They dropped a new video today, a Dire straits cover of brother in arms. It's a 5 part harmony, Rupp sings. Tim takes a deep bass lead. Oh and the person who sang Mayday originally was Cam, she is a country artist.
"Mayday" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Cam for her second studio album Untamed (2015). The song was written with Tyler Johnson, who also produced the track with Jeff Bhasker and Zachary Werner. "Mayday" is a country pop song about a sinking relationship, built around a hook evoking a mayday call.
I hope you guys buckeld in for this one. They sang this in the same key as Cam did. Tim and Chamce switched rolls in this Anytime Tim has the lead Chance is on the bass and they like to switch back and forth on the bass part and have hit us several times with a double bass part. Can't wait for you to do Brothers in Arms released today.
Cover Me Up, I Can’t Outrun You, and Yours are excellent ones that have Chance as the lead for the whole song. He has such a warm, rich baritone/bass tone that is gorgeous.
They released a new video today, “Brothers In Arms”, a Dire Straits cover. It’s my favorite on their “Land of the Free” album. The 2 basses are front and center.
Dudes. “Moonshine” by HomeFree will show off more of their skill. I love when they have a chance to trade off vocal parts. “Hunter Hayes Medley” is older but you get to hear Adam transition through the songs. Did not know about the lighter trick. Edge of a counter as close to a trick I ever tried. I was better at flicking bottle caps. Oh, to be young again. Thanks for keeping up with HomeFree. I know you say some of us just love the vocals…. But take Lane from Voiceplay. Classic Trained Violinist, Singer until taking over as beatboxer. And understanding they should be making videos learns about cameras and video Productions. To see these skills, check out Voiceplay “Warrior” which I believe he also arranged. These vocal group members are multitalented. And aside from writing and arranging, many play instruments (guitar/violin/cello, Piano/Keyboard, Trumpet, etc). Their talent is just plain refreshing. Each group found their niche and their joy and they seem to be able to be themselves without selling out or being some kind of gimmick or fake to fit into the idea of mainstream. It’s more than just vocals. BUT because I enjoy your reactions and camaraderie, I do check out some of the other stuff. Just saying…
Great reaction, the original was done by Cam, but you know that already 😉. Home Free's secret weapons are not only Adam Rupp, but also that they have 5 tenors and 2 bass's, and they can all "beatbox" to some extent. I also enjoy the fact that the focus is on the song.
I'm so glad you waited. Your reaction was perfect! It's amazing what Tim can do with his 5+ octave range and what Chance can do with his 4-octave range. It gives Home free so much versatility. You actually have 5 tenors, 2 baritones, and 2 basses. Oh, I thought you were going to see the guys on Nov 2nd. I spoke to Adam R in UVIP and he said he arranged to get you tickets. He watches and likes you guys.
Hi guys, I am a Voicetave Pentafry ( VoicePlay, Voctave, Pentatonix, Home Free ). I also love Jelly. Thank you for all your work, love to see you dumbstruck & you always brighten my mornings (Aussie time difference). I am also probably one of your older subscribers (late 50's). May I recommend their Disney Princess Medley. The sopranos will knock you on your arse!
If I remember correctly, the first time Chance flexed his bass muscles with Home Free was when he sang lead in their cover of Sawyer Brown's "Some Girls Do". I highly suggest you check that one out. He was previously the bass for "Street Corner Symphony".
Also Chance was the bass in his last group street corner symphony before joining Home Free. He can do bass. For a Chance solo check out Home Free's Ican't outrun you.
Great reaction. I love this song and have never heard Cam sing it. Didn't even know this song. Well that's it for me for tonight. To be continued after work tomorrow.
Home Free just dropped a new one called "Brothers In Arms." You want to hear Chance go low, this is a good one for that. And also Tim go subwoofer mode. Amazing.
Yeah, we noticed that on our upload too... Strange thing is they seem to drift in and out of stereo/mono, and the video isn't affected?? Definitely something new to us! Haha 😆 sorry guys, we appreciate you sticking through it with us!!
