly looked pretty coorse on your wee walk. You're a braver man than me even if you did chicken out of your comfy van for the cell. I bet that cell had a few stories to tell.
Another cracking video Steve. Well Done Again. V.G. 10/10
Great word 'coorse' (even if my laptop keeps trying to change it - nae idea!
Again another cracking video Steve. Keep it up you will be able to give up work soon and live off your work here. Here’s looking forward to your next instalment
Cheers for all your support Robbie! Part Two just released now :)
Great video again, Steve. You picked a good day for it! Lol.
Haha my luck! It was such a long drive to get there there was no WAY I was not making this :D
Thanks Steve. A great walk to tackle next time we're in Scotland :-)
Oh I wish you better weather - apparently it's a great place for a picnic and a wee swim in summer!
Nice one Steve, a wee bit chilly & so wet but the scenery was stunning, well done. Cheers Marilyn from Melbourne, now visiting your beautiful country 😀
I hope you're having a lovely time despite this weather!!!! :)
WOW!, those falls are stunning, I envy you living in such amazing surrounds such jaw dropping beauty even if it is pouring with rain, thank you so much and I am eagerly awaiting your next instalment. Take care and stay safe, cheers.
Cheers Simon! It sure was a wild walk but well worth it :)
