No Pun Included really really happy to see Sponsorship from a non board game related space in board game content. THIS is exactly what we need in this hobby. Great job Efka and Elaine. Always found paid previews that publishers have to watch and okay everything in the video a strange conflict of interest but creators also deserve to have a secure financial future from more than just Patreon and donations. Happy and excited to see something “outside” the space of board game reviewing yet could be considered adjacent as skill share has courses such as Editing which could help inspire and teach a new crop of board game reviewers. Truly wonderful. And great review/ game.
For a guy who earlier complained in the video about hard cuts on the audio, that jump into the skillshare ad really caught me off guard :P The hypocrisy runs deep! All joking aside, happy that you guys have some sponsorship and thanks for more great content! Keep up the good work - I love real human, honest, and very personal reviews and really appreciate your efforts to share such depth on both the things that you do and don't like about these games.
A Skillshare sponsorship! The true sign of RUclips professionalism. (That's not snark, in case it reads that way. Pretty much all the pro 'tubers I watch regularly have been sponsored by Skillshare at some point.)
Wow, production quality is soooo good in this one. And the writing, it's just on point, cleverly highlighted by directing. I'm really happy you two just keep improving :)
Holy smokes! I was convinced that no one come come even close to the SU&SD quality of entertaining and informative board game reviews. So glad I found this as you knocked it out of the park! Subbed.
We played this for the first time this weekend. We could play socially distant with our friends. Our first board game night since March! This was a GREAT game. We enjoyed it so much.
On our first game, we rescued John Cena in the middle of the ocean. He was found by the guy who had nightmares about being crushed by a refrigerator, and helped by one whose village was massacred by the terrible torture tactics of... tickling toes. 11/10.
Of note, your friend might be even less pleased as the rules take on an emergent approach in the game. As in, you won't know all of them from the rulebook and the purpose of some other rules won't be clear until you start playing.
Amazing review. This game is absolutely amazing. One of the few games we’ve purchased this year and already played 6 or 7 times. Which is something we really don’t do in such a short time period. Glowing recommendation from me.
great review; thank you E&E. You helped me understand the game, and answered questions I didn't even know I would have. I appreciate the album cover in the video, and wish I were cool enough to recognize it. Well done all around
I like pirate themes for some strange reason and I was on the fence about this game. Your review was a cannonball shot that caused me to fall, although somewhat willingly, to the side of the fence where the game happens to be on sale. Thanks! Oh, and...AAAARRGGHH!!!
I am so happy that it has narration and it’s replayable! I hope the developers keep making more event books! Whenever I play, it’s like my friends and I are in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie!
Hi Efka and Elaine, did you do a review of Seafall? It looked like it in the opening shots of this video, but I couldn't find it. I would love what to hear what you have to say about that particular game...
My copy is on the way from Miniature Market. Why do I want it? 1) Pirates! 2) App based, so lots of music, sound effects, and even voice actor narration!! I look forward to more and more games using programs for context sensitive music. Sure you can play background music, but apps play the music when it's appropriate.
Narrative driven co-op games are generally my least preferred genre, but Forgotten Waters is just absolutely fantastic 🙌🏻 So much fun, we laugh from beginning to end!
Free houseplant advice: Buy a peace lily. Wait for it to wilt a little. Water it. Repeat. This will teach you how often to water MOST indoor plants in YOUR house. Now you can buy other plants. The most common cause of indoor plant death is watering too frequently. Clay pots sometimes mitigate this. Also... Never transplant a plant into a pot that is more than 2 inches bigger than the last one. And make sure there's drainage.
Great production value, fair review, good stuff. Personally, edges over too far towards narrative to me, where'd I'd rather play a TTRPG, but the voice overs make it much better than other story games I've played. But I'm also not huge into pirates, so maybe this one just isn't for me.
I think you guys have surpassed Su&SD this year. Not saying you are competitive, but while they have slowed down, your style and editing has only gotten better.
Fantastic stuff, really pleased to hear that Plaid Hat has hit upon another game who’s pleasure of play over balances a wonky system or rules 🙂 It was very disconcerting to hear the PS Access Friday Feature music near the start of this review 😆
I paused and now I'm worried about your health. I love this game. My favorite part is through an adventure and a bunch of dolphins are chiding each other about being too religious. Its such good humor.
While I am sure the app works and offers more than a physical version of a physical copy of the stories I would prefer a physical copy. Though I might still get this game...
Are they ever gonna make an expansion for this game ? ..Been having it since may.. played every scenario and since then there r no news about making a new expansion or at least ONE new scenario !!!! Like srsly...Its a shame cus me and my friends enjoyed it so much but ....still..:(
'You'll be so battered, you might as well change your name to chip shop sausage.' is a line that should be written down in history as an example of genius in action. For non-UK residents, follow this link www.dailyedge.ie/battered-sausage-food-porn-2701460-Apr2016/
Hi, i'm still confused. Is it worth the buy? What games are similar (so i can judge based off if i like/disliked those...) *please consider posting an update!
Efka, you thought you could all infect use with a Shania Twain song, but no! It's the Saftey dance, cause your friends don't play, and if they don't play, well they're no friends of mine.
A great game! I love the narration, writing and sillyness, but the difficulty level of some of the scenarios is indeed a bit off. You barely have any time to explore around, while exploration is the part we enjoyed most. I think that if the treat levels were a bit more lenient it would be even more fun!
Seems kind of reminiscent of Tales of Arabian Nights, a game I found to be extremely tedious. Of course, that game didn’t really have any kind of cohesive narrative.
Played the first 3 scenarios and really enjoyed them. Played the 4th twice and lost both times after 2-3 turns/pages with no way to mitigate the loss. 5 people say around the table repeating the same page over and over again until we lost. Then same thing happened again. Wondering if anyone else had a similar experience
Nice American accent! To make it perfect, you have to pronounce the "th" in "three". It can't be "free". Also in "by-law", the American accent says "law" with a very elongated sound. You actually have to open your mouth quite wide to make the American "law" sound versus the British one.
P-IRATE? That, sir, is most definitely an included pun! What about this channel's very name - does nothing in the world make sense anymore!?!?! Bahhh, forget it... Get me a swig 'o' grog - I've got a cannonball to ride!
I also really disliked Dead of Winter. I felt the game decisions were not interesting at all. Each time I played, I was not the traitor, but was also not in a position where I could achieve my personal goal, so I stopped caring and became bored. One time, I got fanged on my first action.
I'm sorry but that's not a good "bad" American accent. If you want to annoy Americans, you gotta do over-the-top Southern, or Boston, or NYC. Anywhere else won't do much.
I also dislike this game (sold it after finishing the suggested first scenario). Unlike most it seems, I did not like the voice acting or story. It was too much forced "piratey" comedy and too goofy for me. Neither my wife nor 9 year old son cared for it and he likes just about everything we play. I know the video blasts people that complain about mechanics in what I suppose is meant to be a goofy game, but why not good mechanics and good story? I especially hated the constellation idea.