@@307Reacts I know basically zilch about the main issue. But I can definitely assume a reason as to why for the second issue. Good job! You noticed Rupp going crazy. I’ve watched several reactors experiencing this video you guys are the only ones to stop and hit that a second time. He is amazing and needs to be highlighted more often. Thanks!
👆👆👆 it’s on Austin Brown’s channel… them singing in the backyard on microphone with a bass, acoustic guitar and an electric piano. It’s amazing!! Highly recommend this!! 😎👍
Love your reaction! For more Chance lead start with “I Can’t Outrun You “…Chance also directed the video. For more gospel Rob, react to HF live at Hosanna concert 2013,”Joy To the World “. Rob goes full gospel, and the whole arrangement is fantastic…some ‘70’s R&B, some Cab Calloway jazz. It needs more exposure.
The tangents you guys go off on are almost as good as the music. I get so excited when I see you guys have a Home Free reaction up because your reactions are SO WORTH WAITING ON. Thanks a million for your HF reaction. Cheers!
Many years ago, we did a combined choir celebration for ASCAP's 75th(?) Anniversary or something at Washington DC's National Cathedral. We had a dozen or so church choirs from all different denominations singing together. Singing music that was MEANT to be sung in a cathedral was AMAZING. I finally understood why the music had pauses in certain places - you needed them to let the notes reverberate thru the rafters!
Chance is probably my favorite, and you get to hear him shine so rarely. Its one reason I keep rewatching their Sea Shanty video, since he's the lead-in and gets to take lead quite a bit in it.
This is one of my favorites. So glad you waited to react to it. Your surprise at hearing the switch ups in the voices was great. Tim can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. And Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. This song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original.
I saw them live for the first time last week. They put on a great show! Next week they are in WY, UT, and CO. They may not be near you but you might get a chance to see them. Check out their tour and if you can - go! Well worth it.
Chance was originally the bass for Street Corner Symphony when they appeared on The Sing Off. He came into Home Free when Adam Rupp's brother Chris left.
This is why you need to see their earlier songs first before this song , because this does blow your mind , that Tim is singing in his higher register in this song and yes Chance is doing bass on this one
I watched video where Tim and Austin where singing along with Tim's cousin and Tim way high. He basically took Austin's place during the singing. Chance sang bass in his last band.
I am learning a lot about music and vocals by going through vocal coaches and reactors like you two who know something about music and life. You are keeping it real and it is great. Thanks.
The reason why you had to wait is so that you could appreciate the roll reversals! You had to know their normal “roles”. Really enjoyed it!! 😉. New sub!
Hey Matt and Chris, l just subscribed to your channel. I have watched all of your Home Free reactions. I think ya'll are awesome. Thank you for the breakdowns and information you provide us with. Don't worry about the lengthy pauses ya'll have. They just add to the experience.
The original is by Cam, someone I had never heard of before this cover. I did go back and listen to her,, and the song is decent, but the video is rather dumb. I vastly prefer HF’s cover, and I really like how they are feeling those lyrics-thanks for commenting on them!
I hit the like button before you guys even started yes I did! I love this of all of their songs with addition of When A Man Loves A Woman breathtaking and by Austin I do believe. Heartfelt reaction by both of you who really appreciate each one of their gifted vocals! Omg I am typing this and lost my trend of thought 💭 now about this lady who died in your highschool auditorium wth! Hello I am older then your average 18-35 yr old subs and no idea how to open a bottled beer without a bottle opener - sure looks like Matt has that mastered lol. Absolutely love Ronnies capturing of Matt’s reaction there in that replay! On to the next one 307 💯🇺🇸
Ground breaking isn't mind blowing? I just love watching you discover things you never expected. There are three groups that I listen to absolutely everything they do and many others that I'll listen to the songs/music that speaks to me. Groups I listen to? Home Free, Nickleback and The Moody Blues. Yeah, I know. Three very different sounds, but for some reason their music strikes a chord and resonates. I liked the original done by Cam, but the Home Free version just had something special. There is just something about the Home Free talents that makes things better. There have been a few songs Home Free has done that I never care for or even absolutely hated. I may not like the original or other covers, but the Home Free version just makes them more than they were. Am I making sense? Well done, guys. Really. One of these days I'm afraid one of you is going to fall off your chair. You know who I'm talking about. Don't you? Matt.
