you've single handedly made me an incubus fan without ever listening to a song from them. now science and morning view are heavily in rotation. along with all your work. you're so fuckin good dude
@@Gogeta70 i definitely recognized drive when i listened to it intentionally but I never put any thought into the song before that, didn’t know the name of the song or artist.
You've got to be the most skilled band "impressionist" ever. Your ability to capture styles is alarmingly good. By the way, the obnoxious record scratching had me laughing my ass off. Good on you, sir!
Man... I mean this 100 Percent: This video rekindled my love of Incubus. I was a super fan in my teens. Then Light Grenades happened and I moved on (If that's when you got into Incubus: Great for you! Wasn't for me). This song fills a hole I didn't know was there. Thank you for it!
You hit the nail on the head. I became an Incubus fan when they were touring behind the S.C.I.E.N.C.E. album. Loved them through A Crow Left Of The Murder, but then Light Grenades was released, and that's when I realized Incubus was dead.
Oah, I get that the old school fands despise Love Hurts and Dig, but Light Grenades had some very great tracks. Give Anna Molly, Earth To Bella (Part 1 +2), Rogues, A Kiss To Send Us Off another chance ;)
Great work! You got that Incubus "swing". It's hilarious because Brandon Boyd is annoyingly optimistic. I love it! I caught the voicings. Nice nod to stellar and others!
Was thinking that same thing. I also hear a little bit of Morning View in there both on his clean guitar tone and the more relaxed vocals. Superb job Mac!
since i've only listened to science and morning view so far, this is my only reference point.(i slept on incubus for decades despite having new skin on my playlist since like 2001)
Thank you thank you thank you, for cutting the religious slur. We love this page, and even though its not always clean, those are the one type we cant listen to :) Kudos.
The amount of talent you have to pull all these songs off and perfectly match another bands style and sound is insane to me. I’m currently going through all your videos showing my girlfriend trying to explain to her the skills needed to pull this off. Keep em coming man, just recently discovered you but you have a fan here!
Excuse me.... how did you make this song... a that a lot of us hold dear.... better. I was so so convinced that I was listening to a Incubus song. You went too hard, I love this... so so so much! Please put this on Spotify, I must listen more 💜
Mac just gets it, I could spend hours typing about how he hits all the little nuances of any band/song he covers but most everyone here already knows that, and that's why we appreciate him so much. Keep doing what you do best glocky.
I love when you do Incubus stuff. I used to listen to them in high school 20 years ago, the girl I had a crush on also digged them. She would get a huge kick out of this, it brings up nice memories!
If you like this sound, "Make Yourself" is the album that this song pulled the most influences from, with a little "Morning View" and "Crow Left of The Murder." "Make yourself" is probably their best album overall, in my opinion. If you haven't heard the "Make Yourself" --> "Crow Left of the Murder" Incubus period youre missing out. "Light Grenades" marked a transition to a much cleaner, lighter and "happier pitched" sound they currently have. Also -- a caution about going further back than "Make Yourself." Incubus was a completely different band, clearly on completely different drugs at the time of making "S.C.I.E.N.C.E" and "Fungus Amongus." Its like listening to Sublime Ska Caveman Punk Rock all at the same time -- was kind of a mess early on with no real focus on locking down a sound. There are a few gems, though, with "Vitamin" on "S.C.I.E.N.C.E" being one of my particular favorites. But even though Incubus is probably my favorite band of all time; there is some godawful crap on the first two albums that make them almost not even worth listening to because there was just no musical direction whatsoever. "Make Yourself" is when they really locked it in and got their crap together.
@@jaycue7641 I definitely consider it one of the best single albums ever made -- back in the days when when CD space in your vehicle was at a premium and so it was important to have a disc you could just put in the player or the deck and leave.
@@formdoggie5 Make Yourself + Morning View are their best records. You Can listen to them back to back. Up to this day "pardon me" is such an original and creative song. I can't even wrap my head around it.
As always - well done!!!! At some point I am confident you will get a colab with at least some of the musicians you impeccably emulate! Just throwing this out there - "Pure Imagination" in 10 different styles.
I love the "Echoes" throwback riff, and even more impressive is how spot on your mixing/ and writing, (not to mention the INSANE vocal range/ techniques). Mad respect and admiration all around, this is the level of talent I aspire to possess. thanks for being sick af!!
This dude legit blows me away everytime with how well he absolutely fucking nails the bands sounds !! Iv been listening to a lot of these bands for 25+ years since I was a literal child and he fucking captures their whole sound just in a bottle like it’s easy !!
This is sending chills down my arms and back. This is so... man, you nail a very specific era of any given band so perfectly, and it's so damn impressive.
As a massive Incubus and Slipknot fan this was amazing from the vocals kicking in to the first chord bend. Expertly done on all aspects. But now I thing we need to hear If Slipknot wrote A Certain Shade Of Green
Heck. I get an awesome new incubus song, and it's one of my already favorite songs. I love your videos, they're doubly rewarding. I'm waiting for more of your own songs too. They go straight into my favourites playlist.
The “hey” made it authentic right away.
cant forget those record scratches too lmaooo
Literally.
Came to say this. It was said. Hahaha
Absolutely
found this comment right after hearing it and thinking the same thing :D
I’m now convinced Slipknot inadvertently wrote an Incubus single.
Lol same
It does honestly work better as an Incubus song than a Slipknot song. As a Slipknot fan, it always felt a bit... off. This is how it SHOULD be.
This gives me nostalgia for times that never happened
No BS, the chorus is smoking and the bridge is exactly what I'd think of as Incubus.
Feels like I’m back at 99 listening to make yourself
Facts
All the little "yeeeaheeaahh"s and record scratches make this. Proper Make Yourself era.
The vocals on this are a level above your regular performance
You should really do an entire album as IncYOUbus
IncYOUbus is awesome 😂 he should even name the album like this
Agreed. The Incubus tracks are astonishingly fantastic
His Incubus is the most uncanny for me, I'd love that.
Heart Shaped Box by Incubus was single-worthy!

This was just an Incubus song front to back. You can't convince me this isn't how the song was supposed to be performed! Insane talent.
i, too, now think of this as one of Slipknot's greatest COVERS...
This is spot on, especially with those bended chords. I laughed when I heard the little turn table sample, it's SO Incubus.
The guitar [quick] pitch bend and record scratch you played over it was the most Incubus sounding thing ever...
That was comedy lol
This is like being in another dimension dude, I can’t unhear incubus doing this jam now and it’s incredible
This is just so wildly accurate. If I heard this in the radio I would not question that it was Incubus. Very, very good.
This is way better than slipknot honestly
Imagine this at the end of Make Yourself instead of Out From Under, it makes too much sense.