These boardgame review are so high quality, I'm having Hard time on watching other reviews anymore
This and “Shut up & sit down” are my favs
Holy smokes! I was convinced that no one come come even close to the SU&SD quality of entertaining and informative board game reviews.

11/10.
Ooh, this will drive my "must read all the rules to completion" friend nuts, and it will delight his "start playing and learn as we go" wife.
Of note, your friend might be even less pleased as the rules take on an emergent approach in the game. As in, you won't know all of them from the rulebook and the purpose of some other rules won't be clear until you start playing.
I am both the first type of person, and the second type of person.
Amazing review. This game is absolutely amazing. One of the few games we’ve purchased this year and already played 6 or 7 times. Which is something we really don’t do in such a short time period. Glowing recommendation from me.
A culinary pirate is one who kicks his enemies because his hands and knives are for cooking, obviously!
"I'm just a cook"
Never mind the nosebleeds; it’s just comic relief.
great review; thank you E&E. You helped me understand the game, and answered questions I didn't even know I would have. I appreciate the album cover in the video, and wish I were cool enough to recognize it. Well done all around
Blunderbuss by Jack White.
I like pirate themes for some strange reason and I was on the fence about this game. Your review was a cannonball shot that caused me to fall, although somewhat willingly, to the side of the fence where the game happens to be on sale. Thanks! Oh, and...AAAARRGGHH!!!

I demand more Efka in 1940s American Business Man accent.
It was far better than most Americans who try cockney accents
Hi Efka and Elaine, did you do a review of Seafall? It looked like it in the opening shots of this video, but I couldn't find it. I would love what to hear what you have to say about that particular game...
Its amazing what they did with this game and the crossroads system evolution.
I just love that copy of Blunderbuss sitting there behind.
To be fair, “Jeff Kornberg” is a pretty dumb name.
This review was unwatchable since it wasn't in 4k at 1 percent speed and RUclips doesn't allow me to fix it. Sigh.
No dumber then the name I selected which was Boaty Mcboatface the 3rd.
I'm a fan of your editing. Nice, dry humor!
8:57 - 9:21. And there is nothing else to be said about a game ever. Where is the drop mic sound effect? I laughed so hard! Brilliant!
"Someone left this at the gym"... gold
The follow-up joke of Efka drinking out of it on the edit is even better! Loved it!
Another awesome review! Did find background music a bit distracting, could you turn that down next time? Thanks!
I saw Shut Up & Stay Home playing Forgotten Waters and looked so fun. Hopefully we will be soon be able to play with other 6 acquaintances

asmodee is a bit late on handing out forgotten waters to retailers so i am still waiting for my copy :-I. soo looking forward to the game.
I'm taking the course on comedy writing. Thanks for the recommendation it looks like a fun site!