Thank you for waiting to do this one, it means so much more when you wait and get how much more important the vocals are in it. Also thanks for connecting with the lyrics of the song, it is so connected to most relationships.
This was the very first video of you guys that I watched, and I'll be completely honest . . . . the 'I can't believe it's not butter' line was 95% of the reason I subbed. Lmao, gets me every time.
I am soo glad that you got to this one. I love your reaction of how they switched it up a bit. Also I would love to hear your reaction to their song Snow Globe. I believe it's an original. Tim kills it
If you want to hear more of Chance singing bass, he used to sign bass for a group named street corner symphony. Their cover of madness makes pretty good use of his bass
Guys... do me a favor. Give your ladies a hug each from mama bwar. Tell them I said thank you for keeping you guys in a good head space. You guys are a major part of my sanity (it's been a rough couple of years), and your personalities remind me of a couple of people I've lost. You make me smile. Side track, I remember sitting in the back of a bus on the way home with friends, and we decided to do a quick run through of the songs we were performing. We didn't realize that we were projecting so loud til the bus driver asked us what else we knew...lol. said it was one of his best shifts. Hugs from Newfoundland.
Pentatonix needs to do what Home Free did....part ways from SME, do their own thing and hire a distribution company to handle that part of the business...they get to keep more of the proceeds as well! You can hear more of Tim and Austin in "My Maria". Chance used to be the bass in his previous group...and he covers bass whenever Tim has the lead. They both have incredible ranges and Adam killed the percussion in this....
Austin Brown is the High Tenor. Rob Lundquist is the Low Tenor, Adam Chance is the Baritone, Tim Foust is the Bass and Adam Rupp is the Beat Boxer but when he does sing he is a Tenor. All of them have practiced to the point that they have extended their ranges to a crazy degree, especially Tim, who can cover 8 Octaves. He coached Austin Brown to sing lower and Austin hurt himself trying to hit the low notes. He helps and encourages Adam Chance to sing both lower and higher to stretch his range.
Isn’t this a great song! Home Free is such a superb group. Your reaction was great too! By the way, I’m one of your non-typical fans, over seventy. And love your channel (at last for Home Free) because I’m addicted to them.
"I almost ran over a turkey today" And Matt doesn't even bat an eyelash. This is a mark of real friendship! You can be super weird around the other person and they act like it's a normal Tuesday. Y'all are so much fun to watch, thanks for the video. #thanksronnie #sendtruckparts #sendparts #307reacts #homefries #homefree
Late to this reaction. BUT this is exactly why us Home Fries recommend waiting to react to "Mayday". I love listening to this song without the video sometimes because there is so much ear candy and sweetness in here. Thanks for reacting to it! Great job!!!
Gotta check our their cover of Dire Strairs Brothers in Arms. It is tremendous. Adam sings and does cool effects. Heavy in bass but BEAUTIFUL stacked harmonies and incredible runs!
If you care about it I would love to see your reaction to Austin and Tim's version of "My Maria". They do it with a few friends and I think it's pretty special
This is a great reaction to such a poignant well done song. I'm with you listening to that "drum set" instead of Austen moment. These guys are all so talented.,🎃❤️
Thank you for a great reaction. It surprised all of us the first time hearing it. I have seen it so many times and I think your reaction was amazing. Thanks again.
Chance does a bit of bass in Man of Constant Sorrow at 1: 04 and more noticeably after Tim's line at 2: 36 "while he is sleeping in his grave". Most who've watched and/or reacted to the song are in such conniptions over Tim's deep voice, that they assume all the bass in the song is done by him. Great reaction, and totally agree with taking time to touch bases with those around you
Great reaction to an amazing song! Home Free never fails to deliver and they dropped a BOMB-shell of a song today with their "Brothers in Arms" Speaking of different genres, I also think you would enjoy anything from Nightwish, typically reactors start with "Ghost Love Score" from Wacken 2013. Keep it up guys!
