Anthony has talked about how Opie's mentally ill mind works. He just fixates on a thought (like how he perceives something) and it warps into something that he thinks really happened
Everyone should follow opie and convince him to do a show and tell him how great he is so he starts up trying hard and then after he does like 5 or 6 real shows and gets traction everyone just stops watching / listening / commenting

Whenever I listen to Opie, I feel my heart rate start to slow and my will to live diminish exponentially.
There's a reason why the show died when Ant was fired. Ant held it up. Obviously Jim too.
But it was the Opie and Anthony show. And Anthony constantly held Opie up. Defending him constantly. Complete battered wife. And it's tragic to think what Ant and Jim would have done on their own.
You could hear the angst and panic in Opie's voice when he intro'd the morning and Anthony was gone for the day. If Opie got fired instead? The show would have clearly went on and then morphed into a popular podcast
It really is one of those scenarios that make you wonder how well it could have played out in a different timeline
I think the show worked best with a host to keep the flow moving, but it should have been someone who was comfortable making millions to play the straight man and sit back and watch
If Opie is saying he's better than Jim and Sam, he's not totally off...

Opie never had the makings of a varsity broadcaster.
Opie is so desperate for a viral video. That's what this is about. His entire self-worth depends on something he himself creates and uploads going viral. So he's putting as many clips as he can out there in the desperate hope that maybe one of them will get more than 5k total views in one month. With all sincerity and honesty, WATP and Compound are the only things keeping Opie at whatever level of relevance he's still at. He's just not a compelling figure in any way, aside from how oblivious and embarrassing he is. Opie would deserve some sympathy. Considering he doesn't have an ounce of humility, he gets none.
He doesn't deserve sympathy. In this video they mention opie being useless since anthony was fired which isn't innacurate; but he may still be at sirius xm today if he didn't stand on a toilet and film over a stall divider and take video and photos of roland campos while he was pooping.
Then he told roland he couldn't promise if he wouldn't post it to social media. It's a federal crime to film someone in a public bathoom, he deserves his shit life.
I’m disappointed that your upcoming WATP NYC show isn’t at Gebhard’s Beer Culture on the Upper West Side. It’s a 5-minute walk from my apartment. They have an outdoor shed you could use for a stage. The Loft at City Winery is nice, too, so congratulations on that.

I fought for him it was a half hearted attempt but I did fight. Then when he was mad at Anthony he said when ant got fired that was my opportunity to move on. In life we get opportunities and I took it. So which is it Opie? And he also kept saying me and ant never talked about continuing the radio show I was thinking we split the show I do mornings and ant does afternoons or vice versa. Saw Jim Norton in Providence on 9/9/22 and he slayed. Incredible show front to back. Not a single mention of the radio show, and only mentioned Chip podcast once because a crowd member yelled out a Tsss Tsss.

I am listening to the all the OA shows from 2005. It was a pretty incredible year: first Ramone promos, first Patrice appearance, Intern Noah 2 (Julia), Bob Kelly Seinfeld story ("not you"), Bernie Goetz radio hour, Master Po's "Party Rock" drop, Rick Delgado's Tsunami song -- and that's just January and February.
Seriously, the one bad thing is Opie. He can't interview someone without immediately making it about him: "You worked with Carlin, I remember when we met Carlin...", "That reminds me of when I was a kid...", etc. EVERY interview just turns into these ridiculous Opie stories and just kills the vibe. Also, the Howard stuff gets old quick. Of course, all this combined with the screaming into the mic even though they knew there were problems with the levels at XM, horrible drops, playing unfunny songs in their entirety (don't even get me started with the banana phone), going to a call when the energy is great and everyone is laughing -- it's bad.
Then the jealousy over Ant's and Jim's relationship kicks in. Whenever the two of them would start riffing and laughing, Opie would just go silent with the occasional sigh. A lot of the time he will only address Ant, which I am sure is some radio thing to build familiarity with the audience, but it just comes off as really weird. Sometimes you don't realize Jim is in the room until someone brings him his coffee. In other words, I think Opie told Jim not to talk for the first half-hour so OA can "do there thing," which was always super forced and awkward.
Last, I can't say enough how funny Ant is here (Jim too, but Ant was just at another level). When they were at mardi gras there was a girl who apparently looked like a crackhead Paris Hilton, and Ant immediately says "Newark Hilton"
Jim and Sam wish they were on opies level...maybe if they keep working hard one day they'll be able to podcast with stray dogs while ticks bite them