110% agreeance that I have more fun with story-based games when they're unapologetically silly than when they take themselves super seriously.
I paused and now I'm worried about your health.
I love this game. My favorite part is through an adventure and a bunch of dolphins are chiding each other about being too religious. Its such good humor.
Great review! Thank you!
you can only say "that don`t impress me much" if you're in a desert wearing a leopard dress... please fix that
Upvote for Spire book in background :)
forgotten waters is my families new favorite game , you need to try it !!
While I am sure the app works and offers more than a physical version of a physical copy of the stories I would prefer a physical copy. Though I might still get this game...
i keep walking past this in my store and im still unsure lol great vid guys!
As an Australian with ADHD I feel very represented and catered for in this video.
Blunderbuss, Точно Ртуть Алоэ, Trans-Continental hustle... Our tastes in music are super similar, Guys!
Are they ever gonna make an expansion for this game ? ..Been having it since may.. played every scenario and since then there r no news about making a new expansion or at least ONE new scenario !!!! Like srsly...Its a shame cus me and my friends enjoyed it so much but ....still..:(
You should upload your gameplay vods from streams to here :)

Is that the Twilight Zone Mystical Seer on your back shelf?
Any chance you'll be reviewing their more recent game, Freelancers? From what I've heard, it's like Forgotten Waters, but better.
We've covered it on our podcast, Talk Cardboard
@@NoPunIncluded Awesome, I'll track it down.
Hi, i'm still confused. Is it worth the buy? What games are similar (so i can judge based off if i like/disliked those...) *please consider posting an update!
its is probably worth the buy... i will update in another year.
A culinary pirate? I'd say Red Leg Zeff or Black Leg Sanji fall into this category.
Oh shit... 18 seconds in and he is licking the Seafall box...
What am I supposed to do with my life after seing that? Hahaha
Is Jesbut J. Vance a tip of the tricorn hat to Jack Vance?
Can you play again after you finished all the scenario?
You can, but I don't think the enjoyment will be quite the same.
You guys are so funny! just keep going forever plz...
Efka, you thought you could all infect use with a Shania Twain song, but no! It's the Saftey dance, cause your friends don't play, and if they don't play, well they're no friends of mine.

Who else thought of Sanji as the culinary pirate? haha
Seems kind of reminiscent of Tales of Arabian Nights, a game I found to be extremely tedious. Of course, that game didn’t really have any kind of cohesive narrative.
Drinking run before noon makes you a pirate, not an alcoholic.
How did you lose the game within 3 pages? Was it a combat heavy scenario or did you have a mutiny?
Even better than Blackbeard ?
3:40 is that Bryan Cranston?
Always a delight
I liked it!
Steve M... Martin! xD
Every time I see a game that requires a phone app, I'm just immediately out lol.
Nice American accent! To make it perfect, you have to pronounce the "th" in "three". It can't be "free". Also in "by-law", the American accent says "law" with a very elongated sound. You actually have to open your mouth quite wide to make the American "law" sound versus the British one.

That, sir, is most definitely an included pun! What about this channel's very name - does nothing in the world make sense anymore!?!?! Bahhh, forget it... Get me a swig 'o' grog - I've got a cannonball to ride!
Did you say your "inner C-3PO?" I had to rewind the video and yep. I didn't hear wrong.
Or was it SEA-3PO? :-D
Crossroads? I'm out.
Both times I played Dead of Winter I got bored as all $%#^%.
I also really disliked Dead of Winter. I felt the game decisions were not interesting at all. Each time I played, I was not the traitor, but was also not in a position where I could achieve my personal goal, so I stopped caring and became bored. One time, I got fanged on my first action.
Who the fuck has 6 friends!?
Two copies of OK Computer? I know it's a great album but really.
I had my own copy but got a gift of the limited edition blue vinyl version from a friend.
Your idea of pirates is a bit too TV and movie inspired. But that's alright.
I'm sorry but that's not a good "bad" American accent. If you want to annoy Americans, you gotta do over-the-top Southern, or Boston, or NYC. Anywhere else won't do much.
Hated this game. It’s on rails. Very little decisions, it’s a choose your own adventure at best.
I also dislike this game (sold it after finishing the suggested first scenario). Unlike most it seems, I did not like the voice acting or story. It was too much forced "piratey" comedy and too goofy for me. Neither my wife nor 9 year old son cared for it and he likes just about everything we play.

Sea of Theives is the best pirate game!
Ooops, sorry, wrong medium.