Good vocals is just one part of why I love Home Free. I also love the way they keep true to the songs and bring the meaning of it into focus. I can't even begin to mention all the songs I've known for decades that they have covered only to actually hear and get the lyrics for the very first time. Or the soul felt emotions of arriving amazement, appreciation and joy that bubbles within me when I hear their harmonies. The amazing arrangements and the caring human beings they are are other things. Lots of people have great vocals, it doesn't mean I will enjoy and like it. PTX for instance are incredibly talented and they all have great voices, but I struggle getting through a full song because I don't like their arrangements and harmonies. It's about their energies, their hearts and souls more than anything, though. In fact, I struggle listening to any other music because nobody else check as many boxes for me as Home Free does. It's quality every inch of the way. Just thought I would mention that. 😁 That said, I love checking out new artists, because how else would I know if I like it. When it comes to relationships it's about accepting that the other party isn't me. They interpret everything in a different way than I do by default, and it's my job to accept and respect that, and even embrace it because it opens up my mind and heart to different views and understanding. Their feelings are their feelings and they have the right to feel whatever they feel. If something I said or did had them react it's not anybody's fault unless I did or said it so they would react, but it is my responsibility to accept and respect their reaction, and to explain my view on it knowing that they will respect and accept me and where I came from. I also find that whenever I'm uncertain about my partner's love for me it's only about me and as soon as I choose to be in my love for him he will show me his love as a ripple effect. Every. Single. Time. It's never about him. It's always about me not being in my love for him. Great reaction to over of my Home Free songs! Thanks! I think it would be fun if you react to their newest release, their cover of Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms, as it's kind of the opposite contrast to this in one particular way that will blow you away. 😁🥰🙏
Adam Chance was the bass singer for the a Capella group Street Corner Symphony before joining Home Free. They competed in NBC's The Singoff Season 2 along with the group On the Rocks who were a group of college singers pulled together by Peter Hollens. Pentatonix competed in Season 3. Home Free and Voiceplay competed in Season 4.
I like Home Free anyway. Pentatonix are really good.....but Home Free is off the chain great!!! That’s why everyone says to get to know them before watching this one. This shows off all their talents. Foust can reach five octaves higher than his lower register. Chance fills in the bass and baritone when Foust is singing lead or in his upper register. But Chance and Foust, one will sing bass and the other baritone and you just may not realize it until you’ve watched them a lot. Some girl named CAM....don’t know who she is.
Thanks for the great reaction. There is a former member of Home Free that you should check out. Chris Rupp does a wonderful video of Amazing Grace and his range is very surprising.
I love how Rob's new nickname is "Overalls" LOL you guys made me laughed out loud there. I love seeing people's reaction at HF's Mayday cover for new viewers. Rob (Overalls, mr. Beard) has done more lead songs in their recent album, notably in Dive Bar Saints. For some good 'ol classic, you guys should listen to Tim Foust's version of "Can't Help Falling In Love". As for some of Chance's lead parts, you should check their cover of "Castle on the Hill" and of course their "Sea Shanty Medley", both Adam will blow your mind on that one.
Mayday is one of my favorites that they do. It's not about checking in to stay close though. It's about letting go of a relationship that is not working. Listen to the words again.
First, I want to recommend a short (61 second) video from a 2015 concert. Look up "Austin Feeing the Bass in His Butt." I love Austin's face when Tim does what he asks. Before Home Free Adam Chance was in another a cappella group called Street Corner Symphony where he was the bass singer. Since Home Free already had a main bass singer and an Adam, Chance usually sings baritone. If you watch their video for House Party, which was before Chris left, you'll see Chance wearing a white bathrobe with a glass of whatever he was drinking in the pocket. His group had been invited there as partygoers, plus he and Jenika Foust were friends beforehand. The only other video I know of where Chris Rupp and Adam Chance are both in is What Child is This by Chris Rupp feat. Home Free. And this time Chance is singing.
I heard their latest "Brothers In Arms" I dropped this comment in their page but, as a veteran, that song hit me in the depths of my feels that I haven't felt in a long time. Memories of friends, brothers and sisters in arms that died on duty as well as from the mental scars of military service. It brought up so many memories that had me reminiscing the good times and the bad. I cried for the first time because of these memories in years. The video itself brought me back to my days as a Ceremonial Guardsman for our base Honor Guard performing funeral details and being given the opportunity to present a folded flag to the next of kin. Its a surreal experience to be in such an emotional situation and you can't express it.
