This method works great. I would add, make SURE that the PS belt is aligned correctly on the crank pulley. I would also suggest to pre- position the engine so that you are not fighting the compression stroke.
Just did this little treat of a job this past weekend on 09' Taurus jacked up from the ground Used 10 or so dollar store zip ties. Did not use any spray or lube on the belt. Went on fine as shown here. If anyone decides to DIY make sure to have some extra plastic fasteners on hand for the wheel well. Worst part for me was lugging the jack back to the shed after job. It's one of those Harbor fright heavy as a boat anchor jacks. Nice demo on the installation btw.
Appreciate this video Robert. My 2011 Limited has a tear in it and I can see the metal belt flapping out. It's been making an awful squeak but I thought it was a serpentine or pulley. Hope it can last until this weekend when I can get it on the lift and replace it.

Yup, and I love the water pump inside the engine!!! They are sooooo very smart!! Nice way to make when your pump fails, turns your engine into a boat anchor!!
I would not go that far, but I understand you, cause I fill the same about cars since engineers installed computers , transverse engines,fuel pumps inside the gas tank and sensors everywhere.
Worse belt system. Since there is not a tensioner control bolt ,the belt life always will be in a perils. Cars disigners engineer using too much drugs.
Fords are crap but my wife insists on owning them. After paying well over $1000 to get the water pump changed on this Taurus and now her seeing what a turd this motor is to work on, maybe she’ll get a different make next time. Go get the tool and do it right or you’ll destroy your new belt. You can borrow it for free usually.

ok but how do you expose that part of of the power steering pump pulley's? I checked behind the tire and you can't see the pulley's

Um yah, my zip ties broke and destroyed the first belt. Turns out O'reilly s rents the correct tool for free and it worked like a charm.