Notice that Adam is simulating a hand clap too. He is much more than a beatboxer. Adam has honed the art of Vocal, air, collosion, and animal Onomatopoeia !!
Chance used to sing bass for Street Corner Symphony (another a capella group). When he joined Home Free, it allowed them a lot more flexibility and freed Tim up to sing more leads.
Tim and Adam Chance both have 5+ octave ranges. The others have more than 3+ octaves. The original is I believe Cam .She is awesome and they sing it in her range.
And THAT is why you were only now ready for this! And: you know you're Home Fries, right? Your explanations of what their music makes you feel is 100% what we all feel! ps: RUN do not walk, and look at the song they just put out, Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms. You will LOVE it!
Check out “can’t out run you” or “like some girl do” for more of Chance’s low range or check out Street Corner Symphony for him being a bassist before he joined Home Free
That’s why everyone wanted you to wait to react to Mayday. You have to know their standard parts to recognize the difference. The original is done by Cam, who is a country female artist. Home Free does it in the same key (and octave) she did the original.
This is what it looks like when Action Bronson and Tom Green become good friends. 😆 Keep up the good work guys, love it!

The thing with these guys is all of their voices are so effortlessly performed.
The original song is done by country singer Cam, and I believe the boys are singing it in the same key as she did!

Excellent ideas. & the Bruce Springsteen song Born in the USA ( some guitar in it too). Love it when Chance gets a 'chance' to shine.
Chance actually has a bass range and sang main bass in another group before joining Home Free- he just sings baritone most of the time because Tim.

Cam is a female country singer, she wrote it and they sang it in her register!

Thanks.
Nothing fake here lol sometimes just full blown ignorance but we are ever learning! So glad we could brighten your day with new knowledge! Much love!
Hell yeah lol thanks for the sub Jamie we appreciate it more than you know!
If you want to download one of their albums from Apple Music or Spotify, I recommend they were album, “timeless deluxe”. It includes the song Mayday.
Tim with his 5 octave range. These guys each have that spark that when put together ignites a frigging huge bonfire.
Guys... do me a favor.
HF Producer: We need three tenors for this song
Tim: Chance you have the bass line
Chance: uh, ok
Adam: ba-dum-tiss
Wait til you hear their newest one! Brothers in Arms! It’s gonna either rock your world or blow your mind - or both! 😍✌🏼
Lol he doesn’t even bat and eye cause we have a real turkey problem in our town lol they get hit like every day 😂
@@307Reacts Well hell, when's season there? LOL
Late to this reaction. BUT this is exactly why us Home Fries recommend waiting to react to "Mayday". I love listening to this song without the video sometimes because there is so much ear candy and sweetness in here. Thanks for reacting to it! Great job!!!
And that is why this is their holy grail! It is sheer perfection! As was your reaction! You just get it (and us crazy Home Fries)😄
🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Good advice! My husband and I just celebrated 40 years together. We check in at least once a day!
Home Free never fails to deliver and they dropped a BOMB-shell of a song today with their "Brothers in Arms"
Speaking of different genres, I also think you would enjoy anything from Nightwish, typically reactors start with "Ghost Love Score" from Wacken 2013.
For a good original, especially with Veterans Day coming up, try Land of the Free.
You should do Home Free's cover of "Cover Me Up". Such a great song and Chance is the lead on it.
Home Free. And this time Chance is singing.
you guys should check out the live version of this song too, they do a really cool breakdown that adds to the song!!
Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust dropped a new video today too: teach your children. It’s beautiful
I love this group! And this is one of my many favorites, they have never disappointed me!!! 💕💕💕
Every time I watch this reaction, the look on your faces is priceless! 😂
That’s why everyone wanted you to wait to react to Mayday. You have to know their standard parts to recognize the difference. The original is done by Cam, who is a country female artist. Home Free does it in the same key (and octave) she did the original.
